  1. Shopping anywhere in Genesee and Orleans counties on a Sunday will give you a good indication of the size of the migrant population. Every store and plaza has a bus parked in the lot that has delivered workers that are doing their shopping. Very prevalent. The restaurants and markets were inevitable. And highly appreciated. My son worked a nearby farm in his teens. We got to know a number of families that transitioned from migrant work to operating their own small businesses locally. What we generally don’t have are the fancy “cuisine” type restaurants that the bigger metro areas have. These are all family owned and operated. Not a “chef” among them I would guess, but damned good cooks.
  2. I shall hate him for 24hrs, but no more.
  3. Medina has an amazing Mexican restaurant. Forget its name though. Worth the drive. Albion has one as well, but I haven’t made an excuse to eat there yet. Batavia has 3. One right off the thruway, Los Compadres is great street food style mexican, and 2 sit down restaurants that are also high quality. All 3 are run by Mexican families. Batavia has Puerto Rican place now too. Leroy has a pretty damned good Mexican restaurant as well. Genesee and Orleans counties really do benefit from the season immigrant work force, Between the restaurants and Spanish markets.
  4. Glurge? That is a new word for me.
  5. I honestly don’t het the consternation over losing Peca. He has shown very little indication of what he might be as a head coach. We might’ve lost a gem, but we might’ve lost another mediocre coach. There is no way any of us can make a prediction of what he might become. It is “concept of” stuff.
  6. Low bars all. None of them are NHL talent.
  7. The rain must be bringing them in now. Last week they were still catching them in 70-90’ in the lake.
  8. Good luck with that. I tried the VPN-ESPN+ combo. It didn’t work for me. I don’t know how they do it, but ESPN+ readily detected that I was using a VPN and blocked my precious Sabres stream. Argh!
  9. Yes they are. Otherwise they wouldn’t be on an AHL roster.
  10. Yeah. The idea of handing down culture is hopeless. /s
  11. This really hits home. One of the victims of the decision to tank and subsequent decade of failure is a fracture in the chain of handed down culture. The What-it-is-to-be-a-Sabre line was broken and is taking a bit of time to be re-established. Hopefully it doesn’t take much more time.
  12. I can smell what PAs cookin’. I’ve felt for awhile that there is a fair bit of Kreuger-speak in how Granato speaks. I suppose thats just what a communicator type leader sounds like today? I guess its been so long since we’ve heard an actual winning HC communicate that I don’t know what a modern one sounds like.
  13. As I understand it, that is the only way out of Gaza. A demand that civilians evacuate and then Bombing the evacuation route is disturbing to say the least.
  14. Was Mogilny still 18 when he got here?
  15. I haven’t seen (and haven’t looked) for any count of casualties in Ukraine. It has to be substantial.
  16. It is another straw on the camel’s back tho.
  17. Ugh. So much this. And every year the can gets kicked down the road is another year of Tage’s, Tuch’s, Skinners, and some of the older younger guys windows closing.
  18. Thank you for being the guinea pig. I’ll stick to my copyright infringement sources. I want to give someone money. I really do. They make it not worth the effort.
  19. Superstitions are for suckers. *crosses fingers and knocks on wood* Belt and suspenders, baby.
  20. In before the non-automated automated response to the thread title.
  21. That quote is a tough pill. If that is the thought already, it must include carryover from last season. Sounds like the view from others that play against this squad isn’t as universally optimistic as we are.
  22. Hopefully we do a 180 and not a 360 so we aren’t back where we started
  23. It would have been moved. I’m just commenting on the state of this club. Its not active at all. Granted, given the hard feelings overall during the last 6 yrs we might all be better off that things die here.
  24. Well, that was fun, wasn’t it? In all seriousness, I was only able to watch the 1st period due to an 8pm meeting with a customer in China that ran until just now. We looked a step behind NYR. I liked the physical response near the end of the first and thought it bode well for the team coming out to start the 2nd with a little more jump. Holy ***** hell, what the hell happened?
