The lead ones are tasty!

Probably JB and TP paid the Caps player to take Skinner out. Now he cant score more and drive up his cost, and without him the Sabres wont be expected to make th playoffs taking pressure off Housley and JB wont be expected to do much at the deadline......genius!
-
I do if they intend to bring someone up and it's a choice between a couple guys that near the deadline they chose someone that they want to showcase for a potential trade
-
Dont worry guys, this games in the bag, I picked the Caps......
-
The article I read this morning was saying this move is to showcase both of them to move them at the deadline since neither really have a place on the roster.

But that was also in an era where Don Cherry would release videos of the biggest hits and fights from the season every year and the violence was accepted and cheered. We are now in an era where player safety has become a priority because theres a different understanding of what can happen from taking these kinds of hits.

I predict it will be a disappointing one again. Botteril is the type of guy who takes things at his own pace and wont make any quick moves without careful and thorough evaluation (look at the Skinner situation where he wanted to see more of him rather then try and make a deal before he continued on the pace he was going and getting more expensive). They saw this as another building/development year and wont make and rash decision to try for the playoffs because it wasnt part of the plan for this year. He will make some moves after the season for next year where they will have a goal of making the playoffs. Had they made the playoffs this year it would have just been gravy for them, but they dont want to risk any potential in the future by not sticking to their plan. I would expect there may be a few veteran UFAs moved if teams are interested, but I would not expect them to buy unless it's a young almost ready prospect or someone with some term left on their deal

GDT: Sabres @ Lightning, 7:30pm, February 21, 2019

I really doubt this crossed their minds...... -
Josh Ho Sang saying 'nicely' he would like to be traded. Read an article where he said if it helps the Islanders become a better team he doesnt mind being a trade chip at the deadline. Just wants to play in the NHL. He has always had a reputation that he needs to mature but also seems like the Islanders will never give him a chance and he needs to move on. As much as I would like to see the Sabres take a chance on him, i dont think they have the lockerroom too help him

GDT: Sabres @ Lightning, 7:30pm, February 21, 2019

This is the game they will win. Against good teams, they come out, play well and win, then they go and make last place teams look like Stanley cup contenders.... -
So we will never get to see him score as a Sabre?

So, last night even the Bruins were hoping that Thorton would score Nother goal against them to make it 4....... They remember his quote from when Hertl as a rookie scored 4 goals in a game and people accused him of showboating. When they asked Thorton if he thought it was showboating and he said "Hell No, if it was me scoring 4 goals I would have my 'gentlemen sausage' out waving it around and stroking my 'gentlemen sausage' " The Bruins players seemed to be ready to hold him to his quote......

Trade: Ryan O'Reilly to St Louis Blues
apuszczalowski replied to CallawaySabres's topic in The Aud Club
Skinner trade is only an A+ if he re-signs here, if not it's much lower because it resulted in nothing but Skinner improving his value after 1 season here and leaving. The trade does nothing for the Sabres except for giving up picks and a prospect to let Skinner improve his value. -
I dont disagree about experience, but that's now an offseason move, not for a rental this late in the season.

I thought Richter was in?
-
Yeah, it's not going to happen, Bots will be given time, I'm sure just like the Bill's, he was hired after giving them his long term slow rebuild plan that will provide a dynasty team who after a complete teardown, will compete for a long time. He came over from Pittsburgh so he must know their secret. Housley may be shown the door before him though if it appears he really isnt cut out to be a HC. I bet that no playoffs this year puts him on a short leash next year if he doesnt have the team turned around.

These young guys dont eat bread and carbs, those things are poison! Apparently... Theres a commercial here for either insurance or investments or something and it has 3 young NHL rookies in the lockerroom drinking Kale smoothies, then the camera goes accross to a table with 3 vets (Doug Gilmore is one, think Mike Vernon another) and they have giant plates of spaghetti with a huge pepper grinder, and Gilmore looks over and says "Hey, dont you guys carb load anymore?"
-
If this team was playoff bound, I also have no problem. With experience on the downward part, but this team isnt playoff bound this year. Unless they get someone with term or whom they can resign, sit out the deadline shopping and just sell off some parts to real contenders......
-
They usually accept trash in their deals so it might work! I would give them Nylander.....

My wife looked some of this up last night and the only American born goalie in the HOF is Richter. And yeah, names like Belfour would come to mind but then remember that he is actually Canadian (heard he spends his time now playing in pickup and beer leagues outside of Toronto) The Euro goalies are all more recent guys. As for Quick, I think injuries and whether he stays in LA will determine if he can take the title from Miller. How far off is Quick right now?

That's strange that the US hasnt had many good goaltenders. Canada was big for them, and it now appears Europe is pumping them out now too.
