  1. Maybe in these 1 goal deficits play 5 on 5 right to the end. these guys don’t have success doing the 6 on 5 thing and it’s just a gift goal for the opponents all the time.
  2. How many years is the playoff drought? that’s exactly how many losses they will rack up in a row. Some type of symbolism from the hockey gods.
  3. I wrote this on a different thread but it belongs here. Any other franchise would’ve fired the coach by now. It’s like benching the goalie when you’re down 4-0 in the first. It may not be entirely the goalies fault, but you pull him anyway in the hopes of changing momentum. That’s what the Sabres need to do with coach.
  4. I didn’t love the Lindy re-hire but was definitely ready to give him a chance. It feels over though. He’s clearly not doing a good job getting these under-achievers prepared to play and he’s not making the right in game strategic changes. Maybe the guys are just tuning him out by now. I don’t know. Feels like the team should make a coaching change. it’s not working.
  5. back when i was in my teen years mid-70’s to mid-80’s the Sabres were #1 in this town. They were everything. The Bills were great fun too but the NFL wasn’t the industry worth billions back then. The NHL fanbase has eroded with years and years of losing. Feels like there’s no way out. But i would think at some point soon Terry explores selling the team to someone who will keep it here.
  6. Starting to miss the good ol days of Donnie meatballs.
  7. I blame the players mostly, but if Ruff cannot stop the streak and at least play .500 hockey, I'm going to point to him and his coaching style here as not meshing. There is individual talent on the team that would probably do well in other cities. It's Ruff's job to get them to play as a team and employ a style that works.
  8. Apparently things are terrible for the Rangers lately.. oh, except for one game in Buffalo.
  9. Those words set a curse in motion. There’s no other explanation for what’s happened to this organization.
  10. The players can’t possibly be frustrated with the fans. I mean which NHL fanbase would put up with this long of year after year futility? it’s astounding. Boston boos their team after 2 losses. Try 14 years! lol
  11. Yeah i would if i were him. He didn’t sign up for this. He came back to get them over the final hump, and they are completely going the other way.
  12. I saw Buffalo trending on X and it’s not the Bills. The guns are pointed their way.
  13. I think Lindy will be one and done. He didn’t come back to oversee some long rebuild. He came here to push a playoff ready team over the mountain top in year 1. and they failed miserably. So i can’t see him wanting to stick around.
  14. and i said the exact same thing the other night lol
  15. we were getting pressure 5v5 wish they wait longer to pull the goalie
  16. Tuch used to do that "whooo!" thing after wins. That's been muted of course. Just slowly sapping the love of the game from Tuch. He loved it here but even he has no answers or solutions.
  17. Unfortunately, the guys they've drafted and developed just aren't that good. The organization overestimated how good they would be by now. There's a few obviously like UPL that have gotten better but some others, nope. Also, as we all know Buffalo would be on everyone's no trade clause list so it's not an easy fix. At this point, in the short term I might work in some of the hungry Rochester guys. Maybe they won't be panic stricken in 3rd periods like the current group. For the long term after the season, that's going to be a major project. Maybe they can do some trades by then.
  18. I don’t like pulling the goalie that early. they’re getting pressure 5 on 5 and then you give them a free gift goal. I thought they could’ve scored at even or pulled the goalie with 35 seconds or whatever. that’s just me.
  19. As a player for an opposing team I would never allow myself to be traded to the Sabres. It’s like a toxic wasteland for careers. The GM Adams has his work cut out for him, if he survives the skid.
  20. Getting out hit pretty badly. Can the Sabres get physical at all?
  21. I’ve said for many years that Buffalo teams exist for the sole purpose of providing happiness to opposing fan bases. But that’s really exclusively for the Sabres in recent years.
  22. In these meltdowns, Do they even try to score in the 3rd period? or do they just allow the opponent to dictate everything and turtle in the fetal position waiting for the inevitable collapse? it’s such a mentally weak team. Just embarrassing for a tough gritty city. I’ve harped on the home losses for years and they just can’t solve it. No one fears coming to our arena.
  23. It’s just a never ending vicious circle down at the arena. I have no issue with the fans booing. They would boo in every other NHL arena if their teams missed the playoffs a couple years in a row and couldn’t win home games, let alone 13 years or whatever. But the booing and empty seats leads to resentment amongst the players because they feel they are trying hard and not trying to play poorly. So they hear it, play messy at home, not having fun, etc.. they get tight or nervous when the momentum starts to flip, and lose their fundamentals for whatever reason. The fans expect things to go bad, the players expect things to go bad. and everyone goes home a loser.
  24. The thing is, Buffalo being situated on the Canadian border and near the massive population of the Golden Horshoe region, has always made it popular w NHL’ers. Many, made WNY home even after their playing careers. Hockey players are not scared to live and raise a family in cold climates. Well, that is until Pegula became owner and made this franchise into the joke of the league.
  25. There’s no positives regarding the Sabres. It’s hockey hell for the fans and players….and if I got drafted by the Sabres i’d fear my career will never live up to the potential. But since the thread says positively i will say that Pegula has done a good job with the Bills and Bandits. Er, i should say at least he hired the right people and got out of the way.
