  1. He's the perfect guy though. You need that guy to that the fall. Even the Penguins fired coaches (and GM) during Sidney Crosby's rookie season. There is only so far Nolan can take us. When the team starts to turn the corner, i have no doubts Murray will go out and hire his own guy to take us the remainder of the way.
  2. Somehow, i don't think that's how Darren Dreger does work. You've made that conclusion already after 34 NHL games by Ristolainen?
  3. It broke shortly before i posted it here and SI added it into the column about the NBA tv deal. lol
  4. NBC Sports has hired Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger per si.com. http://www.si.com/more-sports/2014/10/06/espn-nba-television-deal-media-circus
  5. Pretty excited to see how my picks work out. I did some homework and came up with a strategy and came away with most of the players i had pencilled in to grab.
  6. Happy draft day guys! Looking forward to it. See ya tonight!
  7. Carolina is up +19 in corsi through 2 periods. And McCabe's goal is the Sabres' 21st of preseason, tying their mark from last preseason.
  8. Btw, for those thinking the Sabres may be peaking a little early due to this recent run, just know that last year's #1 seed in the West the Colorado Avalanche are 0-5-1, 7 goals for, 19 goals against. It's pre-season folks....
  9. Not saying Weber is great, because i don't think he's very good, but it is pre-season. Sabres scored 21 goals last season in pre-season. Just slightly above that pace this year.
  10. I had tickets and hoped to go, but i didnt get out of work until 6pm and at that point i figured i'd be better to just grab dinner and watch it on TV instead of driving from Rochester. But, the announced 7k is a record for the USA Prospects game so i guess even though i wish the number was higher, it is still a good showing. All in all, it's a pre-season exhibition game. I think the Connor McDavid regular season game will generate more buzz since it's an actual game. I also believe if this game was played mid season, like the CHL Prospects game, i think it'd fill up some more too. Hanifin looked great. One guy who also could be a top target by the Sabres on BC is Colin White. One player to really impress me last night was Alec Baer. Very good with the puck. Gonna keep an eye on him this season as he plays in the WHL, i think he can really shoot up the rankings. He was #8 on Team Grier.
  11. Very strong squad tonight by Ted Nolan. Happy to see hard work pays off for Tim Schaller. Could be this years Kevin Porter. Interested to see Chris Stewart. He's been very impressive all summer long, from the way he conducts himself in interviews and in practice that ive seen. Also, Henrik Tallinder is in the Leafs lineup tonight in case anyone cares. He's fighting for his NHL-life.
  12. The defense is weak but you have to remember, most of the XI are brand new, with a new coach and a new system. These types of things take time to adjust to the chemistry. I wouldn't be too worried about Man United at all. Chelsea is and was going to be the run away league winner anyways, and United will still finish top 4.
  13. Good post. The 2015 draft is loaded and if the Sabres prospects pan out for the most part, they can get away without picking either McDavid or Eichel and be fine. But, the reality of the team is, we will finish no higher then 5th worse. Probably in the 2-4 range. If they have another bad season and some prospects start to show bust-effects (Armia?), it will be a tough pill to swallow drafting 4th. In the long run, it could be ok but it will be a major buzz kill to the rebuild process.
  14. Thanks guys, i took your advice and went with Maclin. Tough break on Moreno's injury though.
  15. I havn't seen any games but based on reports of those who are there, Armia, Samuel-Thomas and Reinhart have all played very well. Which makes me scratch my head since they have no points and have been a line. Not sure how three of our best players can play together and not produce a single point as a line?
  16. Not Sabrespace related, but need help in my throwball league. Do i start Jeremy Maclin or Knowshon Moreno in the flex spot tomorrow ?
  17. Falcao, Rojo and Blind make their United debuts in a few hours.... :)
  18. Excited to be in the same division as the defending champion and co-champion. Can't wait til the draft!
  19. lol all good. I figured there was some mix up. haha
  20. My entire post was about Armia...
  21. I guess to me, i'm just concerned about his play. He's a 21 year old who has 3 years of experience against men. He should be dominating some of these games. The overall picture, wins and loses, i could careless about. Of course it's always nice to win. Hate picking on Armia, guess this AHL season will tell us quite a bit about him though. He had 6 points in 5 playoff games, i just have my doubts he can continue that kind of streak in the AHL or even a ppg rate based on what i've seen from him so far.
  22. Bothers me too, however Armia did have an assist today.
  23. I feel the same. I didn't listen, so all i am basing it on game recaps, this forum and my own speculation. While i wish they would play well, it doesn't mean too much as you said. Somethings, however, i would like to see. This isn't Joel Armia's first rodeo. I would of liked to see him explode. I mean, he's a puckhandler, supposedly. Has struggled ever since his concussion in the Finn league, and has looked awful with the Amerks and in the past never really impressed at Traverse City tournament either. Now, he's one of the older player (i assume, didn't look at Carolina's roster), and he was playing with Reinhart, i would of really liked to see him show that with younger/less talented players, he can separate himself. I've had my doubts on him for a while and im just waiting til he proves me wrong and each time he plays, he's just a dud.
