Thats usually how I look at and judge coaches. Do they need to force a system onto the players in order to be good, or can they adapt to coaching what they have.

I don't think it mattered. The issue is more if Botts thinks he is worth what Skinner is going to ask for, not who the coach will be I don't think there was ever an issue between Skinner and Housley, but there will be an issue between what Botts wants to pay and what Skinner wants to be paid

Its ok, Botts just needs 6-8 weeks to evaluate Phils tenure as a HC here before he makes the decision to pull the trigger or not...... You wouldn't want him to make a rush decision on something like this....

Well it would be different circumstances, this time he would be expected to get them to play well and win instead of embarrassing themselves by losing every game....

It is relevant because even the greatest player to play the game can be traded, it just shows no one is untouchable. There may have been other circumstances behind the deal, but it still shows that any player can be moved.

I dont know, for the last few years here (and for a long time on the Bill's board) everyone keeps saying how you have to tank to get the best pick possible if your not a contender. Winning out or getting 'meaningless wins' late in the season dont so anything for the team except cost them draft positioning. Apparently you just accumulate highly rated projects and one day flip the switch to start winning and become a contender.....

I said it when they signed him, he has never played a full season as a starter, he had one season over his career where he played around 60 games. He is a backup/1b at the very best. At his age, he is not likely to just become a very good starter.

The same could be said once when a team traded a young Wayne Gretzky.......

Yeah, but Murray went from 81 DOWN to 78, Botterill went from 62 UP to atleast 72, so since it is going UP, thats positive! Yup, just trying to see things from the sunshine and rainbows view and prepare for the worst that both of these guys are back next season to sell more damaged goods......

The fans booed before Lehner and after, they booed because Lehner and the rest of the Sabres looked and played like garbage whether on purpose to get better picks or just because they sucked. Fans were actually pretty good to Lehner when he told everyone afterwards his issues. Instead of saying thanks and accepting some blame, he decides to throw blame. What's sad is that I really thought this time might take some offence to his comments and play hard against him, Instead they just rolled over.......

Maybe the other poster was only pointing put the same thing but using woman hockey players instead 12U/house hockey players?

I was thinking that....... Maybe he needs to look back at how his time.in Buffalo went and instead of criticizing anyone else for what things were like, put the blame on himself first that he wasnt good here and that his off ice substance issues were probably the cause of it.
