  1. It depends. I would really play Pysyk McCabe most of the minutes of the 2nd with the long change. Throw Franson over for O-zone starts and PK. Throw Gorges over D-zone starts and PK.
  2. A few thoughts: Referring to these terrorists as masterminds is a little wacky. All it really took was munitions and ill intent. I'm not going to call the kids who attacked the Columbine school masterminds either. There was nothing relatively clever or innovated about these things other than it is possible to do, and they showed a rudimentary synchronization. It is not sophisticated. Terrorists really have little ability to project power over time. ISIS as a movement is weak. But they have the capability to do things like this. France is set to vote next month. Enter Marine Le Pen of the National Front. :( I spent the morning consoling a French friend. Her family is well. Her sister was walking the Champs Elysee when it happened - safe but rattled. I had the profound sense from her that it is hard to be here (in the US), when your heart is there. They will close the borders even if it means pulling out of the EU she thinks. When the French say enough, it happens all at once, she said. You'll see, she said with some sadness. You'll see.
  3. It looked like he got rung up pretty good. He must be hurt.
  4. Coco had a nice game. He's been playing and skating well. He was a solid pickup.
  5. I'm glad you mention Geuvermont. He doesn't seem to get much remembrance, but he was a very solid 2 way player.
  6. Not that he was bad last game. But he didn't have much jump.
  7. This is not true. My love of Mike is greater than 100 warm summer nights by the side of Nathan Paetsch. It is greater than the Buffalo News Nolan Pratt portrait over my tool bench . Far more treasured than the Rory Fitzpatrick signed golf iron towel tied to my golf bag. Mesaroz and Benoit are a distant memory. Alexander Sulzer - never had the same sizzle. We like Mike, and want him healthy and back the press box as soon as possible. :) Seriously, he's a good 7.
  8. Falling Water overwhelms and underwhelms at the same time. Beauty and minimalism. Be sure to make reservations.
  9. Me too. This is my Sabres oasis. I think I'll keep it that way for now.
  10. I've heard arguments that we should have an equality of feeling for those in Beirut and that it is racist that we don't. However, we have no NATO collective security pact with Lebanon, Lebanon is not our 9th largest trading partner, nor do 3-4 million Americans visit or work in Lebanon every year. We just don't have the same ties. Even my ethnically Lebanese friends have never been to Lebanon. Nor do we have a infrastructure in Lebanon to respond. It's something other than bigotry that it doesn't get as widely reported. however, It led the news on NPR last week though.
  11. It sure beats the shootout IMO. It still looks like NHL hockey to me because I remember when it was NHL hockey.
  12. There was no way the Iraqi parliament was going to approve an extension even if Obama had wanted to. Anyway....since it has come up. Politifact was dealing with the question in MAY http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/may/18/jeb-bush/obama-refused-sign-plan-place-leave-10000-troops-i/ Anyway.....part of SOFA negotiated by Bush was this: Article 24 Withdrawal of the United States Forces from Iraq Recognizing the performance and increasing capacity of the Iraqi Security Forces, the assumption of full security responsibility by those Forces, and based upon the strong relationship between the Parties, an agreement on the following has been reached: 1. All the United States Forces shall withdraw from all Iraqi territory no later than December 31, 2011. 2. All United States combat forces shall withdraw from Iraqi cities, villages, and localities no later than the time at which Iraqi Security Forces assume full responsibility for security in an Iraqi province, provided that such withdrawal is completed no later than June 30, 2009. 3. United States combat forces withdrawn pursuant to paragraph 2 above shall be stationed in the agreed facilities and areas outside cities, villages, and localities to be designated by the JMOCC before the date established in paragraph 2 above. | 16 4. The United States recognizes the sovereign right of the Government of Iraq to request the departure of the United States Forces from Iraq at any time. The Government of Iraq recognizes the sovereign right of the United States to withdraw the United States Forces from Iraq at any time. 5. The Parties agree to establish mechanisms and arrangements to reduce the number of the United States Forces during the periods of time that have been determined, and they shall agree on the locations where the United States Forces will be present. There was no way an extension was going to be approved by the Iraqi Government. Al Maliki asked for the Obama administration, what even Obama wouldn't give, to extend the agreement: Criminal jurisdiction over US forces to get an agreement through the Iraqi parliament. It was a non-starter (Al Maliki knew that). There was no political will from the Iraqi's for US troops to stay - no partner, no agreement.
  13. It seemed to me he made a very un-Zemgus-like play in overtime tapping the puck to nobody. Which San Jose jumped on to win.
  14. It doesn't bother me at all. He wasn't on a US passport.
  15. Notes: Zemgus was lost in OT. Concussion? Two well coached teams. Needed more from Sabres bottom 6. Delauries played a nice game, but the bottom 6 left sharks too comfy. Colliacovo is really playing well. EICHEL was getting a ton of attention from San Jose, first team to really game plan him to try to freeze him on the walls. I think Ennis might need a few days off. He was a human pinball last night.
  16. Sure. Under Geneva. But once they are in Custody they should get all the protections of POWs.
  17. She's to political insight what Pro Wrestling can teach us about sport.
  18. It's well thought out. But inaccurate. GW Bush signed the status of forces agreement agreeing to withdraw all US troops by the end of 2011. If it is an enemy combatant, sure.
  19. When your best available partner was pro-Iranian, I think deeply flawed and not viable both apply.
  20. Good news. I've heard from former friends/co-workers in Paris as well. One wrote: "Alive and well. But with Nausea."
  21. There is some truth I believe with infrastructure. Hey, who doesn't like power and water. But the point remains. There was no viable political partnership to be had. Nouri Al-Maliki and the Daawas were the best that could be found. And the best that could be found was deeply flawed. That pre-dated Obama.
  22. And it was to use Milton Friedman and Thomas Sowell's economics to create the Chicago School of economic model in Iraq. (Forget Naomi Klein's book, and the Shock Doctrine which tends to the polemical) but at it's heart. It was a free capital model of development that pooped out.
