  1. This is so true. The only NHL quality goalie we had last year actually had a winning record . . . unfortunately he now plays the Bruins.
  2. The people and media who spread the BS about threatening to move the team should be embarrassed.
  3. Linus had a winning record for the team with the worst record in the NHL. I will miss him. On the other hand, I always have disliked the Bruins, but up until now, Philadelphia has been the top team I have disliked. I may have to reevaluate which team I dislike more after T. Hall f*cked us and now Linus signing with the Bruins. Side note: Under no circumstances should we trade Eichel to the Bruins.
  4. This makes no sense to me but who knows. Nevertheless, I seriously doubt that GMKA's agenda when he was hired was to trade JE. For the past few years, I have read rumblings here and elsewhere that JE was wasting his career and presumably would like to get traded out of Buffalo. I did not believe those rumors then but I am sure other teams did hear about them and contacted the Sabres about a trade. The fact that a GM would receive those calls is not earth shattering. As we all know, GMKA did NOT trade JE then. Fast forward to the end of this season. I fully believe that JE is trying to engineer a trade and is using the supposed dispute with the Sabres re the surgery that he supposedly wants done (that NO NHL player has ever had) as an excuse. I hope that GMKA will to continue to hold out for full value for JE and if he does not get full value, JE has a choice as to what he wants to do for the next five years. It is going to be interesting to see whether JE actually has the surgery if he gets traded. We shall see.
  5. I always thought Paul is among the best Buffalo hockey reporters. It was funny to watch the others piggy back off of him during the post game interviews in the locker room and head coach post game conferences (before the pandemic).
  6. He was not the only one. Taylor Hall must think that many of the Buffalo sports media are homelesss. I was embarrassed for some of them.
  7. Indeed. Everything about the press conference reflected really well on Taylor. He clearly is very bright and thoughtful in the way he went about this and also in responding to the questions. Taylor expertly dealt with some of the negative Nancies in the media (who seemed like they were trying to look like they were being held hostage or were homeless and could not be bothered to shave etc.) who asked questions that pushed their narratives. A few questions were like - why would you ever come to Buffalo - yes, I am exaggerating but still). Taylor clearly did his homework on the team, Buffalo, the Bills, and the Pegulas. What you mentioned also impressed me. Taylor went out of his way to say Jack is the best player on the team. Taylor was the first pick in the draft and did not have to go out of his way to say that about Jack. To me, that shows that Taylor is a team first guy and he will not let whatever ego he has get in the way of that. I also think that he will fit in very well with the team, fans, and city. It also helps that his parents can drive to Buffalo to watch games if they can. I am very excited and hopeful that this is not a one year and done deal.
  8. After listening to Taylor Hall during the press conference and reading his letter and watching his video, I could not be more impressed with the guy or excited for this upcoming season.
  9. Last night on NBCSN, they showed metrics (e.g., shooting percentage etc.) that included a comparison between Quinn and Rossi and others. Does anyone have that? As I recall, Quinn's metrics were very good.
  10. Maybe I am not remembering correctly (it is late), but I thought that I read that Quinn and Rossi primarily played on different lines
  11. So what he is saying is that he did not think that the Sabres did well because they did not follow his draft board. Got it.
  12. As I posted earlier, what is there not to like about getting someone at 8 who was described as the "best goal scorer in the draft" on the NBCSN broadcast of the draft?!? If the kid (and they are all kids) did not have a chip on his shoulder before, he certainly would now if he were to read this thread. The more I think about it, Quinn reminds me of the City of Buffalo. He is an underdog who was cut by his AAA team. He had to work hard to get where he is and ultimately, through hard work and perseverance, became the "best goal scorer in the draft," improved his skating, and is a good two way player. It is so hard to predict just how good guys that young ultimately will be, but I think that a guy with a back story like that will be easy to root for and has a good chance of being a very productive NHL player. Quinn is a guy who got rejected, was not appreciated, was a late bloomer, and worked hard to get where he is today. Sound familiar??? Ryhmes with Bosh Fallon (as others have mentioned).
  13. I have never seen the kid play until watching the highlights today . . . but what is there not to like about "the best goal scorer in the draft" comment on NBCSN. We should give the kid a break and see what he can do.
  14. You have captured Sully in one sentence. I could not have said it better.
  15. Stade Pierre-Mauroy mentioned above seems like an intriguing building and could be an inspiration to design and build something that would maximize the use of any new facility. Stade Pierre-Mauroy (Wiki) Stade Pierre-Mauroy (collection of photos)
  16. Great article. Thanks for sharing. I love Mat's attitude. It also sound like he is great at what he does.
  17. If we are going to be judged as adults by the stupid things that we may have said or did as kids, we are all in trouble.
  18. This was my thought as well. I initially thought it was "Dickon" but when I watched the scene again I noticed that Bronn also was looking at the white horse. When I slooooooooooowed down the recording while watching the critical moment, you could see that the other person was on a white horse and was not wearing armor. My money is on Bronn.
  19. How bad can the pick be given Central Scouting had him rated number 3? You never know with these kids, but picking a young kid with his skill where we did seems like pretty good value. He has the skill and will only get stronger.
  20. I don't post over here a lot, but my issue with GMTM is that, when we had a lot of "assets," he overpaid (in my judgment). For example, I still do not understand giving Ottawa a first for what was their back up goalie when they were in a complete bind under the salary cap. If we were going to trade that first round pick, I would have preferred trading it (rather than Zadorov) in the ROR deal. I am pretty confident that we could have had Lehner for a second - especially given that we took on salary. We ended up doing Uncle Brian a huge favor. Now that we have given up a lot of the extra assets that we had, GMTM will be forced not to be the drunken sailor. It will be interesting to see how he does without being flush with picks etc.
  21. Both posts above are about where I am on this. We even had bad luck when we were (intentionally) bad.
  22. I like Tim, but still think that he has overpaid in certain trades (whether you like the players we got in return or not). Of course, with fewer assets (picks) than before, we will see what he can do after presumably earning a reputation around the league for his willingness to overpay for guys he is fixated on. Just my two cents.
  23. Let's not compare what Darren Sharper did to his victims to EK. If there were a comparison, EK would have and should have been indicted for the December incident.
