  1. Some days are just too good around here.
  2. Thanks... :)
  3. After the debacle that is pi... I'm not sure these should be allowed. :)
  4. It's worth posting for the hilarity that is Paul Bissonnette. https://twitter.com/BizNasty2point0?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw NO idea how to embed tweets.. or whatever.
  5. I could see the trade including a conditional draft pick based on Ennis production or games played. The more he plays the lower the pick the Sabres give up. :)
  6. I'll put it this way.. Lucic - 7x $6M OKposo -7 x $6M Backes - 5 x $6M Nielsen - 6 x $5.25 Ladd - 7 x $5.5 Of those signings... I like Okposo the best.
  7. This is a good deal at $6M. I can live with this and I think it sets the stage that a few people are moving out.
  8. Moved from watching it on TV upstairs to streaming downstairs and there's that streaming delay! :)
  9. Murray is holding off announcing anything so NHLN can stop fawning over the Canadian signings and spend the appropriate amount of time talking about his team. :)
  10. Yea.. at work. I haven't received a new email since 8:35am. Normally I would have had over 60 by now. Sitting at home "working". :)
  11. Right? Dual monitors and my laptop on my desk right now. NHL Network on one. This forum on another screen and then my work email, etc. on the laptop. Gotta love distraction!
  12. I believe he's UFA. 1 year deal last year IIRC.
  13. Nah... you want him to move up and down the top 6 D and fill spots. Risto - Kulikov Fowler - Bogo McCabe - Gorges/Franson Am I missing someone? I know we have a few other D but i see them as Amerks <-> Sabres players at this point.
  14. One could only hope. However, at some point the owner has to say.. wait a minute. An attempted trade like that on the Avs part might be that point.
  15. Well, the Oilers have a plethora of forwards they could have shopped but Hall is the one that moved. They were shopping Hall based on the Risto comments. I would say there was a reason they wanted him out of there. If the Oilers were going around looking (and by all accounts they were the active party) then they targeted Larsson. Either way, there's enough about Hall to create rumblings of what kind of teammate he is and that might scare people away. I am sure its well known in hockey circles but not spread publicly. I would not have traded Risto for Hall under any circumstances. You weren't going to turn around and get anything close to Risto on the market without overpaying so that trade would have depleted an already thin defense corps. All in all I watch Risto play and I see a great defenseman in the making.
  16. There's an article on sportsnet.ca or tsn.ca where they have quotes from Bergevin discussing his turnovers in the Kings game and one in the game before that. They mention an incident where Subban was trying to put blame on the equipment guy for screwing up his skates even though they were fine. I'm sure there are other reasons but he's always been quite a selfish player and takes many unnecessary risks. Sometimes its good, sometimes its bad, and I would imagine the Habs wanted more stability back there.
  17. I think the Sabres are in good shape if they don't land a top FA. Frankly it's usually overpayment day anyway. I'd rather the Sabres continue their controlled build than try to go out and swing for the fences. There has to be some limit to how many contracts the Sabres can go out and get right now as well unless they also move someone right?
  18. Ahh I see what you are getting at. The additional revenue from the 8th year he would get signing the "NEXT" contract. Fair enough.
  19. Not sure what you are getting at... the extra year is calculated into the overall contract value and total taxes paid.
  20. You might find this interesting... punch in $12M AAV for Buffalo and check the net amount differences to Tampa.
  21. It's not uncommon for teams to let a free agent test the waters to see where the market is being set and then agree to match that market value. I would imagine that kind of happened here. The nuance of the deal seems to align with all the economic analysis on how much Stamkos truly makes based on taxes, etc.
  22. As I think about it more.. I think Montreal is really looking for the stable back end presence that will allow their forwards to play more confidently. Subban, for all of his talent, is still prone to making some incredibly stupid decisions with the puck. If a forward can't rely upon his defender and he has any concerns about the well being of his team he's bound to play more defensively than normal. The other thing I wonder now is if Nashville is going to consider trading away a different D player. They do have an embarrassment of riches on the blue line.
  23. I guess Subban really impressed Nashville while he was down there for the All-star game. Perhaps Montreal acquired Weber to beat up Zetterberg again? Hell.. I'm confused. But in the realm of possibilities... does Montreal have too many players they feel they would need to protect in the expansion draft so they moved Subban? I've got nothing else.
  24. That's absolutely classic. And I'm fine with Stamkos in TB. I prefer athletes stay with their teams.
