  1. 25% of our first period goals have been scored in the past 2 games. And this is game 43.
  2. Great period by Jack. There's an elite group of scorers in the NBA that can wake up in the morning and decide "I'm getting 40 today". I think Jack, in time, will be one of those rare players who can wake up in the morning and simply decide to score a goal.
  3. I understand that losing this game is good, but this is also an utter lack of concentration and heart.
  4. Well, yeah, why waste having the puck on times that you aren't gonna score?
  5. It would be pretty fun to see a nearly empty arena. Who could forget the Polar Vortex game? Let them play!
  6. How far do you have to go back to find a less offensively skilled veteran line than Scott-Konopka-Ellis? They've combined for 31 goals in 805 games played. That's how many Ovechkin has in 40 games this year.
  7. So if you admit the players wouldn't lose on purpose, what more should the franchise have done? They jettisoned a few players and the remaining guys played hard.
  8. Hecht finished +100 for his career. For a guy who barely cracked 20 goals in his prime, think what that says about his ability as a defensive player. Happy to see him play as a Sabre for so long.
  9. Yes, we'd be 6 points down with 3 games left and mathematically removed from winning the tiebreaker.
  10. A win would do more for Winnipeg than Buffalo, frankly. Part of me wants the Sabres to lose and just end the season, though I never root that way once the game's on.
  11. Ehrhoff is +11 on a team that's -17 overall. I ain't no expert, but you don't luck into that sort of differential over an entire season.
  12. Same here. I was at Game 6 in 2011 when the Sabres should've closed out the Flyers. It's a bad memory because they choked, but I wouldn't trade that experience for a more promising draft. Screw long term gains...I could get hit by a meteorite tomorrow.
  13. On a logical level I'm with you 100%. But the sort of season that a team needs to have to get that probability in its favor would be draining. I don't wanna know what it's like to root for the Panthers or Oilers. They have the sort of dismal seasons that we only pretend to empathize with.
  14. You're right. But as a sports fan, the basic notion of wins and losses is so well-ingrained that the OTL never feels like half a win (or 47% of a win or what have you).
  15. Sabres are 13-9-5 since Rolston's promotion. I've always been on record that it's just a stupid way of being 13-14, but even so I'd say they're dramatically more competitive than under Ruff. Wouldn't mind seeing the guy get a chance next year.
  16. If NYR somehow manages a loss to the Panthers tomorrow, suddenly things are more than just interesting.
  17. 5 wins in last 7 games. Need to win the last 5 games and still get help on top of it. I'm definitely not holding my breath. Nice to see the kids showing so much compete, though.
  18. I attribute a lot of the negative attitude in the arena to the sheer magnitude of 2-goal leads that the team surrenders. When leading feels more hopeless than trailing, how rowdy can you get?
  19. Sabres still need 14 points over the next 9 games to accomplish 52. Yikes.
  20. This is a club that had stated Stanley Cup aspirations and they currently hover just above a .400 winning % due to a 3-game streak. Any home crowd would suck given those circumstances.
  21. Right, but if you're a fan of a highly successful team who just happens to be having trouble clearing the puck, the response probably isn't jeering. At worst, it's bemusement. If you're a fan of a team that has a systemic problem clearing the puck because of how it's built, you boo.
