  1. But now your insulting children/young adults who are out playing hockey for exercise, make friends, and play a game for fun.......
  2. If they fire Housley, the front office really needs to do their homework researching candidates and find the best choice who can work with what they have, not require a whole new group of players to fit their specific system. Unfortunately, most coaches in sports these days have their special systems they must run with specific players to be successful or else they cant make things work.
  3. Like what happened to O'Reilly that led the fan base to want him run out of town? As for Eichel as Captain, maybe he is similar to the Vanek type, good player who just isnt a leader? Just because someone is really good or skilled, doesnt mean they are or should be a leader.
  4. 2 pages by noon? I think the franchise might finally be turning it around!
  5. That is the worst rule. It happened this weekend at a Juniors game I was at, down 2-1 in the 3rd, goalie is down on his back, puck goes under him and then poked into the net, no whistle, goal light comes on, refs wave it off and make the Intent call. Game ends 3-1 after an empty netter
  6. Maybe they can trade the franchise to Seattle for their expansion franchise?
  7. It happened, but it has also been proven to be fluke and not representative of the actual team out there. The rest of the season has shown over long more consistent periods of time that this team is at best, as bad as the team last year, but because of a fluke 10 game win streak, will look better and improved on paper when it really isnt. This team cant even string together 2 wins in a row
  8. In other words, "I would normally have fired him months ago, but have been told by sports people that you need to be patient so we will give him more time......."
  9. "He always kept a tidy office at the arena, came in saying Hi to every one in the building and occasionally brought un muffins" will that be enough to keep his job?
  10. Everyone should petition MSG to instead of playing the Sabres games, they just replay clips of 'Wide Right', 'Homerun Throwback', 'No Goal', 'The lottery drawing from the McDavid draft' and the various other Buffalo sports Highlights on repeat. It might be more enjoyable and less painful to watch then a Sabres Game right now.......
  11. I can see it too if the decision is left to Botts to make. He has to evaluate and throuroghly calculate and think over his next move before making it. Cant make a rash decision firing Housley before they give him some more time to evaluate his system..... Atleats they are entertaining and improved over last year......
  12. I agree, in hindsight you can assume they would have taken certain players with those picks, but they could have also taken one of the many other players taken around that spot. And yes, those guys arent any better then depth, which isnt great because you can get depth anywhere. They need players who can make an impact outside of needing to get them in the top couple spots of the draft.
  13. But Progress! They are better then last year (barely) and entertaining (sometimes)! Atleast fans can continue doing something they have become used to, cheering losses for another tank!
  14. Looking at more then half the list you have of guys that were drafted before TM just scream Meh....... I dont see many of them lighting up the league and forcing the Sabres to regret trading them away. TMs problem wasnt speeding up the rebuild, he obtained real talent for what he gave up, the problem was he was a horrible negotiator who have up way too much to get what he fell on love with. Add to that bad coaching, and the Sabres being unable/unwilling to keep the talent acquired around and you get a team chasing its tail and looking horrible. A 1st was too much to give up for an unproven goalie coming up serious concussion issues. Way too much was given up to acquire Kane, who should have been had for very little since the Sabres were one of the only ones that would trade for him prior to the deadline knowing he would be out the rest of the year, after it was very well known he wouldnt be coming back to the Jets. Then, they trade away Kane for less then they spent to get him cause they didnt want to pay for someone to score goals, trade away O'Reily for almost nothing without much of a backup plan for a 2nd C, and let Lehner walk only to find out his issues were mental and substance abuse. It's harder to rebuild and get better when you are constantly spinning your wheels trying to replace talent you gave away for nothing. Botts problem is he is too methodical, he has to over think things and over evaluate things before making decisions. We keep hearing how they are still evaluating guys on the roster, and now theres a good chance Skinner could be let go for nothing because he wanted to make extra sure that he would do well before talking extension instead of working on a deal early on. GMs have to rely on their gut and make their evaluations based on what someone has already done or else they get screwed. If he didnt think Skinner was worth keeping around long term, why trade for him in the first place? We all knew he was a good player, and no one expected him to play the way he has, but they could have signed him to a much more reasonable deal when they made the trade then what he is going to get now.
  15. Man, they can even think of 3 things you need to know about this game. The second thing is how they lost yesterday and had 2 goals but one was called back, by 3 they think it's important to remind everyone it's the final night for bidding on jerseys.........
  16. Why, So Edmonton would feel compelled to throw in their 1st next year and take Okposo too? They dont need Chiarelli in place to make a hockey trade of a swap of those 2 players.
  17. But I think that was because it was his only option, he has said before he doesnt like guys from there in the draft (Canadian leagues) because of the rules requiring them to be in the NHL or sent back to juniors
  18. That's what happens in a rebuild and your top picks are moved into the NHL roster. Their top picks have all been put on the NHL roster recently and dont count as prospects anymore.
  19. Yup, talked about him a few posts up from this, he has looked good in the OHL, a place that Botteril seems to hate though....
  20. If they cant win this game, theres no reason why Housley should keep his job, he has lost the team. (I'm not saying winning this game he should keep his job, but losing it should all but put the last nail in the coffin) I think they end up winning, possibly something like 5-2 and they act like they just did something big/special. The fans are just as pissed as if they were blown out because now they are costing themselves a slightly better draft pick/chance to win the lottery......
  21. You would expect it would be easy for them to know this considering he is one of the few players on the team that actually shoots and scores....... I could understand this mistake with half the rest of the team because honestly, how many times do you see the rest of them shoot or score?
  22. As a Canadian, I agree, keep him in Buffalo............... But as a Sabres fan, I say spend some time looking over talent so maybe you can find players better then TT in your trades? Shouldn't he be the GM for Sweeden though? He seems to be all over those players........
  23. Yup, hardly an invasion when its Sabres season ticket holders selling them their tickets to help subsidize their purchase.....
  24. Well the last few years they have scheduled all the Toronto games at the end of the season, so your probably right that next year they will all be at the start.
  25. I hear they are petitioning the league to just not play the first period......
