I don't think the team would be any different with or without Stewart, he just seems to lack motivation here to be the player we want him to be. The idea of what Stewart should/could be is what makes people want to re-sign him.
-
Stafford us a decent player that fans have turned on because they expected more from him cause of his salary and draft position. He isn't a superstar, but he isn't Leino either. Stewart is supposed to be the type of player people want, gritty with the ability to score occasionally, but he has just seemed lazy and disinterested in being here. That's why I would move him for whatever you can get
-
The only reason a Stewart/Subban deal wouldn't happen is that Boston would require some salary to be moved from their roster to make room for Stewart since they are close to the cap. To us Stewart might be underachieving or just bad, but there's demand for him and teams are interested. Subban has proven nothing at the NHL level, if it's possible the Bruins could make a swap like this if it wasn't for the cap and needing room for Stewart if Subban is not in the future plans due to Rask
-
I would move Stewart to Boston for Subban straight up

Weren't they going to unload one of the 2 up with the big club in order to get him playing time so they don't lose him because of the clause in his contract? Guess they really don't have to worry about the demand for him leaving for a new team......

It wasn't even the first night of a b2b..........

Well let's not go overboard, Garth is still a horrible GM, but this is a much better team that's not going to be giving the sabres a top 10 puck this year. They found Goalie and brought in some good fAs to build off of some of the years of many high picks. Love the comment Boutique building a a team around Tavares, especially coming from a fan of a team intentionally trying to be bad enough to get McDavid to build around
-
Sure, just wait til the off season to get Hall, the Oilers will wait til whenever the Sabres are ready to deal and young talented 1st overall picks are available all the time in trades. You don't want to risk losing. A possible shot of having the #1/2 spit in the draft because you picked up a great young player already with NHL experience

Sabres are ruining Murray's plan---what does he do??
apuszczalowski replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
But if you wait to make the changes til the summer/next season you might be missing out on some better deals. The Cap may put teams in positions to sell some talent, and right now the Sabres have the cap space to make moves, also by the summer or next season a team like the Oilers may have already made their move to sell off a good former top of the draft pick. This idea that they need to wait to make a move cause they could lose out on not picking #1 overall, or the teams not ready to compete is the type of thinking that will cost this team if the stars in the sky don't line up perfectly for them. You make the moves when they are available to be made. And right now is a good time to start looking at raiding some teams rosters for upgrades. -

If I'm Murray, sitting in his position with the assets he has to work with, I'm a buyer working the phones trying to raid some if the rosters of the bottom feeder teams (ie edmonton) and teams looking for cap room (Kings, Hawks, and Bruins). The only asset off the table is their own #1 pick and some of the young guys. I'm not making g the moves looking at this season, but setting myself up for next year and forward. -
Sabres are winning. Why are prices still so low?

So wait a minute, the point of "The Tank" isn't to get McDavid/Eichel? There are other ways they could build a cup contender besdies trying to break records for being one of the worst franchises ever and they just decided this would be the best way to go? -
I don't blame him, did you actually see how his team was playing in front of him? How many 3 on 1's did his team make him face? And I have seen Enroth do a similar WTF look/wave after a few goals too........ You don't say, He wasn't just hiding nuts for the winter?

If Murray rips apart this roster and starts dumping players so that they will not be able to compete and secure a last place finish, a quality well run organisation would/should show him the door....... I want a GM that doesn't need to pick 1st (or second) overall or have to find a saviour in some young kid in order to build a contending team. A good GM can use all resources to build a winner and doesn't have to win a lottery in order to build his winning team. -

