Anyone see the attempted hit by young tchachk on Drew Doughty last night? He jumped at least a foot into the air and turned his back to the hit ( a la Risto ) and almost decapitated Doughty. Doughty saw him last second and fell backwards to the ice to slide under the hit and avoid certain injury. Young Tchachk is a real piece of work.

The coach has no choice and no wiggle room to devise another form of punishment rather than sitting his star player in a game 7 because they preferred to make their rule book on tardiness etched in stone. Its like someone mentioned when the Crosby slash went unpunished. They'll penalize when you break a stick but let it go when you hit the body. I'm sure coaches are saying for gods sake just don't hit the stick. Its absolutely bush league but it is the N.H.L. so it is what it is. I doubt they'll ever get it right.

In a league that hands out punishment based on injury/result rather than intent/transgression he should have received a penalty at the very least. A punch in the mouth would have been sufficient. But yeah it is routine in this league for those slashes. This one caught the finger just right. Or wrong depending how you view it.
