Shouldn't the Sabres have the deepest roster depth out there in the minor leagues? What/who have they been drafting in the top10 over the past 14 seasons or whatever. Our minor league system should be overflowing with talent. I don't even know what to say. Florida has probably been trading their prospects for established NHL'ers for a few years now.

I mean this season is over already. in record time. The rest of the games are for entertainment purposes only (if you can call it that), or to go watch the opponent. It's really just to see what their draft position will be in 2026. It's not funny, I'm sad what this franchise has become. I was there in the 70's, 80's, 90's and saw the good times too.

I felt kinda bad seeing Bettman like that, shaking. It reminded me of my father-in-law...who suffered from Parkinson's for several years before he passed away back in January. Anyway, Bettman understood fully what was being asked but what's he gonna say publicly, yeah Terry sucks as an NHL owner?!? I'm sure he's disappointed as we all are.

Don't worry! After all the guys get back, the Sabres will go on a nice run in Feb-March to finish with 75 pts.

The Sabres best chance to hang in there and keep the fans interested, was to come out this season hot, score some PP goals, get reasonable goaltending and maybe be above .500 after 10 games. It's disappointing again.

Crazy to wait all spring and summer for the new season. Hearing about how opening at home is so much better than going to Germany, traveling, etc.. Then they don't even score a goal in game 1 and one of the better forwards is already injured? This season could not have gotten off to a worse start. Just awful.

Seems like they lose the home opener every year and mostly in regulation.

Exactly why i feared playing a team who is 0-1 and shutout while we haven’t played yet. They are super hungry. We are trying to get into the season

Hope i’m wrong but i don’t like playing a team that already played 1 game and lost, and got shutout. The Rags will be fired up to make amends…. and prob score within the first three minutes tonight and the Sabres will be chasing the game.

I’m totally cool with KA taking a swing on a random unproven goalie from someone else’s organization. It’s a smart move. The reward potential far outweighs the risk here. This team should do it every season or draft one goalie every year. They are bound to luck out at some point.

As i say before every season for the last 12 years or whatever. There’s no team in the NHL that should be more desperate and hard working than the Sabres, every game. If i hear after game 1 that they were “out worked” then the entire staff should be fired immediately. That should not happen in any game.

They shoulda found a trade partner for him. Time to move on and give some other guys the keys.

Is UPL still on the team? I see the other goalies have played in these first two games. and played well.

It’s just crazy to me that the Sabres aren’t the most desperate team on the ice in every game. There’s plenty of games where they just look like they are going through the motions. The home wins in the back of half of the season are encouraging. They have to be solid at home before they can move on and make the playoffs eventually.

Being in the DC area i’m totally envious of the Caps situation. Year after year they are in the playoffs and the local fans/media are totally into it. It never gets old for these folks.

They came back from Europe with two regulation losses vs NJ in their luggage. Never recovered from that quite honestly. Two games in and it felt like the season was over.

This team every season gets pummeled with regulation losses by Christmas time. They just can't hold those 1 goal third period leads and at least get the games to OT.

Agree with this 100%. I think UPL could still bring back some trade value in return. He's a guy some other teams may want and realize a change of scenery could do him well. Keep Reimer, sign another vet G as insurance, hope and pray Levi turns out to be the guy at the NHL level.

UPL is an NHL goaltender. He's just a very mediocre to below average one,... and gives up too many goals on clean shots or where he's out of position.

Reimer will be a hot goalie signing for someone, we will be stuck with UPL. Who will never lead this team to the playoffs.

The winning is nice. Some people think there’s a carryover in NHL hockey from one year to the next. There’s not. There’s no momentum gained if winning and no momentum lost if losing a lot. Im pretty sure the Canadians and Sens finished last and second last in the Atlantic division last season. they both sucked and finished behind Buffalo. Now they are playoff teams. The Sabres seem to make this overly complicated.

I'm clinging to the fact that they finally figured out how to protect home ice going forward. Seeing them play well in the last third of the season while our peer teams are crumbling gives me a little hope. When it comes to signing free agents, the finish to the season may show other NHL players hesitant to sign with Buffalo that this club can make a big leap with the right D-men and goalie.
