  1. They also finally made the logo the circle instead of having a weird circle around the logo
  2. I think the issue with what you are saying is the fact there isn’t a legitimate option the Sabres can take that makes sense at this present time. The players and fans want a Cup team but I honestly don’t see us being quite ready to make a full playoff run. Presently the only way we can get a playoff caliber goaltender is via prospects like Levi or trading a mountain to get a rental in Helle. There aren’t a multitude of goalies just out there we could bring in to get to the playoffs that are reasonably priced. You don’t trade multiple premium assets for a rental goalie no matter how good they might be unless you feel fully confident that said goalie makes you a significant Cup contender. Presently I’d be on the fence in trading for prime Hasek or Roy due to the teams inexperienced roster. The thing is, there are no Haseks or Roys just laying around; even at Helle’s peak level we’d still be a mere playoff berth team that might win a round. I’m not trading huge assets to get 1.5 playoff rounds for 1 year
  3. Doesn't exactly scare me, he still had a +20 +/- so it's not as if he was bad. Just didn't quite cash in enough.
  4. Always have been, WPG is likely going to end up folding at the deadline or letting him walk at this rate. Plus I frankly have zero interest in signing him at 8x9mil
  5. That's why I think it'd be around 8.5 to 9 at most; he'll use his draft status as leverage.
  6. Probably looking at 8.5 to 9.5 for 8 years now.
  7. Honestly, I see him having ups and downs however not intense downs. For example he had a couple rougher games in his stint last year so I’d expect much of the same this time around, only stretched over 45 games or so. He’ll be solid most nights, mediocre occasionally and a brick wall occasionally.
  8. He will score Buffalo’s 1st playoff goal since Brad Boyes. End of story, other than that he’ll be his usual 20-25 pt man who works his ass off every night.
  9. Peterka still strikes me as a 40-50pt 2nd/3rd line tweener who plays a solid overall game and then gains a gear in the playoffs. Since that is literally what he did in Rochester.
  10. To me he’ll likely stay a quiet enigma who has games all over the spectrum and if he stays healthy will get between 45-60 pts. Mind you it will primarily be assists so something akin to 14g 39a for 53pts. Where he will show up is in big moments near season’s end and potentially in the playoffs as well.
  11. He is literally up a creek without a paddle, also his boat is leaking. Comrie, in order to stay in Buffalo, will have to play out of his mind in the preseason in order to keep himself from the waiver wire. He’s not only playing against UPL as a player but his status as a team prospect in addition. UPL has the tie breaker and likely the mulligan on his side.
  12. To be honest I agree with you here; my guess was this was a player complaint, since I doubt the Pegulas want to potentially lose a portion of sales. However Terry is a Sabres fan at heart and is willing to eat a minor loss in potential revenue if it helps the team improve at home and thus create further revenue in the future
  13. I’d say Detroit’s strategy is based on Yzerman’s experiences in Detroit as a player and Tampa as a GM. His goal, although artificial, is to lock the door to the NHL from his prospects and force them to earn a spot without a question. After all, Tampa and 90’s/early 2000’s Detroit were that way. The issue is that he’s using more or less stuffing to block prospects. If you have a high talent NHL roster, playing hard to get for prospects makes sense and can help push them harder. On the flip side, barring Compher and Copp magically turning into Zetterburg and Datsyuk; they are a middling team with too many ok players on big contracts. Detroit is more or less our exact opposite; we left openings for rookies to jump into and learn under fire. Detroit brought in vets galore and have more or less blocked most of their prospects from even having a shot due to the contracts they gave out. Essentially where Buffalo could have used 1 more vet piece to help keep maybe 1 more youngster in Rochester; Detroit has welded the door shut.
  14. Honestly that specific case probably wouldn’t be allowed as US dollars > Canadian dollars as well as Quebec isn’t exactly some mega metropolis.
  15. Incorrect you are young Jedi Detroit has more vets, but doesn’t make them better than us. Arguably they are still worse in general while also dealing with far less of a timeframe to reach a higher level due to their advanced ages. Young players have potential to get better, older players almost never improve and thus are what they are. None of their players exactly scare me. Debrincat, Larkin and Raymond are their core 3 forwards. Very good players but after that you have a hodgepodge of ok players and nothing dynamic on offense. The Sens are more or less snapping at our heels much like they did the whole past season. Dahlin > Chabot, Power > Sanderson thus automatically giving us an advantage on defense. Offensively they have similar skill levels to our guys but not quite the general depth of skill. The only place they may have us beat is in net, but Levi can still beat Korpisalo with a solid rookie campaign.
  16. In theory this might actually help season ticket holders. If Sabres regions get 1st come, 1st serve over Toronto/Montreal's fans it could potentially create a fake squeeze on tickets in the resale market. Bob from Buffalo buys 4 tickets for $150 each most years, this year he buys 10 tickets; why, because he knows he can easily sell them himself. Bob then sells 6 of the 10 tickets for $350 each. While it doesn't fix the stadium fan issue; it certainly works well for savvy fans with some disposable income at their disposal.
  17. They wouldn’t stop watching the Bills, it would be more in regards to buying tickets and the like.
  18. The Bills wouldn't become a loss but general sales would go down due to many Sabres fans would outright boycott going to BIlls games if the Sabres moved.
  19. I could see that, I doubt he'd fully sell the team because the backlash would effect his Bills bottom line as well. However by separating the two would allow him to sell a piece of the Sabres without involving the Bills.
  20. Is there context I'm not knowledgeable of?
  21. Delaware North's contract expires in two or three years. I know, through a source, that PSE is expecting Delaware North to really step up their game in Key Bank and the present Bills stadium in order to hold onto the Sabres contract. Essentially Delaware North doesn't want to lose both of its home town contracts which is now very possible.
  22. Probably not, I could see him making a magical play to start one though
  23. To be honest, he may be wanting to to UFA due to the salary cap movement and that will stick CAR between a rock and a hard place
  24. I would, nothing good comes from shorter terms.
