  1. For those of you wondering, here is the hockeysFuture rating for Ryan Johaneson: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/ryan_johansen/ as a comparable, here is Grigorenkos: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/mikhail_grigorenko/ And Hodgson: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/cody_hodgson/ obviously you would need to subscribe to their ranking system, but makes me think a little more about the above trade proposal
  2. I will say it, i would prefer to see Jason Pominville stay in Buffalo. I think while he is not good C material, he is a very competant player. If i had to choose to retain one of our 2 big wingers (which is probably a good idea looking to a rebuild) he is the one to keep. For what it's worth, i also have a friend who is close with their family, and i know for a fact they love Buffalo. Of anyone on this team, i think pominville would be one to negotiate for a more manageable contract and would not take offense to relinquishing the C after this season.
  3. On the Toffoli Rumors, i'd love to see him here, played on a line my buddy shane while they were both on the 67's. Kid has one helluva offensive upside. If we can build a team through other teams high end prospects i'm all for it at this point. I think if its pominville regher or stafford you do the deal.
  4. Chara will be the only bruin with a higher cap hit next year.
  5. The report i saw earlier today said that he (iginla) supplied a list of 4 teams he'd be willing to accept a trade to. Pitt, Chicago, LA, and Boston. He wont fit under their cap with morrow there so unless they give up a piece i could see Iginla in Chicago
  6. Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 20m DAL F Brenden Morrow is currently discussing with his agent the Stars' request to waive his NTC to be moved to PIT.
  7. You want to know how to build a winning team?
  8. It's not so much top picks as it is draft success... You can look at Pitt, Crosby, Staal, Malkin, Letang, Fleury You can look at Chicago with Kane, Toews, Keith, Seabrook You can look at LA with Kopitar, Brown, Quick etc Detroit with Zetterberg and Datsyuk It's just easier to not ###### it up when you have a top pick. But all those cup teams were built through the draft and fee agency. It might not be the most sure fire way to acquire talent, but with the rep buffalo has around the league it very well may be the only viable option to add top tier talent.
  9. My favorite thing aboyt Pysyk is that he actually seems to not only play well in the corners, but can actually get the puck off the opposing players stick, rather than just waiting for an errant pass. I was real excited when we drafted this guy, i think he has a place on this team NOW.
  10. Hoff Ott CoHo Foligno Myers
  11. so like telling him to pick Roman Catholicism or Lutheranism? I think he just needs to focus on playing effective defense.
  12. i was at that one, freakin shot was made of lightning.
  13. Having stafford disappear certainly doesn't help, and i tend to agree with you. I look at the blackhawks as a nice example. They have a solid makeup of skill in front, and they shuffle their bottom six guys every couple of seasons. Those players may not be permanent fixtures on a team, but their performance is still significant. Better role players tend to throw wrenches in defensive schemes for the opponent. It's not surprising that our top line has dropped off since stafford disappeared. The top line is much more of a threat, thereby drawing more attention. Without that secondary scoring a team wont make it far, regardless of how much skill you have up front.
  14. Just supports my thoughts, thanks for the find. I understand the thinking of unloading pommer and vanek for future pieces but i find it strange that once we finally have our #1 center that everyone has been clamoring for, and arguably one of the most dangerous top lines in the league, that some posters here want to move the wingers whom we tried so hard to get a center for.
  15. The whole point i was trying to bring across with this thread is that he is exactly the opposite of that. Every team needs role players. 1 or 2? please, the bottom six forwards should typically be role players. The problem is our current role players cant seem to consistently play hockey. Being a role player doesn't mean you don't have a place on a team. On the contrary it means you play a role (role player, eh?) Flynn has the ability to be just what the doctor ordered. I agree with the majority of the responses here that he probably wont be a superstar, i highly doubt that will ever be the case. But from what i have seen so far, he is a bottom six guy who can contribute offensively. You know how people always clamor for rolling 4 lines? Well you don't do that with 12 top 6 forwards. It takes guys who are competent and skilled with a puck and don't make in excess of 2.5 mil every year. As i said in the original post, this teams failure is as much to blame on the lack of quality support or "role" players as it is our slumping "superstars". Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see grigorenko and Armia come into their own, hopefully as very capable scoring forwards, but i'm equally excited to see the likes of girgensons, tropp, and by the early looks of things, brian flynn to shore up our bottom 6. You need a full team to win in this league, and i honestly could see flynn as a part of that.
  16. I would send down porter, waivers be damned. I don't know that any team would pick him up with the intention of playing him on their nhl roster. Flynn has produced. That's something our team needs. Play the young guys so I at least have something to watch
  17. He just strikes me as a potential support guy that can make a difference. Drafted or undrafted, the kid seems like he can play, and i like what i've seen thus far. Someone who can play the role that porter or ellis fills, but actually belongs on an NHL roster. Obviously its real early to sing praises like that, but i like what i've seen. He could be a solid regular on either of the bottom two lines. I'm sick of the guys with all heart and no NHL skill. I respect the hell out of their work ethic but for pete's sake give me someone who can play! I'm interested to see where he winds up. I'd prefer he stays up when ennis returns. Give rochester their captain back.
  18. Top line is definitely generating some nice pressure tonight. Need to bury some of these chances though.
