Seems like a lot of opponents “get right” vs Buffalo after a poor effort in their previous games. Meanwhile the Sabres should be the most desperate team every game based on years of ineptitude. But anyway, hopefully it’s a good game for the boys. The Leafs let in so many soft goals the other night it’s going to take more effort and hard work today.

It’s like the players had a pregame meeting and decided, Let’s get Don fired tonight. And they executed to perfection.

I like Donny. He’s a good hockey man from a solid family. too bad this team laid him out to be axed like this. But it has to happen.

Over the past how many years, there can’t be a more miserable NHL franchise. I don’t think there even is a 2nd place. No franchise is close to the misery Buffalo fans have endured since Terry bought the team. I’m at a loss for words.

Pegula got very lucky Mcdermott and Beane worked out the way they have. But i give Pegs full credit for interviewing and hiring them. He needs to sell the Sabres. They have been nothing but crap since he’s owned them. absolute garbage. and the arena needs upkeep repairs asap

Assuming they start UPL for Arizona. I’m gonna give the big guy the benefit of the doubt that he was a bit sluggish coming off his 10 day illness. He should be better as a backup to Levi. For now Levi is the man though.

They all see the guys that left Buffalo exceling on other teams and having playoff success.

I respect Donnie. Good man. But you see other clubs change coaches in-season and play better. That needs to happen here. Either that or the talent level on the Sabres is far beneath their opponents. I don't think it is, but maybe. They looked like a weak AHL team vs an NHL team last night.

Like most people I was a huge fan for 3 decades through the early 2010's. But they sucked the hockey joy out of me. I still care about the team but I live out of town so I am just a casual observer now and don't go to the games. For example, last night when it became 2-0 and they were getting totally dominated I shut it off. Didn't know the final until I woke up this morning. It's like whatever, rinse and repeat.

Levi gives up one goal against one of, or maybe the best team in hockey. He clearly has the skills and pedigree of being a great goalie. Just needs to be confident and consistent. I mean even guys like Vasilevskiy give up 4-5 goals on occasion. They are lucky enough sometimes to have their team score 5-6 in those games. Ville Husso gave up 6 last night. Buffalo has lost the ability this season to win shootouts, in part because their PP sucks.

If UPL has an illness that kept him away for the last 2 games, would he even be ready on Saturday? i say ya gotta go with Levi.

So how much will it cost Pegula to eat their contracts and get rid of McDermott and Granato?

I recall watching an interview with Alex Tuch just before training camp. He said it was definitely a playoff season, and that it was time. So he must think they have the pieces in the room. I guess he hasn't been in the organization long enough to have the joy of hockey ripped from his soul.

I like making trades for anonymous NHL names with one of the 3 or so teams the same or worse than Buffalo.

The goaltending and defense are pretty much the same as last year...UPL looks a bit better thus far. The huge regression is scoring. The goals came easily last season and it's pretty clear, several guys had career seasons in the same year. The GM, players, coaches and fans all kind of expected similar results on offense and that's where everyone whiffed badly.

We've seen good individual players leave Buffalo recently,,,, (Reinhart, O'Reilly, Eichel, Ullmark, Rodrigues etc...) and excel at other places and help lead those teams to high point totals and playoff runs.. Even someone who was not liked here like Bogosian got major minutes on good playoff teams. Bottom line, the common denominator is Terry Pegula. This particular owner has created such a culture of losing from the top on down, that even good hockey people cannot get out from under it. I've been saying it for 2+ years now on Twitter and other social media. Sell the team Terry. You will still get a large return on your investment and won't have to deal with the arena upgrades. SELL THE TEAM. Even by accident, another owner would do better...like past owners here.
