Well, Buffalo was 3-11-2 on this date last year. Winnepeg was 8-5-2 Sounds like a wash for the Peg. -
As a matter of civil rights, however, how can you exclude military from civil service and opportunities for promotion? I agree. But occasionally the police, (state police) are a paramilitary. e.g) State Troopers retaking Attica Prison in the 70s. But for municipalities, I agree wholeheartedly.

I'm less worried about ex-military on our police forces.....(the military is never one thing, I know infantry vets and guys whose entire stint in the military was inspecting kitchens, or working in a motor pool) I am more concerned with surplus military equipment becoming police equipment and the focus on revenue. Interesting that the DOJ report of Ferguson starts with the policing focus of generating revenue. Revenue. We've turned our police across the country into tax collectors. Our citizens are not "the constituents but revenue streams". (the DOJ's words) Militarized tax collecting in poor neighborhoods. It is a recipe for revolt.

Here's the difference. There is no reason to vet Obama. He's the President. We've no choice there. Perhaps you don't like him. But there is no longer a choice. Ben Carson is a choice among candidates. He's still needs to be vetted.

ROR is really good at faceoffs. Really good. Eichel is getting better too. I'm sure not too many guys are used to righties pushing it up ice on the draw. -
Ocho Johnson is probably what we've seen. He scares the hell out of me handling the puck as well. He's not the future, and probably we've seen his upside. He'll give you a chance to win most games, but he'll outright lose a few too. Might as well groom Ullmark with starts if your chances are about even and you are gambling on a higher ceiling.

Generally players are expected to follow this when talking to the press: Be truthful, make no guarantees, don't brag, don't name names unless it is positive. Miller's always followed that. As much as you want there to be an issue, there really isn't one. Players call each other out inside the room. Not out. That's how it works. The after-game press conference is rarely a reflection of team dynamics. I remember Captain Chris Drury of the Rangers telling reporters what a great teammate Sean Avery was. Really hockey games are being broadcast like 30 years ago. (but worse, really) Last year we saw Duffer with the Corsi segments which was the vanilla base of a boring sundae. Things producers could track...... shots in MPH. How fast players are skating. collision speeds. Zone time clocks. Possession clocks. Entry speeds. Transitions time from D zone to O zone. I would even love Real Time Stats on the bottom as soon as they are scored. Examples such as: Gorges Block, Foligno Hit, Ennis Shot. O'Reilly wins Draw, Ullmark Save.

He's 100% right. Vancouver threw a point away. They lost because of sloppy coverage. That's not on the goalie. (We'll never agree on that either). And I'm glad we don't have this conversation anymore. I've never believed hockey players are thin-skinned. Buffalo was outplayed. (as they were on the Island too) Stupid Vancouver plays gave this game away. And i'm happy.

I don't think Ottawa management was worried about fan perception of moving Leggy. IIRC, fans were quite disappointed he had lost a a step. -
Fun game today I can't remember the last time we won in the last minute of play. It's been a long time. Three great plays on the winning goal - ennis's Rush, foligno's pass and Risto's shot.

I actually think you are on to something. That is one thing that the NHL does a very poor job marketing, the speed of the game. If they could track the speed of players, passes, and shots in MPH, i really think it would open some minds to the game. Or even at what speed someone got hit at, or ran into the boards at.

Actually, it hasn't been too bad. There is already a crowd there watching college football and hockey, and you'll get drinks. Not sure about food.
