OHL Trade: Matiej Pekar has been Traded To Sudbury
apuszczalowski replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I don't think the NHL team holding a players rights in one of the league's in the CHL have any pull as to what happens with that player, Botterill and the Pegulas have no say in where they play. If the NHL wants control they WOD have to have them on their roster. Juniors and college are different then the minor leagues. The Sabres could probably speak to the GM of the juniors team and ask them to do something, but the junior team can do what they want. As for the trades in Juniors, typically, because players are only eligible to play in the league for a small window, they go through cycles of competitiveness (except for the London Knights who just always seem to be at the top...). Teams build up, make a run for a year or 2, use picks to grab some of the top players, then rebuild by dealing guys away for picks. Last year Niagara tried to make a run and picked up the league's top scorer, this year they dealt away Akil Thomas, their top player who just scored the gold medal winning goal at the juniors tournament for Canada and got a young player and 4 picks. They also dealt away their next top player Tomasino for 9 draft picks. They will trade for multiple picks over many years (next year it's going to change and you won't be able to trade picks outside a 4 year window). One of the things I was surprised to see that they have in Juniors is 'No Trade Clauses' -
Have the Oilers submitted a request to forfeit tonight's game yet?

And he's already back on waivers......

That could be TPegs new slogan for the team, 'Sabres Hockey, it's better than nothing!' -

Well there you have it, the missing piece! So which way should the parade route go through the streets of Buffalo? -
Lafreniere is back for this game I believe

I don't see them moving, hockey and the NHL are still an 'affordable' sport for franchise ownership in smaller markets. They don't need billionaires for owners like the NFL does or the NBA, and they can play to 15-20k fans per game. If the NHL for some reason takes off and becomes more popular across the entire US, then maybe Buffalo would eventually be priced out of the sport, but I don't see it happening. As for what would I do if they moved. I would probably still follow them to wherever they moved to. I have no attachment to the City of Buffalo. I live less then 30 minutes away from the arena over the big invisible line that's supposed to make me a Leafs fan. I am a fan of the Bills and Sabres but don't care about the City they are located in. I could see if they ever were to relocate, the NHL would want them to be moved to somewhere nearby such as Hamilton, or make them the second GTA/Toronto franchise so they could try and retain some of the fanbase and rivalry with Toronto without saturating the Southern Ontario market which could hurt Buffalo

EDIT Bogosian Requests Trade, Now EROD wants One As Well
apuszczalowski replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Has the GM really brought in talent to push these guys down? ERod and BOGO are still on the Roster. BOGO didn't lose his spot because of better players, he lost it because he can't stay healthy on the ice to get back into a spot where he can be relied on, and ERod is now being scratched cause he isn't producing. The GM has failed cause he hasn't improved the roster outside of picking up Skinner last season. Otherwise he has made some more minor moves while continuing to evaluate the roster and waiting for prospects to develop. The front office has made the team a laughingstock in the league that even bad players are embarrassed to play for. ERod should be thanking the franchise for giving him a chance to stick on an NHL roster instead of looking to be moved. BOGO should be thankful the Sabres have kept him around on a roster that gives him medical coverage cause his medical bills may have exceeded his contract by now since he was acquired...... -
Looking at the standings, I can't believe Russias only win was a beat down of Canada it was one of the worst losses by Canada at the Juniors tournament Putin won't be happy that his team is sitting at the bottom with Germany right now.......

The Sabres have moved Saturday's game to 1pm.
apuszczalowski replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
They are throwing tantrums on facebook right now complaining about how bad of a move this is. From the looks of it, if the time change is an issue, the Sabres are asking the fans complaining to call the ticket office, I get the impression they will either refund your tickets or swap tickets for another game. -
So few to chose from.......

Tantrums being thrown by fans on Facebook right now because of the time change People complaining because they think everyone is now inconvenienced because of this......

GDT: Buffalo at Ottawa, Dec. 23, 2019, 7:30 ET, MSG, WGR
apuszczalowski replied to Doohickie's topic in The Aud Club
It's easy McCabe was a prospect people around here thought was going to be special (like almost all prospects around here) Rodrigues IIRC was a friend off Jack's from his college team...... Sherry played for Pittsburgh....... And the Buffalo front office has a huge hard on for Vesey...... -
Now 6-4 with about 15 minutes left......
-
Its mind boggling why they even signed him in the first place.

apuszczalowski replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
But then wouldn't we all be cheering for him to fail and not score? -
I think the only time I was ever able to go see at the Aud was Against teh Lightning, not long after they came into the league, the Sabres lost 6-1 I think? I went with 2 of my friends and their dads, we sat in the upper level I believe, don't remember much else.

Not NHL, but in the OHL tonight the Niagara vs London game in St Catharines was canceled almost a minute into the 2nd period when a Niagara and London player went down and collided with the Niagara goalie in the net. The Niagara goalie tried to get up and when he did he went back down and there was a pool of blood around his leg. Paramedics worked on him for 10 minutes then took him off the ice on a stretcher. It looked like the typical colision when 2 players end up in the net, a skate blade must have caught the goalie in an area that was exposed.

Goaltending should be the first fix, but won’t be.

GDT: Sabres at Vancouver 12/07/19 4 pm EST
apuszczalowski replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
Watching the repeat this morning on Sportsnet...... Hutton - I said from the time they signed him that he hasn't shown enough to be a #1 goalie, he only had one season where he played close to a full season as a starter. Tanking is not an answer, and you can't just decide to tank and then build a team that will continue to be a contender for years, no team is built on just young prospects from your system. When you have the ability to make your team better, you do it no matter if your not making the playoffs or a player doesn't fit their development time. Myers gets his first goal with the Canucks playing against the Sabres, Lucic gets his first goal as a Flame against the Sabres (the eventual winner) and I'm calling Kassian in his return to the Oilers lineup gets the winner tonight, just because..... -
High end talent available (Hall) and Botts isn't interested, underperforming young player on his third team available and that's what's needed to fix this team.....
-
I think he may have Elite potential, but is most likely more of a next tier player. He has had games where he shows he can be elite, and then goes on stretches where he seems to be just another player out there. The problem with this topic is what is the definition of Elite?
-
They are investigating the allegation made against him and others that now seem to be coming out. He hasn't been punished or fired yet. And yes, the PM wore makeup to darken his skin years ago as part of costumes at parties, had to apologize and still managed to get re-elected, mostly because now one this side of Saskatchewan trusted the other option.....
-
I would throw on anything else they want to not include the waste of space Lucic. The Sabres have their own dead weight hanging around.....
