  1. This team seems like it has trouble handling any kind of adversity, as soon as the 1st Islander goal was scored, it looked like they gave up, up till then they looked like they were putting forth an honest effort. Unfortunately Nabokov was on top of his game. I don't see Darcy making a trade (surprised), so maybe Rolston should start limiting some ice time or sitting people. I would start with the "Captain," he has been floating for the last 2 weeks, recording 1 point in the last 9 games. Give the C to someone that deserves it and will put in the work.
  2. I can never understand all the dislike for Ennis, he's 1 point away from being tied for 2nd on the team and the only forward other than the top line that has produced, yet people always want to shift him somewhere or trade him at the 1st opportunity.
  3. Unfortunately they didn't show slo-mo of earlier in the fight, where Kassian landed one that put him on his knees or the 2-3 that connected right before that.
  4. Happy Birthday. From what I saw in the Leafs game, I think we'll see a lot more aggressiveness in the defensive zone, most of the time they were attacking the players at the point, instead of just letting them wind up and shoot, sure there may be times when this bites them in the ass, but I think it's better than allowing all those uncontested shots from the point.
  5. 0. I think the biggest asset of any coach and his staff is teaching, just about everything a professional athlete does has been taught to him, and they can continue to learn. You can definitely teach someone to skate faster, or shoot straighter or whatever, that's probably a lot more on the staff and trainers than the head coach, but still players can be taught to improve in those areas. As far as toughness on the puck, a lot of that comes down to desire, if a player really believes in the "system" and feels like he's part of it and also respected/ appreciated, he's gonna try harder. I know for myself, any job I ever had, if the boss/owner treated me good and I liked what I was doing, I tried much harder than someplace where I felt unappreciated or disrespected. Good coaches make average players better, not good players average.
  6. Isn't this where sports analytics comes in ? I really don't know much about it other than it being discussed about more in the NFL and the little I have read about, it seems to me like it's about improving results by studying stats and patterns.
  7. I think what he said is a bit different than calling a player out.
  8. I heard that he said something to the effect that he didn't like addressing the team right after a game, when emotions from a win or loss are involved. I can't remember the exact words, but that's what I made out of it. To me this makes some sense, if you're the kind of coach that doesn't wear his emotions on his sleeve or a screamer and wants to get the message through in a "controlled" sense.
  9. To me it looked like when the Ott goal was called off, it took everything out of the Sabres, things started to look better in the 3rd until the penalties (especially the Hecht penalty) killed any real hope. I certainly had a better feeling coming out of this game than I had with the Jets game.
  10. I like the way they are more aggressive and attacking the points in the defensive zone, it got old seeing 5 guys down below the faceoff circle.
  11. If we were to trade Vanek, I'd sure want more than O'Reilly and a pick in return.
  12. I don't think that Rolston has ever seen the kid play, unlike most of the young players on the Sabres. I also think he'll have him back in the lineup after he can see him in a practice or two and has a chance to "coach" him.
  13. My expectations are not super high for the rest of the season, but I think we'll see the team rejuvenated some, it seemed that the team lost hope in itself and in Lindy. Hopefully this will be the thing that shakes them up and gets them playing to their potential and while that may not be great, it 's certainly better than what they have shown.
  14. Probably some nobody. Only kidding, much respect.
  15. WGR is saying their sources say it will be Patrick as the interim, to be replaced by Ron Rolston.
  16. Although he did have a Calder winner and a Vezina winner and still took a 1st round exit.
  17. Maybe he wanted to break the bad news to her, that he wasn't traded.
  18. Darcy said that he was talking to a lot of teams, now that that's over, he can go back to sleep till April.
  19. How long will it be before the fans that are leaving halfway through the 3rd period stop coming at all and we start seeing 15,000 and less. If Sabres fans weren't so starved for hockey, this franchise would be in trouble.
  20. http://www.quotation...njamin Franklin Really, there are like 4 different people that are credited with that quote, the earliest is some Viking guy, it really doesn't matter who said it, it's what Ruff is doing. IMO
  21. I guess throwing ###### against the wall and seeing if it sticks is Lindy's way of reinventing himself (not that he hasn't done it before). I was optimistic for a win tonight.
  22. It is "doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results", but it was Ben Franklin that first said it, but none the less I agree with the point.
  23. I think it was bush league, if someone did that to our goalie when the game was over, we'd be screaming what a POS. I like Ott, but he should of has his ass handed to him for doing that. I'm trying to be objective and not base it on the fact that Ott is a Sabre, any player, other than another goalie that scraps or fights with a goalie needs to be punched.
  24. Give the C to Vanek, like it should of been given to him 4-5 years ago.
  25. :w00t: I know what you're saying and I do agree, but still when I saw it, I LMAO.