Greatest fans in the League! We want McDavid/Eichel and will live through the growing pains/tank to get them, just don't ask us to pay to watch it........... I'm still waiting for the Boos after a win from the Pro-Tankers because these guys are ruining the only chance this team ever has to build a cup team by losing out on McDavid/Eichel -
Just a heads up for those willing to cross the Border, Today and Tomorrow, St. Catharines is hosting the Scotia Bank Hometown Hockey Series - http://www.wellandtribune.ca/2014/12/12/live-hometown-hockey-hits-st-catharines Its in Downt town St.Catharines and goes til 6pm today I believe (if you come down you can then head over to the new arena and catch the ice Dogs game after) and tomorrow until 11. Tomorrow night Ron McLean will be there to broadcast the Sunday night game (Blackhawks vs Flames I believe) which you can watch on a big screen outside. Lots of games and other stuff for kids and adults, free to get in Also appearing sometime over the weekend is former Leaf Darcy Tucker (may be there right now) and I'm assuming tomorrow, current Sabre Josh Gorges will be there
-
Probably just as loud as a Sabres home game too........
-
I think there's a chance it's a close game, montreal could give price a vacation this weekend without hurting their chances at winning
-
Better trade him for a pick or prospect then, imagine what Murray could do with another first round pick from a better team
-
Well obviously Tallon doesn't know how to build a championship team How could he not realise he has to dump everyone so he can get McJesus?
-
It was a 1 game suspension for not injuring Kaleta more. Had he knocked Kaleta out for the season they probably would have called him in to give him a reward.

Was at the game with my brother too. Just before the end of work today I was offered free tickets to sit in the 100's for the game tonight so I decided to go. Going into the 3rd I was thinking I got ripped by getting these tickets for free. The only entertainment during those 2 periods were when the guy behind us kept yelling to the Sabres they should defer the penalty instead of going on the power play, then the Jets score short handed Then someone missed the puck right in front of Pavelec in the 2nd and he yells that even Hellen keller would have saw that one Guess we have to just smile and wait for Conner McChrist to come and resurrect the franchise ad Save Saint Pegula Wish i could be one of those lucky season ticket holders who get to pay for this enjoyment 41 times this year. Atleast they can sit there with smiles knowing the teams value has increased, those quality players on the ice get to go back to a beautiful locker room and on your way out you can walk past the french connection statue on your way to Pegulas hockey heaven across the road

There are teams just as bad, so I won't say they are hands down the worst team. They won't make the playoffs, but from the looks of things, it looks like they just needed time to gel and get used to each other, there's a bunch of new players playing with a lot of youth, it takes time to get everything in the same page. And like usual, it comes down to goaltending. Neuvirth was running away with the starting job and now that he's been out it seems enroth woke back up and wants it back. This team isn't a lock for the worst record.

Game Discussion Thread Rangers at Sabres 11-21-2014 postponed
apuszczalowski replied to spndnchz's topic in The Aud Club
This makes some sense, the sharks were apparently in Buffalo already and it would be a lot more difficult to reschedule a game with a team coming from the west coast. It's much easier to reschedule a game with a team that's from the same state and a short flight away -
Do they cancel the Sabres/Sharks tomorrow? Nope.

Most modern day 4wd in SUVs is just a glorified AWDAnd 4wd is useless if you don't know how to properly use it, usually all it does is inflate the ego of the driver who thinks turning it on (can't even say shifting into 4wd anymore since most are push button/dial activated) makes them invinsible on the roads and can drive like they would on a hot summers day. I have seen varying weather reports for up here and nothing about snow, mostly just heavy winds. I'm hoping for no snow though, the wife gets her snow tires put on tomorrow and my jeep is in the shop tonight after it decided it didn't like its rear wheel anymore and tried to get rid of it driving home on the highway.............- 329 replies

And yet none of those franchise 'tanked' on purpose for a pickChicago was bad because of cheap ownership, and their resurgence also co-incided with the old owner kicking the bucket and his son taking over opening the wallet...... Pittsburgh was bad because the franchise was in bankruptcy and lucked into Crosby, they didn't throw seasons in order to get into a position to draft him, they were lucky enough to win a draw for him..... Boston is where they are by not only drafting well but making good trades to bring talent in. Obtaining Chara, trading Kessel away for picks and lucking into one of them being a #2 overall pick that they could alter trade. It wasn't until they found Thomas that they became one of the top teams LA is another team that made it to where they are by some good drafts and some great trades What has Vancouver done to enter this? Again, some good drafting and trades to bring in talent. So far all Buffalo has done is dump talent to obtain picks and a few prospects banking on winning the lottery this year to get a potential elite talent. So when they get McDavid, all of the sudden this is going to become the place to be for FA's? Buffalo's plan for success is the equivalent to having a retirement plan of cashing in your current life savings on lotto tickets to the next huge powerball draw. Your broke and struggling now, but you have soooo many chances to become a huge millionaire it can't fail!
