Goalie is it. Anything else is gravy. I think his statements to various media outlets are cover.
-
It's not the first time we've seen this nonsense. Basically, to him, if you're a Canadian player of a certain age, you were involved.
-
Well, Granato turned Jost around (see, @LGR4GM, I do give him credit where due), and 1.8 isn't a big risk. Could be a stopgap for Quinn.
-
Is he a "needs a change of scenery" guy or is he just bad?
-
?? Darcy was masterful at trades. He had his problems, but trading? He was brilliant.
-
Oh I don't want him at all. I just think it's funny that he was "untouchable" a year ago and now they have to shop him. I also think Briere is out of his mind if he wants two 1sts for Hart.
-
Joe D on WGR this morning said that Briere wants 2 first-round picks for Carter Hart. (And mods can we pin this thread?)

Yeah that's Nic Savoie. -
They wouldn't have to, but they'd be wise to, because they're not likely to do well with the Murray/Woll tandem backstopping a defense corps led by a guy who can't spell his own last name properly anyway, but they'll do what they do. I don't see them trading Matthews.
-
Leaves are at -8M. How are they going to get around that? Marner for a pick?
-
I think you're a little late here. And he didn't cost Toronto anywhere near $5M.

I may give it a shot tomorrow. -
BPO in the park in a few weeks, I think.
-
The Sabres don't need Tarasenko. They have the goal-scorers. A two-way forward would be nice; a goalie is more important.

So I tried to go today. The number of cars VERY slowly circling Harborcenter about 15 minutes beforehand told me that the place was already full. So I didn't bother parking 5 blocks away just to be turned around at the door. But I'm betting it was pretty full. -
Reread what you wrote. If the Sabres don't spend, it's going into Terry's private jet (which doesn't exist). And you're praising foolish spending by Yzerman. So, using a simple formula, 1 + 1 = 2.

I'd love it if Winnipeg would make this trade.
-
I do hope you're right. (I also sometimes wonder how we can see holes in VO's game but we also think actual NHL GMs are going to pick him up at $4.75M.)
-
Let's say they sign a G for $4M. They then trade UPL (837K) out for some mid-level pick. That's still 3.2M off of the 5.8. I'm not saying that they *can't* make a move, but they'd better be judicious about it. If they can get some team to take Bryson for futures, that would help a lot. Point is, I wouldn't get my hopes up about Bertuzzi, nor would I assume that if they don't spend right up to the cap by Sept. 1, that the surplus is going into Terry's private jet, as @PerreaultForeversuggested. They need to have some dry powder for the deadline or in case of a injury. (A cheaper player like Power going on LTIR isn't replaceable at a similar cost.)
-
There's not a lot of room left. Cap is down to 5.8M and they still need that goalie. And they're going to want some cap room for the trade deadline.
-
Yeah, and from what I'm seeing, Detroit fans aren't thrilled.
-
By your logic, it's a great move if the Sabres don't get Pesce or Hellebyuck but instead blow $5M on Gibson or $7M on Toews. It doesn't matter if money is spent wisely, as long as it's spent, it seems. Some of Yzerman's moves yesterday were just plain stupid unless he's just trying to get to the cap floor (which isn't the case).

Apparently there are 4 x 6.25 million reasons.
