Interesting. Lupuls first shift of the period. So Ted Nolan isn't the only coach who sends messages by scaling back playing time. Who knew ?

Nolan played effort guys over floaters like Hodgson. O.K. thats just plain mean. Does anyone give credence to the fact that the effort guys that were given the quality minutes were also ufa's at seasons end. Maybe it was an evil plan by GMTM and TN to try and raise their value at deadline time by giving them those minutes ? I know, outlandish and diabolical and in hindsight it never did much in what we received in return but this season was all about the future rather than the present. Next season the coach wether its Nolan or Budd McPherson will play the kids and start developing the future stars.

I'll answer your last question. Coaches that are put in place where the franchise has one goal which is to come in dead fukcin last. This team wasn't put together to succeed. Why is that so hard to figure out ? We weren't supposed to get better. We were clearly designed to capture the shart. With that in mind what coach could coach this sad sack collection of castoffs to respectability ? I'm not championing Nolan as some sort of saviour. Hell I don't care who coaches this team to respectability. Someone eventually will. But last year and this year wasn't the time for that to happen. So how can you then say fire the coach he hasn't developed any players. He is developing players into players that work for what they get which as he has said and gmtm has said is part of the plan. To use this time to change the culture. I don't care if Budd McPherson coaches this team but for the sake of the future of this team I hope he teaches these kids that hard work rules the day because if everything is given to them we'll be right back to watching a team of players going through the motions. Just my op.

So interesting to see some of the background stories on some of these characters that we came to love in breaking bad. Things are being tied together and making sense. Mike was such a likeable bad guy in breaking bad and was one of my favorites. That was a great episode.

My mom is in her seventies. She bent over to pick something up off the floor and when she stood back up she noticed what she called a floater in her vision. Living in a small community with only a clinic and no eye dr. she was told to make the drive to a larger centre where she could have it looked at. Mom and Dad made the 3 hour drive and were told she was lucky because she very well could have lost her vision in the eye if she hadn't sought help for the detatched retina right away. The dr. used the bubble method to hold it in place and she recovered.

Ted Nolan made it clear that players wouldn't be rewarded for going through the motions when he discussed Grigorenko being sent back down. That is not a flawed approach. That is how you change the culture of this team. That is how you lay the foundation. How do you tell a player that works his butt off that the guy that is going through the motions will get the icetime based on what he should be producing not on what he is producing despite a poor work ethic ? Cough cough Hodgson. Hard work and effort is paramount at this point. Every player at this stage in the teams growth has to know that. Some guys get it, some guys don't.
-
My post wasn't directed at you Liger. Many on the board throw blame in the wrong direction imo. Could coach Nolan perhaps do things differently ? Sure he could. There's no sense giving prime icetime to a player unless he learns to play the game the right way as GMTM is so fond of saying and that is what TN is trying to instil. These players and this team in the long run will be better for it when that culture is ingrained in the room. Work for what you get. No exceptions. In a couple of years it'll be these guys holding the new guys accountable.
-
Its kind of ironic in a year when GMTM and Ted Nolan have said they want to introduce hard work and accountability into this team that people on this site would rather take the responsibility off the shoulders of players like Grigorenko and Hodgson and blame the coach. Sounds about right. WTF ? These two players will get it eventually and it will be because they had a coach like Ted Nolan that tried to hold them accountable for their lack of compete. Its about fn time someone tried to change the culture of this franchise. It wasn't going to happen with the likes of Regier behind the wheel.

So its actually Edmonton 2 Detroit 1 ? No ? Oh never mind.

The past in this case has no bearing on the present or future. Those stats mean squat. I'll be biting my nails at lottery time regardless.

Kadri suspended by the loafs today for being late to practice. TN isn't the only coach in hockey holding these young guys accountable. Some for the first time in their lives I'm sure.

I suppose on this team they are all stars. On any other AHL team...?

Dion Phaneuf absolutely unloaded a beauty hit on TJ Oshie tonight. Nice clean shoulder on shoulder hit. Followed by the usual bullspit payback crap that seems to happen after even the clean hits.

This is a pathetic product on the ice. Thats why we're dead last. But if the coaches can teach them how to compete and as you say show heart, grit and determination in the process that will carry over as they add more talent. imo.
-
Doesn't aggravate me in the least. Coming into this season GMTM and Ted Nolan talked openly about the team learning to play the game the right way regardless of the loosing. Thats why I don't get my nickers in a knot when I see how Ted Nolan slots softies like Cody Hodgson onto the fourth line. Earn your icetime. Nothing will be handed to you. That was the way of Regiers teams. Not Murrays.

All I need to know about Sam I saw in the world juniors. If he can do that with his peers he will translate that skill and hockey smarts to the nhl because those will eventually be his peers. If he does that we will be fine with the skillset Sam brings to the Sabres. In my mind he was the mvp on team canada.
