Ryan Miller benched for playoffs in favor of Eddie Lack...
apuszczalowski replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
Lack is starting because he played well while filling in for Miller and Miller had a total of one game to get back from weeks off to get ready for the playoffs. God job trying to make this into some kind of goalie controversy though and that it's because the Canucks think Lack is better. Miller was supposed to be back by the playoffs at the earliest, Lack played well so they decided to give Miller a little nmore time to get back into shape by letting Lack start the series, but now down 2 games to 1 I wouldn't be surprised to see them put Miller back in -
true, you never heard TM say he dreams about Eichel and can't stop thinking about him, Pegula didn't invite Boston University to play a game in Buffalo in front of Sabres fans so they can see him first hand...... It's the fan base that seems to think the front office tanked to get McEichel and that they would be equally happy with either. I haven't heard or seen anything coming from the Sabres aside from the expected "we would be happy with whatever the result" comment when referring to the draft.

although Murray did sort of make a difference in future league policy regarding the draft, they started implenting to rules to the lottery to try and prevent teams from intentionally throwing away seasons and tanking because of what he has done here to try and get mcdavid
-
Murray's a joke. He just a loud mouth d-bag who acts like he has accomplished so much more then he has already in this league. your mad because the league is supposed to reward teams for losing, and even worse, intentionally removing all the talent from your team in order to make them bad so you can get the top pick, even though your front office has all the assets available for you to rebuild without having to go through this suffering. Time to shut up and get to work acquiring talent and show your able to do more then just sell off assetts

is it possible to do this in a trade for McDavid
apuszczalowski replied to sabresareback's topic in The Aud Club
If pegula wants McDavid and is willing to pay huge to get him he can easily have him, if he buys the Oilers...... Now if you want to talk about realistic deals with edmonton, they may now be willing to deal one of the 3 other 1st round picks they drafted over the last few seasons to upgrade goaltending or defence. -
what would you consider the rebuild a success

and you would be correct if the ultimate goal is to win a championship. The key to it is how acceptable the risk was to fail. If you made some big moves in FA, or brought in a new coach and failed to win a championship, the failure might be a little more tolerable because the step back taken might not be as big as dumping all of the talent on the roster and going through these last few years of crap to just get back to where they were, or where they could have been with a few good moves. Many tankers would say this had to be done and they had no choice, but the problem with this team wasn't that they could be bad enough to draft a good player, it was that they had a gm for so long that was unwilling to make a big move to trade a prized prospect or pick to get someone, and for a while had a restrictive budget to try and sign better quality players. Pegs tried a different approach for about 18 months then scrapped it to blow everything up -

exactly, the Sabres were the sharks basically and everyone said that's why they had to tank. Now that reality sets in everyone would just be happy with a good team that makes the playoffs with occasionally being in or near the finals? -

Without ATLEAST one cup, tanking was a failure. The whole point of 5 throwing away seasons to be the worst team was to get the very best young players to win a cup. If they don't win one it was a waste of time and a failure. Because they could have achieved the same results without going through the "sUffering". (Technically not getting McDavid would make this entire tank a failure since the team getting him didn't have to be this bad). There's a very good chance the tank will have been a failure, there's no guarantee that any team will win a cup because they have a certain player or record. There no one way to build a team...... -
tolerate it? It's usually Sabres fans that cause it because they sell those games off knowing it will pay off their season tickets to do it......
-
He is intimidating, or a "shield", he's a scum bag cheap shot artist Let the other 29 GMS fight for him, I'd pass

I don't see why Babcock leaves Detroit unless its a huge upgrade. I don't think he leaves just because they get saint mcdavid. IF he leaves Detroit, I think he goes to Toronto and is given the head coach with full say on players (ie GM title to go with it). They can pay just as much as the Sabres and give him complete control which TM won't do. The Sabres will wait to see all options available, will probably make a call to Babcock, then hire TMs first choice all along, Richardson TM can sugar coat the firing all he wants but it was obvious to everyone that Nolan was gone and it was because he wasn't a good soldier and wouldn't lay down and lose games like management wanted. Management wanted him to lose, he knew in order to continue to have a coaching career afterwards he had to try and won no matter what. Murray only wanted a placeholder for now to take the heat til they start trying to win again And he could bring in his guy. That's why he and Nolan didn't get along The only place where TM is not looking bad to the rest of the world is in Buffalo by Sabres fans. Read comments from other hockey fans and they all say the Sabres should never have fired him since it was management that wanted to tank

