UPDATED: Sabres sign 2 yr Deal w/Cody Franson
X. Benedict replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Chris Butler has had a respectable career already. Considering he was a 4th rounder, he's been a decent depth option and a fairly complete player. The guy was never an embarrassment out there, except for the sandpaper, he's a fairly complete option for a hole in any roster. -

It's a solid move, though its not one I'm drooling over. You can never have too many NHL defensemen, and the Sabres finally have depth. Franson won't be hard to spin come the spring. -
Bold move in this case is calling Stevie Y and asking, "Hey Steve, how you been? Wife and kids good? Get any golf in? Just curious about the bumper sticker your Aston Martin....."

I don't think there is a great market for him at the moment because a lot of teams have all their money tied up. His agent probably waited too long for the best deal. -

I'd be fine with doubling the number of representatives in the House. The districts are so ridiculously gerrymandered now, that it is more likely an incumbent rep will resign or retire than not get reelected.

Found it. It was spectacularly awesomely whatever it was

Funny. I couldn't get that jingle from the Enjoli commercial out of my head yesterday....what was that 1978? "I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, and never ever ever ever let you forget you're a man"

That's news. I imagine he'll be working closely with Schoney.

Mind Blown. Kishi Bashi

Not buying it. The Hockeypress with no byline or writers with names? hmmm.

Actually, Catholic theology......the ministers of the sacrament are the couple themselves not the priest. Though, in practice, most of the time a priest can be found to validate it.

Smart to sell high with Crosby in his prime.

That would be a good one.

The idea that marriage is a Love Match between to partners is a rather recent development in human history, really. Maybe 250-300 years ago. Only recently has marriage become a partnership between two equals. So if you are speaking of historical marriage, really the romance is the newcomer. It was a contract. Even in Jewish weddings they begin by reading the contract (Ketubah?), which is a little weird to sit through if you're not expecting it.
-
Contractors licence? The state has a great interest in seeing that rights of the married are protected. (could you imagine the chaos in civil courts of all those that die without wills). As for religious ceremonies, nothing forbids any religion from blessing the marriage between you and your goldfish. The state however has very good reasons not to recognize that as a legal or binding contract.

Danny Gallivan? I got nothing....

Hmmmm. Long Island is North of NYC, and Billy Joel has some territory in there. It's like a 1980's no-mans land.
-
Marriage, at its essence, is a contract. With large implications for civil laws. There would be some irony in sentencing her to 40 days in jail.

I'm convinced that the NFL loves this stuff. This is the best marketing they have going every off-season: bazaar rule changes, suspensions, etc. They are constantly creating news. It is all good for them.
-
By all means, it is a clear example of contempt of court.

I was curious about season ticket sales for the Islanders in Brooklyn. It looks like they have less than 100 left to sell. only 8 in the upper bowl. https://oss.ticketmaster.com/aps/islandersnhl/EN/buy/details/16IFS

Missed this. Sorry for your loss, brother. That's heartbreaking. I can't believe that doctors are prescribing that stuff without a regulated plan to stop.
