  1. Sobotka, Sheary, Pominville, Okposo, Middlestadt - are they just not good enough to score? They seem to float. I notice Rodriguez, Girgs and Larsson. I would like to see one more rambunctious guy with snarl. Bogosian/Risto have it and are difficult to play against - but do we have any forward with grit?
  2. I like this lineup and agree Gio and Moulson in press box/traded. I don't know if the veteran presence means anything or whether that is a trite phrase. Speed. The kids show fearlessness bringing the puck to the inside in the offensive zone. If I see Gionta skating to the outside one more time where he flings a catchable wrist shot to the goalie I will die from banging my head against the desk.
  3. Like to see Baptiste and Bailey up here permanently. Speed kills. Liking Kane's game a lot too. Similar players in that they all pressure the defense with their wheels. Team's passing is a lot better lately.
  4. Great game again. at 4-2 I left it on thinking all was lost. Not sure why I left it on - rarely rewarded by this team for such faith. Glad to be wrong!!!
  5. You don't stop Matt Moulson, you only hope to contain him!!!!!!!!!!
  6. What a great stretch of hockey last 5 minutes. Sabres are playing well. Feels like the team is gelling.
  7. Team hung in there with a top NHL team. Too bad they could not get a point. Pleasure watching real hockey again. I hope that we can take this as the moral victory it is. The record is not very good, but I expect this team to go on a win streak at some point.
  8. This team is fun to watch. First game of the season I am seeing. The go into the zone with pace. The get some chances. Most of the team seems to have real skills. I get the feeling they will only get better and better as they play together more. Hope springs eternal.
  9. If Tampa wins, they will have gone through 4 of the original 6: Detroit, Montreal, New York and Chicago.
  10. The bottom is hit at the end of the season. The slate is clean and we start building with a bunch more good draft picks, a handful of guys worth keeping, a pile of picks to trade if necessary for established vets with good attitudes, open cap space for free agents, and a few guys coming back from injury who look to be difference makers. I will start watching again in July when the off season starts, In the meantime, this was what needed to happen, and we traded away everything we could so we could start clean. This is what decisive, unsentimental people do. This wins the internet today. Laughing my ass off....
  11. Foligno is a waste. He is on the team seemingly based on his pedigree based and one terrific goal a few years back against the Maple Leafs. In a game like this, I miss John Scott.
  12. I think the key question about tanking is figuring out when is the right time for Tim Murray to start spending in free agency. Once you have some home grown core young talent, you start using cap space to buy free agents intelligently. With high certainty we aren't buying anything but budget free agents this coming off season, and play with the motley crew of lower cost veterans who won't be floaters. Do we do the same thing in the summer of 2015? If we plan on building building a new ethos with non-whiny ###### and non-smurfs (Darcy could not find character guys or power forwards who could work as a team) , we will likely be pulling high character/low talent guys to set examples and select reclamation projects off of waivers. If you have enough young guys on the payroll, we will have a relatively cheap team. Hopefully, it is a well coached, motivated group of spirited, competitive young guys getting better and better, and not a dispirited group who turn the talented youngsters into toxic headcases with lousy attitudes. If we have the cap space, we can start spending all at once to start moving in some expensive stars a stockpile of cash for maximum affect. But like a runner in a middle distance race, when is the right time to start your "kick".

    KALETA

He is one of the few reasons to get excited about the team. Hustle. Hard nosed. Not always 100% smart. Won't take crap. It is how I would like to think Buffalo is....
  14. The get paid a lot of money not to be pussies, so I have only so much desire to be supportive for this half hearted group of floaters and figure skaters..I do wish everyone else on the team had half as much heart as Ott and Kaleta. I like the recent effort with the young 'uns playing the past few games.
  15. Scrambly game, but a lot more creativity going on. Not a bad game to watch. People hitting each other too like they mean it. And now 4-2!
  16. I agree. I always suspected he is a major cancer in the locker room. Both he and Vanek convey a downward energy any time you see them talk. I think psychology had a lot to do with this bunch underachieving badly. I think the team was constructed with reasonable physical skills, but not where near the heart they needed to win (Darcy is at fault there). I am very happy they are blowing it all up. I think they are getting rid of the parts they need to remove before they ruin the new guys with the stench. I would like to see Stafford, Miller and Vanek all go. I would like someone else building this team who is more decisive. We hung on with a small soft team for way too long. Bruins game really showed this team for what it was. Should have started trading away folks the next day.