Game discussion thread GDT: HELL YES BEAT THE PENS 4/11/15
apuszczalowski replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
If I was playing in this game, I would give the fans what they wanted, roll over and let the pens win and then just ignore them while skating immediately off the ice to the lockerroom at the end The fans got what they want, cheering against the team for a possible future name on the back, now they should all act like none of it happened and All is forgotten -
but I thought the penguins did tank to get Crosby? That's what all the tankers keep saying why are they not loyal to the Sabres? Because they want to see a team at least try to compete and not put garbage out on the ice to get a slightly better chance of drafting one player That may or may not lead to a cup. So far the last saviour generational player crosby has only brought his team one cup I question the tankers being loyal to the Sabres cause they don't care about the team, they care about one name to go on the back of the team and are willing to cheer against the Sabres to get that name their general manager basically came out and said it, they were tanking for mcdavid
-
What the Sabres organisation did this season is an actual tank, they went into this season with the full intention of being the worst and did not attempt to make this year's team anything but the worst. They brought in a few veterans that could use up salary cap space and dumped talent during the season for potential future help. Arizona and Toronto went into the season at least trying to be something better then the worst and maybe make the playoffs, then when that wasn't looking possible they dumped some players to try to get a better draft spot. The players did just start to play better, these guys haven't been playing bad all season on purpose, they just don't have the talent to be a good team. And it seems month to month the roster looks different. The team that played in December and January looks much different then the team that played in march, because of trades and injury. The players on this team right now don't give a crap if the Sabres get mceichel or if they draft 30th. Many of these guys are playing to keep a roster spot or a career in the NHL. Why would they want to roll over and play bad so the fans get their saviour when it could mean they lose their spot on this team and maybe cost them a spot in the NHL?
-
if Murray is a half decent gm, he should be able to make this team better without needing mceichel. In the last 10 years 9 out of the last 10 cup winners have done it without a "generational superstar" (unless of course "generation" is 1-2 years)
-
again, as been said before many times, this is not just a team being bad getting the first pick, the difference is that the Sabres INTENTIONALLY made themselves bad by dumping all of their talent for picks and prospects, and went into the season with the intention of being the worst team. This isn't even the same as last year with this team, at least last year they went into the season with the intention of trying to be a good team, then when they were out of contention sold off talent. Problem is, no other franchise has then decided to continue to just make themselves worse and try to be the worst. They try to improve the team and get better. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (edmonton) But go ahead and keep thinking that everyone's just upset because buffalo is doing it. name me one of the recent Stanley Cup winners that intentionally went into a season with the goal of being the worst team at the beginning of the season to get the top pick in the draft. It's ok, I will wait....... the last time a team "tanked" in the NFL was when the Colts sucked for luck, how many teams in the NFL in the last decade have had the #1 overall pick and won a superbowl? The majority of these ideas for changing the draft lotery are over complicating it. Playoffs, points for wins after being eliminated, using results over previous years, making the lottery for the next season are all just over complicating it. As I said previously, if you don't make the playoffs, your in the lottery and all draft spots are drawn so it won't matter if your dead last or almost made the playoffs, your draft spot is determined by a random draw. Makes for a good TV broadcast for the lottery too
-
the problem isn't drafting high, it's intentionally sabotaging your roster by dealing away the majority of your talent to make yourself bad enough to get the first overall pick. Good teams and GMS cam build a winning team without having to be the worst team in recent history hoping to have the best odds at the #1 pick. Want to stop tanking, make the draft lottery for every draft position for all teams that don't make the playoffs. Meaning a team that misses the playoffs by a point could chose first overall and the team coming in dead last can pick last before all of the playoff teams. Tanking would be meaningless and would make fights for the last playoff spots more exciting cause teams will continue to try and make the playoffs instead of giving up and playing for a draft spot. The only negative for the league is it could make the trade deadline less exciting with less teams willing to have fire sales
-
And who will be in charge of determining in if the entire skate blade is touching the ice or part of it is off the ice? Just what sports need, another call where the officials make judgement calls
-
Your example is a completely different situation where playoffs are involved. I'm not disagreeing that a player in the playoffs might come back not 100%, but when has that happened to a player on a non playoff team who isn't looking for a new contract? Bogosian has no reason to come back if he doesn't think he is ready and healthy enough And people here need to stop acting like they are actually concerned about his health or safety, this is all about everyone being afraid of the precious tank crosby now, sure, he has playing experience now in the NHL is I'd a veteran, not some 18 year old kid with no NHL experience who may be as good as crosby.
-
If he isn't healthy he won't be coming back, but if he is able to come back it means he is healthy enough to do it And I doubt he would rush things and play if he didn't feel healthy enough to do it. But maybe the front office hasn't told him about McEichel getting to Centre one of the lines yet? Who wouldn't get excited to find out that they aren't good enough to win until they get an 18 year old with no problems experience to come in and make them all better.......
-
you really think pro athletes who have been playing a game their whole lives at the top level want to lose because some young kid might get drafted and make them better? You think ennis is sitting at home thinking "man, if mceichel, a young kid comes here with zero NHL experience, he is going to make me such a better player....." yeah, cause that wouldn't cause an uproar from the NHL players association, management putting healthy players on IR to give the team a better chance at losing
-
But how can it be possible that Pittsburgh is not a dynasty with multiple cups, they did everything right and tanked to get a generational player to go with a bunch of other top picks......
-
I was leaning heavily towards the HTC M8 but got a better deal on the s5, plus the place I got the phone from was carrying the m8. I was told that the m9 was going to be a good one, I don't like the new s6 that was coming out soon
-
I just went through this a few weeks ago. I went from a blackberry z10 to the ģalaxy s5 and it's been great so far. I found the note was too big to carry around as a guy who would carry a phone in my pockets. I was looking at the HTC one M8, the Motorola and the galaxy. Most places recommended the galaxy or wait for the M9. One place also told me to look into the G3. So far the only complaint I have with the galaxy is with the auto correct. Otherwise it's been a great phone.

yeah, there's no way the Sabres could beat the Canucks..
