im sure this has been talked about, but we all know the importance of superstars/playmakers in sports. Thats the whole reason for the sabres tank. We want that true stud superstar. Not a couple players that a few notches below a superstar. No one would have gotten upset if the sabres would have moved up to the top 3 to get another superstar if they had a chance. Then why so much negativity for the bills doing the exact same thing to get the best playmaker in the draft? The past eight years we have drafted what 9, 11, 10, 3, 9, 11, 11, 12? Its not like we have a consistently having a top 3 pick. So we moved up to the top 3 at the cost of giving up next years draft. If the sabres or any other nfl team did this, then it would have been praised. Why is this seen as such an overpayment and why the negativity? Honestly looking for opinions, i dont get it

So if they aren't a power forward they aren't a Murray player? I assume you disliked the Reinhart pick. I'm going to assume moulson is a TM player since TM saw him first hand last year and just signed him

Why do you think a 5 mil cap hit for 36 year old is going to hurt us so much? He isn't going to be 40 and this isn't a 10 year deal. I would recommend being open to him and try to have an open mind. He isn't a small perimeter player like you mentioned, he is a player with a solid shot who produces, goes to the dirty areas and will fight for the puck, wants to be in buffalo, and from everyone's account is a great locker room presence.

Not really that similar at all. Big difference between a 5 mil cap hit in 5 years, and a 10mil cap hit in 7 years. In 5 years around 5 of our prospects will be in their first deal. And let's just say if we are anywhere near cap trouble because of moulson's 5 mil, then things went great. Reinhart is a superstar, grigorenko's bridge contract is done and he is due for a payday, Girgensons, Larsson are top 6 players, ristolainen and zadorov are top pairing Dmen, and pysyk and McCabe are top 4! Realistically in 5 years tho, cap shouldn't really be that much of an issue. Hopefully we are spending to the cap to put us over the top. But the beauty of a great prospect system is we have a lot of players that we will have on team friendly contracts

Well he isn't a power forward and you can't have a team full of power forwards. Moulson is a pure goal scorer who plays in the dirty areas, isn't afraid to get hit, and produces points. I think he fits in well with the team build IMO. I guess we'll find out!

I think it's pretty obvious we are building around prospects so having a vet take up 5 mil when the first few of our top prospects cheap entry level contracts end isn't too bad.

I don't see us being anywhere near cap trouble In 5 years so it shouldn't be an issue

It might be awhile as Lemieux, cornel, and karabacek aren't ahl eligible until 2016-2017. So it's in NHL or CHL for them. Maybe Lemieux in 2015?
