He also lost a key faceoff in his own zone on the power play in the 1st period that led to a high quality SH scoring chance for the Rangers. I only watched the first period but it seems like more of the same from him.

Sabres trade Jokiharju to Boston for a 4th round pick

I also thought Joker was trying to be a bit more physical this season, and when comparing him to Mule and Power he might be, but we have too many of these pushovers right now so as long as we are moving some of them out I’m happy. IMO this year’s trade deadline is brought to you by Lindy Ruff. He wasn’t happy with the roster and they couldn’t move everyone before the season, but the purge is in effect. Im interested to see how the off-season goes. The Sabres still have tons of player assets they can move for a top 6 player and heavier D -
Sabres trade Jokiharju to Boston for a 4th round pick

Finally this guy is gone. One of the softest players on the softest team. Curious what the return is… -
The lots right off Exit 6 (Elm St and Swan St) take cash, but it is a solid 10 minute walk to the stadium. Bring a $10 exactly in case there isn't someone working the lot and you have to put it in the box.

I have a much different take. Most of the players on the Sabres are still not at their peak potential, or even close to it (Cozens, Peterka, Powers, Byram, Benson, Kulich). How many players do you think should be on these rosters from the youngest team in the league? IMO Tage, Dahlin, and UPL should be, with the latter making it due to a smaller pool of goalies for the Swedes to pick from. That is 3 players. Joker got lucky and I hope he looks amazing so some desparate GM can overpay for him in a trade. That is 4 this year, and only 3 were actually selected. An optimist might say a couple years from now the Sabres could have 6-8 players that SHOULD be selected in a series like this. I'm not that optimist, but I'd like to be...

What will be the Sabres approach at the trade deadline?
SHAAAUGHT!!! replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Agreed on the risk and this is why the Sabres should bring in someone that plays a simliar strong defensive game that could 1) reduce the shifts Greenway needs to take per game, 2) be able to step in and handle that load during injuries. 3) keep Greenway (and themselves) motivated to continue to improve their game. This team needs more players with similar skill sets competing for roles, including options from Rochester. Too many finesse and smaller forwards in the organization that can't step in and play Greenway's role, and we all saw the impact it had to the Sabres game when he did go out of the lineup. -

He has looked good when in the lineup this year and I think this is why Greenway is an ok signing at the right price. I would be ok signing him for 1-2 years/$2M AAV to play 50-60 games a year. I wouldn't want to go more than 2 years because of the injury history and concern he might throttle back his effort with a longer contract. -
Yeah, I'm going to need an actual source here for this claim because that's the same old tired line owners say to manipulate local officials and fans to come to the table with tax breaks. The owners are not allowed to make these decisions in a vacuum and when teams are sold they usually don't move. This is a non-issue and just an excuse that encourages mediocracy. The Poogoolas have run this franchise into the ground for 14 years and still have no problems selling tickets (fans showing up is a different story). The rink needs an update but the market is fine.

I have a hard time forgiving the players still on this team from last season for disrespecting the RJ on their sweater with terrible efforts, uninspired play, and being basic ***** that couldn't battle there way out of a Chuck-E-Cheese air hockey tournament. None of you deserve anything but critism and a full size serving of humble pie. The words "unaccountable" and "cowards" comes to mind when thinking about most the players on this team. Nothing but excuses and deflections, from the players to the FO. Figure it out you bums.

I agree Bezos and the Prez are trash humans, but the Amazon streaming app is probably the best quality streaming app out there. I'd love it if MSG was added. Btw, historically most people that own TV networks, newspapers, movie production companies, large companies, etc are trash and/or horrible people.

The Sabres need to move on from Mattias Samuelsson
SHAAAUGHT!!! replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
It's already happenning again with: Quinn = Asplund Peterka = Mittelstadt If either of these guys get any sort of multi-year high $ deal in the off season I'm going to quit this team. Anyone not named Zucker hasn't earned anything this season. For the record I like Quinn more than Asplund and Peterka more than Mittelstadt, but neither earned the bag this year -
I was considering the same thing but saw and heard some clear boos out there. That said, Im not going to pretend I could even estimate the ratio of boos-to-doogs 😁 I’ve seen plenty of games with him singing the anthem and how loud it was definitely caught me off guard. But maybe some people were also really excited to see him. He did sound great.
-
The only booing I heard all night was when Doug was singing the anthems. It was loud and happened throughout. Doug Allen is not coming back. Also, they did not show Terry and Kim, or KA, on the jumbo train during the game (at least that I noticed). It seems the production team was playing it extra safe.
-
I'm pretty sure it's just something else for everyone to talk/complain about. The only anthem singer I ever made sure I watched was Rene Rancourt from Boston. Not because of his pipes, but because he would celebrate so hard at the end it was hard not to crack a smile seeing someone enjoy the moment so much.

