He was? I don't remember that. I am not saying you are wrong, I just don't recall him or the other guys at the News breaking many stories regarding the Sabres or Bills. The guys at the News seemed to have burned all of their bridges with both teams (except for maybe someone who has an ax to grind). Adam Schefter probably has more sources with the Sabres than these guys even though he does not even cover hockey.

In reading this thread, I am very happy that the board sees through Bucky's ######. So many of you have commented exactly the way I would have so I will not repeat them Bucky (and so many of the other guys at the News) continue to embarrass themselves.

RIP. He was is my first memory of professional hockey. For those of you who did not see him play, the guy was very talented and fun to watch. I was just a little kid when I saw him play.

I have no idea about that, but bringing Green into the team was a good move. Landon did not do himself any favors by disappearing. I also suspect that he was the one who claimed (off the record to reporters) that there was dissension in the team several months ago.

I love bringing Moulson back. He can score, but he also is a character guy. Another point most of you already know, he grew up not too far away from Buffalo and as a Bills fan. He is essentially a local guy like Gionta.

NHL BOG adopts new draft lottery for 2015 - NHLPA must okay.
Peter replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Aud Club
My two cents: This is a bull ###### move that is presumably being pushed by someone behind the scenes. Wasn't it just a few weeks ago when this died and now it has reared its ugly head again. If you are going to change the rules, you do it for a few years down the road. Teams (including the Sabres) have made decisions based on the present system. Is it a coincidence that this is happening now in advance of the 2015 draft? Obviously not. -
Why are you depressing me like that? It is the old Buffalo luck. It would have been great if we controlled the number one pick and could have done something like what you suggest the Panthers may do. Time will tell whether they trade out of the first pick and we get screwed in the process. I am not as concerned this year (as I would be next year). Given that I probably would be happy with any of the top three guys (based on what I know now), having the second pick does not really hurt us, but having the first pick would have been useful to pick up more "assets" as hockey GMs like to say.

Nolan/Murray LIVE Press Conference (4/15/14) at 1 PM EDT
Peter replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Aud Club
I had high hopes for Leino (after seeing what he did with the Flyers - especially against us). His time in Buffalo is done though. He needs to move on for both the Sabres and his own career. The only way I can see him coming back is if they need to spend money on him to get up to the floor. Even with that consideration, I am sure that the Sabres would rather spend the money on someone else to come in and help mentor these young guys. I also see they trying to sign (and spending a lot of money on) Callahan. -
To re-phrase the question, if I were Garth Snow, I would use this year's pick and add what I could to make sure that next year's pick is not subject to the lottery. If I were the owner of the Islanders, right now, I would lean toward deferring if there was any chance of getting one of the top picks.

I agree. I like Lindy and was upset that he was fired. He is a better coach than TN in my humble opinion. I really hope TN succeeds. In part, that will depend on whom he will hire as assistants. Just my two cents. As a side note, Rolston never should have fired Patrick. I have a feeling Patrick made him feel insecure about his job. Patrick would have been a better coach than Rolston - but, of course, that is not saying much.

I think that you will like them, but they are not "Buffalo style." They are great though. The pizza is great as well (thin crust).

I got a Big Green Egg last Summer. I have been meaning to make chicken wings on it, but have not yet. So far, I love the BGE. I am still trying to perfect some things through trial and error. The versatility of the egg is amazing. From ribs, to rib eyes, to everything else. I have been hit or miss with the pizzas. For some reason, I have not been able to bake these consistently well and have had trouble at times with the dough. As for the wings, there is a place in South Florida (where I live) called Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza. They make great wings. I have been tempted to ask them how they do theirs. The other thing that I have wanted to try, but have not yet, is the spatchcock turkey and chicken. I hear that comes out well. If you have any other recipes or go to BGE recipe sites (other than the BGE site itself), please share.

Soccer (Football) ~ Everything About The Beautiful Game

I am glad you had a good time. -
Your comment was my reaction as well. TN is getting the guys to play better than they did with Rolston (who had no business coaching in the NHL when he was hired). Nevertheless, let's stop pretending that Ted is Scotty Bowman. We could do worse and we can do better. If he signs an extension, I wish him all the best - yet, there should not be any guaranty in his contract that he remain as the head coach through the term of his contract. His history does not compel any such guaranty (in fact, the opposite). If he does not sign the extension, I am ok with that as well.

I have not, but I have friends who have and said it was great. They also told me that, in addition to the talent on the pitch, there is a lot of "talent" in Barcelona in general. I am sure you are going to have a great time. FYI - One of my favorite players is Cesc Fabregas who used to play for my team (Arsenal), but left a couple of years back to play for his hometown team Barcelona. -

I share your hope re FFP. I also hope something comes out of the investigation re Real and Barcelona. On the other hand, I have no confidence in FIFA. Go Gunners!!! (Today is going to be tough). -

As an Arsenal fan, this match will be difficult for me. Although I would love to see RVP and United lose, it would be better for Arsenal to see Liverpool drop points given the current state of the table. -

I do. Arsenal!!! -
Does that mean no playoffs this year? This may have something to do with it - may not want to play for Jordan Nolan's dad? http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/jordan-nolan-not-suspended-putting-rusty-klesla-stretcher-000308834--nhl.html

How do Sabres reach cap floor next year and penalty for failing to do so?
Peter replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
I like your idea re Ott and Callahan. I would add Moulson. -
Go Blues!!! It would be nice to lock up that pick without having to worry about whether Miller re-signs with them before the draft.

Now that the Battistas have taken over the Sabres, they are taking over the NFL. The Buffalo News has even reported that Battista has taken over Starbucks after Tim Murray was overheard telling Battista to get him a cup of coffee.

I get where you are coming from, but I have never understood the suggestion that there ever was a wrong in the first instance. I realize that a lot of people love TN. I did too up until whatever happened with him, Muckler, and Dom. I also think that he has done a good job after being re-hired (especially compared to Rolston who had no business coaching in the NHL). Yet, I have many questions about everything that happened between the TN, Muckler, Dom fiasco and the day TN got re-hired. In the end, I hope everything works out. Nevertheless, I do not think a wrong had been committed and do believe that TN largely has been given a pass. I know many here may disagree, but, in my view, the "wrong" that was committed vis a vis a Buffalo Sabre coach was firing Lindy - not offering a one year extension of a contract or withdrawing that contract offer to a guy who refused to return the calls of the GM. I also find it funny that some Sabres fans and media were offended when that offer was for one year so that the GM at the time could see how they got along. Yet, people were absolutely giddy when the Sabres/PLF hired TN on an "interim" basis so that whoever was subsequently hired as GM could decide whether he could work with and want TN on a permanent basis. I may have missed it, but I never read Harrington or Bucky (or others in the Buffalo media) comment that it was some sort of travesty that the Sabres/PLF hired TN as an "interim" head coach or that it was some sort of "wrong" such as the one year extension offered to TN after the TN, Dom, Muckler fiasco.
