I saw a lot of dump and chase last night, but I expect that once the team finds its identity we'll see more clean entries. Kane, Larsson, and Girgensons can pretty consistently win you those pucks.

It seems like he's still doing science. His initial lines had Kane-O'Reilly-Ennis and Moulson-Eichel-Girgensons together, so I'm sure he'll juggle them that way sometime soon.

When it comes to playing hockey, I feel that there is a certain respect that players need to have for the random nature of the game. You can make a great play in perfect position that ends up bouncing directly to the other team. You can fight through an obvious hold and get called for a it yourself. The best way to approach the game is to keep your feet moving no matter what random BS happens. The coach's challenge flies in the face of that particular spirit. It feels wrong. But the NHL is a pro league, maybe the challenge isn't a bad thing to have. More data needed.

Oh my god that Eichel snipe. Get used to these kinds of games for October and November, our team is going to need some time to find chemistry. Eichel and Kane didn't look good together. Hot Daniel must agree because he kept changing their linemate. 1st: Reinhart. 2nd: Foligno (ugh). 3rd: Girgensons (warmer...). Nobody was looking for Eichel as the outlet in the defensive zone. In fact, our 5 on 5 gameplan with that line didn't seem to incorporate Eichel at all. The other top line of Moulson-ROR-Ennis was inept in the offensive zone. In fact, just inept. They were a mess. I would put ROR with Kane and Eichel with Moulson. Those seem to be the most natural forward pairings. I keep wanting to slam DB and I keep reminding myself: The team is inexperienced and still needs to build chemistry, don't blame Hot Daniel for everything. The fact that he was willing to juggle the lines indicates to me that he's still trying to find what works with this roster. In the first and second period, Weber and Franson regularly drew the Turris line. Whyyyyy?!?!? Hot Daniel started matching up Colo and Pysyk against them in the third period. After only seeing the coach's challenge in action for 1 game, I'm already more impressed by pro NHL replay watchers than I ever have been by their NFL equivalents. Whomever caught that ticky tack offsides might've already bought Ottawa 2 points in the standings.

I want to see Backes crush McDavid, and then I want to see McDavid turn Backes inside out with an amazing move.

I'm not worried, while still being angry about how the defense has played so far. End of last season spoiled me.
