If we trade away two defense men then we're one injury away from having to call up Pilut, Borgen, Gilmour or Nelson - all guys with NHL experience. We have a glut of D and should be exploring all options to swap one or two of them for forward help. What's more concerning is that we're one Eichel injury away from having ZERO offense. The UFA market next year isn't great, he's going to have to address the roster via trades.

Big game today. A win puts us at 41 points, which gives us a modicum of breathing room from about 5 teams sitting at 35-37 points. Leafs have Marner this time around. Sabres have Dahlin. I've been poo-pooing EROD lately so I expect him to get a goal tonight. Skinner is also long overdue.

That's one hell of a demotion. Sh*t. I, for one, would not be happy with an $855,000 pay cut (I know he's already been paid at the 925k level for 30 some games), but in theory, that's rough. At least we know he has motivation to really work on his game. Can you even live comfortably in Rochester on 70K a year? Does the team pay for or provide housing for players in his situation?

Was he the one challenging people to fights based upon his superior football knowledge? I miss that guy too...kept it lively in here.

During the losing skid I was clamoring to see Skinner back with Jack but now that they're playing better I'm less inclined to call for this, however, if we're down a goal late I'd like to see Ralph deploy Eichel and Skinner as a reverse alamo, or whatever. I remember saying that the Sabres would never be a competitive team as long as EROD was on the roster, I think I was reconsidering that position last year but am now back to that position.

This is a good move for Casey & the Sabres. It gives Casey an opportunity to play big minutes in all situations to develop his game and grow as a player. Playing 9 minutes in the NHL doesn't allow for any of that. This is also good for the organization as it shows they're not afraid to send you down if if you're were the 1st pick and roommate of Dahlin....typing this out doesn't make that much sense since he stayed up for far longer than he should. Glad they finally pulled that trigger.

Is EROD the most disappointing Sabre this year? Or the least productive? He only has 2 assists in 18 games so far, which is atrocious considering he's been playing with Skinner. I took a look at the stat sheet and was surprised to see Casey and Sheary both have the same point totals, the difference being Sheary gets in areas to sometimes create chances but can never finish. I'd much rather see: Skinner - Mojo - Asplund Vesey - EROD - Sheary or swap out Asplund for really anyone from the 3rd line. The way it's set up now feels like you're killing both lines instead of having one competent line and a dud line. What the hell do I know, though?

Yes, because if we can get a decent winger who can spark anything in our middle six I think that would help us more than sending them one of our dispensable D would help them. Eichel can't keep his point streak alive through the end of the season and into the playoffs...or can he?

I'm amazed it took this long but am glad it finally happened. Let's see him prove something in the A and actually develop. I'm confident Ralph gave him a good sending down "pep talk" with a clear plan of what he needs to work on. Go bills.

This will be a challenge for the Sabres. Islanders don't give up many goals and I think we'll need some special teams scoring to click if we're to win this. I think it's a given ullmark will start. Would like to see BOGO be another no-go.

What's the deal with Tage? On Novermber 18th the injury report listed him as 3-5 weeks. Three weeks later he's still 3-5 weeks? Do they not update the timelines after the initial injury?

I was able to snag an Eichel version of the Golden Jerseys, looks so good in real life. I've worn it once, when the sabres played the Rangers in MSG earlier this year, which I believe was the start of our terrible November. Hoping to rock it again vs. Boston on the 27th and get some good luck with it.

We need to keep posting points so we can float with the WC teams in the metro division. The team seems to play well in the Golden Jerseys. I'm expecting a big game from our elite center, Johan Larsson tonight.

I really hope they don't do with Mitts what they did with Tage....have him up when he's not ready and then stick in him Rochester to start the next season. He needs to go down and rebuild his confidence. Speaking of Tage, any update on his timeline to be back? I imagine they'd re-assign him when he's healthy so he can get a few games in. I would like to see him come back up at some point and see if he can help the 2nd or 3rd line.

The problem is they need a stop-gap for a 2C for 2-3 years until Cozens is ready, so I'd be hesitant to give any of those centers on the list a long deal. The off-season will certainly be interesting considering the amount of UFAs we have this year. I still think Casey fits into the longer term plans, he's simply not physically ready and needs to grow into his body more. I don't understand why he's not in Rochester right now if he's being scratched or stapled to the bench when the game matters. Botts needs to swallow some pride and send him down. I don't know enough about most of the players on this list to really target anyone, I just hope JBOT does something to address the center depth before July 1st.

I came here to mention the power play as others have noted above. I think they're 4 for the last 50 something, around 7% over that stretch which is ABYSMAL. What's amazing is the amount of points Jack has put up despite the power play being so dead. The PK is also 30th in the league. Fix the special teams and keep stringing together wins.
