True, but you had to know with an agent Dad former pain in the back side, that Lemieux had potential to be a problem and the Sabres couldn't afford to miss on him with all their needs. If none of the others they drafted come through, I would say Murray's first attempt is a failure... not a good sign. ???What do you think is an appropriate development time from after the draft to playing in the NHL a 2nd rounder should be given? 2, 3 or 4 years? I say no more than 4. But 2 years should give you a very good indication for a forward, 3 years said forward should be competing for a position. D is another story, they can take longer but not much. The clock is ticking for Murray on the guys he drafted last year, so far nothing no indication.

Really, isn't that the job of a GM... heck the NFL has so many psychologists evaluating these guys and their lives, they have a sense if they can make it happen and what will work. TPegs needs to make sure Murray does the same...

But why do I get the sense that since Lemieux wouldn't sign entry level Murray shipped him out at first chance. If Murray thought he might be a problem before the draft in that regard then why draft him... if he didn't think it would be a problem then that is on him and scouts for not doing their due dilligence and I again question his drafting ability. Granted this is his first time doing things, but unless he brings in an experienced coach that he can work with and not a yes man...ball @#$%$er, then I think TPegs should let him go. Sabres need to find guys in this draft past the first pick. Shipping off a 1st and Armia and Lemieux for Kane who has issues himself without a coach that can handle that scenario as well as Murray is a tall order and brings into question is Murray a train wreck. The next coach will give a big indication and if he screws this up, TPegs needs to fire him on the spot.

When TM crashes and burns for picking a coach that can licks his cahoonas but not coach and Gorges turns on this guy too Nolan will be back, or he fires one for disagreeing with him because the guy can actually coach and TM doesn't know what he is doing, LaFontaine and Nolan will be back.

Bull hockey, but that part I don't mind and the fact that TN he doesn't think is the right guy for the job is ok too, but why hold on to him for a year... You and other TM true believers can't have it both ways... I think he wasn't ready to deal the TN year 1, didn't have the balls to face the fans quite yet and instead of saying TN wasn't his guy, he tried to lay blame on TN despite ripping the team apart and giving TN players that couldn't find a net if you gave them both and N and T. Not saying he didn't make some good moves too, luv Bogo, hated Staphyl, was sad to see Myers go... Very concerned about Kane, somehow that will be a cluster. None of TMs later pics last year seem to be panning out... Lemieux was a cluster that forced a trade... should have known that going in. Very mixed bag so far for such a control freak... He needs to do a lot better in this draft with more than just the top pick which is a gimme and really needs two of last year's pics to come through. At least Darcy could draft D.... Can Murray draft centers and forwards and can the Sabres develop some? These second rounders need to be worth something talent wise and so far its looking very iffy.

Disagree, Murray hasn't shown enough both as a manager and a judge of talent to justify your claims. In fact his handling of Nolan gives me great pause. Kane is a big risk, will any of last year's picks come thru... So far who knows... If he doesn't hit a homerun with this coach....plans be damned, anyone can have a plan... execute it in a vacuum and watch it fail.

Ennis imo needs to be on wing imo bump Girgenson up to the first line to start till Reinhart or McEichel prove themselves ready. Drop frolik down one and dump Hogson, maybe even put Larson up at 1st line to start season. Bet OReilly isnt here next year... Just dont think he fits the system and too expensive for his actual worth. Also Batiste is gonna push guys like Kaleta and Gionta. stewart resigns in Minni.

I agree Nolan had problems coaching developing players so letting him go is not a surprise, but it will interesting to see the alternative. Bringing in an unproven coach that is a Murray yes man should get Murray fired on the spot.

pulease... Not even passing the shart test. Being straight forward can often be confused with icehole... A good GM knows how to be firm without being perceived as one... That being said the proof will come moving forward, but Murray has some growing up do himself... Again this is Buffalo, not Philly or NJ.

Really! I want the Sabres to be a standup organization and win the cup... This isn't Boston to quote Sam Wyche... this is Buffalo... I don't think Murray ever gave him a shot or there would have been more communication... it was a PR stunt to have someone to blame for winning the Shart. Nolan can be criticized for young player development, but I think even there he was making strides.... mind you not one of his strengths. But you can't tell me Murray didn't expect this from the beginning. I am really concerned that we have an fargin icehole running this team that may or may not have the talent to recruit players and retain a good coach. And as been said TN was set up to fail, the fact that TM barely spoke with Nolan is the clearest indication of not having a working relationship. TM must do better with next coach especially one of his choosing or the next one is on him. If this is an indication of TM style TPegs needs to abandon ship now. TM needs to be a good eval of talent and be able to communicate that with coach.
