I already feel like I'm in mid winter form and October isn't even half over. My two teams played one another tonight. We played on the ice that the Jackals use, so that was nice. My brother and I split up and played against one another. On my first shift I picked off one of his passes and then got a screen shot through him that almost beat the goalie over his shoulder. My team ended up winning like 13-1... I eventually started checking my own teammates and shooting on my own goalie. Game was a blast. Best part was that I got to skate for a full half hour before and after my game because all the zamboni guys are players too. Before the game I even got to skate around the rink holding my nephew. Getting an entire ECHL arena to yourself for a topless cooldown skate is a spiritual experience. I love hockey. I love hockey. Oh, and you know when you have a song stuck in your head for an entire hockey game? This: What a great song. JT is a triple threat. I love hockey.

With the injury to Bogosian, "our D is weak" was no narrative. It's a little better now that McCabe seems to be contributing, but Colo, Weber, and Franson were all getting regular time at once. We'll have a decent group once Bogo is back and we don't have to lean so hard on Gorges, who is doing well so far with the tough assignments.

Our forward group is very well rounded. Grit almost across the board, and lots of different kinds of grit, too. You have the heavies of McGinn, Foligno, and Deslauriers. The defensively sharp Legwand, Larsson, Girgensons, Gionta, and O'Reilly. Kane is a relentless power forward. The closest any of our forwards are to soft are Reinhart and Moulson. Moulson still grinds in the slot and Reinhart is still a kid. This is an exciting time.

I love Yeichel. Absolutely love it. I am positive that it just came out in the moment the first time.

Eichel made Boone Jenner, a guy 4 years his senior, look silly on that play. Not only did he body Jenner out, he endured a hard slash to his hand without his stick even moving. Strong as hell.

I got accepted to Buffalo and Stony Brook, but deferred. Still not really sure what I wanna do. Caretaking for gramma is a really nice lifestyle for writing music and fiction + I get to be around my nephew. I don't feel motivated enough to go back to school yet. Last year of classes was pretty soul sucking.

Having talented forwards should help every forward on every line produce better. I still don't want Foligno anywhere near the top 2 lines.

Yeah, that's normal. Zadorov was the same. Being mentally tough doesn't mean he isn't ultra competitive or doesn't have emotions.