If we learned anything this game it is: 1) the Sabres are still terrible playing with the lead 2) UPL is a bonafide #1 goalie and we got him on a solid contract. If you consider either of those goals as a discouraging sign about his level of play right now or as an indicator of future play you’ve never had skates on or your teammates hated you. I wasn’t a big UPL believer until this season. You never have to wonder if UPL and Benson are going to show up and want to win that night. The answer is always yes and they will do every thing they can to make it happen. 3) no one should worry about contracts for these guys coming off their entry level deals because they haven’t won anything in this league, and they can’t be counted on night after night. If Peterka gets anything over $3.75M AAV for a bridge deal (or Quinn gets over $2M) let’s not even watch next season and wait for the next rebuild. 4) I’m not a fan of being negative, especially on the internet with people who’s opinions I respect and enjoy reading, so I will likely retreat back into the darkness until we see a 3 game win streak 🤣 edit: #5) you suck Necas. If you hadn’t refused to signed here in the off-season the Sabres would likely be a wild card team right now. -

Fire Lindy chant 10min into the first behind me. A lot of chuckles from the crowd. Actually quite a few Sabres fans here. I think it’s because they could sell their season ticket… -

My son got us some free tickets for tonight so I’ll be there too. In related news, the over/under on me starting a “sell the team” or “where is Terry” chant is at the 14 minute mark of the 2nd period… -
Former NHL Scout dishes on what he sees wrong with the Sabres
SHAAAUGHT!!! replied to Big Guava's topic in The Aud Club
Revenue potential in a different market greater than the existing market with a clear plan on how to unlock it over a certain period of time. Usually the current owner is doing a bad job in a bad market which necessitates the move. Buffalo has a bad owner in a great market so relocation is more of a manufactured issue used as a tactic by an owner to solicit handouts from local entities rather than a legitimate claim. Short term impact: new owners willing to pay for the relocation make everyone money by providing an infusion of liquidity into all of the owners bank accounts/organizations. Long-term: increases NHL exposure in a new market creating new short and long term consumers, making it attractive to new and old sponsors alike. -

Not sure where you are getting these numbers but this doesn't look accurate - both conceptually and numerically. First off, annual operating costs and valuation are not a 1:1 coorelation. Think about it like home ownership. These teams appreciate in value just like your home, but there are costs to maintain it. So even if you lose money annualy, your investment is increasing in value which results in a net profit. Secondly, all these teams are turning an annual operating profit (revenue - daily costs). Here are the 2023 numbers: https://www.forbes.com/lists/nhl-valuations/#:~:text=This past year%2C revenue rose,to the NHL's sponsorship growth. Buying a professional sports team is a great investment if you control your operating costs. There are different ways to do this, some better than others and each with its own risks and opportunitites, and this is where TP continually makes bad decisions that impact peformance on the ice. -
Elliotte Friedman is reporting Pegula will meet the team in Montreal
SHAAAUGHT!!! replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I wish that was the case, but success in business does not always coorelate to intelligence. See My Pillow for a clear example. -
Is it the GM? Yes. He's not capable of signing high impact players without overpaying because he doesn't think he can. Only if we had no taxes and some palm trees... Is it the Coach? Not really, but it is Ruff's fault he didn't push to bring in some of his own assistant coaches. Is it the owner? 100% doesn't know what it takes to put winning NHL team or organization together and we have 13 years of data to support this. Someone in this organization has to remove their head from TPs ass and tell him no one with the last name Pegula should have anything to do with this team besides writing checks. Is it the players? Yes. Millionaire babies that have the backbone of bean bag chair. Figure it out you bums and tear that A off of Cozens jersey. This message does not apply to Zucker, Benson, Malenstyn, or Dahlin. They've played above expectations this year. Is it the assistant coaches? Probably. Team is not prepared to play the full 60. Lack of adjustments during the game causing blown leads. This is where you need feedback from your assistants to properly manage a game. Is it goaltending? No. While shaky the first couple weeks, UPL is the real deal and a starter in this league.
