Honestly its a legitimate question. Do you treat the star the same as a near star ? Thats all I'm asking. Is Eichel held out of an important game because he's late for a team stretch ? Because to me thats ridonculas but many on the board are saying there are no exceptions. In my opinion if we were in a playoff hunt and he is held out heads should roll. The coach should never handicap his own team. Even though the player is ultimately responsible other forms of punishment should and could be available. If this team was serious about winning.

If Dan were fired 20-25 games in it means we were dreadfully bad and at that point we are playing catchup for the remainder of the season. Not how I envision a successful campaign. The seasons a writeoff before it even gets started.

Swamp you and I both know a rules a rule. Its black and white. Etched in stone. We can't have room to wiggle because that goes against the culture we're tryin to grow. A fourth liner and a star need to feel the punishment equally so we'll make it a game suspension. Heck what would people think if we treated people differently ? As individuals ? As adults ? So it is the playoffs. Do they make up a new set of rules ? Do they suspend the rules ? Do guys not sleep in ? Just curious. I can't wait to see how its handled if and when it happens.

O.K. i'll say it again. I said it upthread and nobody ( not you nobody ) thought it worthy of an answer. Its game 7 of the finals against Calgary 2019. Morning yoga Eichel ( our star and front runner for the Conn Smythe ) sleeps in and is 15 minutes late. Because GMTM and double D thought it wise to etch the rules in stone ( black and white ) instead of leaving wiggle room ( grey ) they have no choice but to sit our star ( Eichel ) for the game. They've painted themselves into a corner. What say you ? Its their rule not mine I'm just offering an example of where this can go off the rails for the hardasses like ahem, ( sorry guys ) LTS and Pi . Thoughts ?

Anyone see the attempted hit by young tchachk on Drew Doughty last night? He jumped at least a foot into the air and turned his back to the hit ( a la Risto ) and almost decapitated Doughty. Doughty saw him last second and fell backwards to the ice to slide under the hit and avoid certain injury. Young Tchachk is a real piece of work.

Management and coaches don't like grey. They want black and white. So stanley cup finals 2019 Jack Eichel sleeps in for stretches the morning of game 7 against the Flames. The coach has no choice and no wiggle room to devise another form of punishment rather than sitting his star player in a game 7 because they preferred to make their rule book on tardiness etched in stone. There would be blood in the streets of Buffalo and heads would roll. And it would serve them right. Treat these guys like adults and they'll act like adults.

I could see showing up for the white board overboard meetings as a real kick in the nuts. If Murray had to raise the punishment because the brief reprimands weren't effective anymore then DD has lost the room.

Its like someone mentioned when the Crosby slash went unpunished. They'll penalize when you break a stick but let it go when you hit the body. I'm sure coaches are saying for gods sake just don't hit the stick. Its absolutely bush league but it is the N.H.L. so it is what it is. I doubt they'll ever get it right.
