You assume a lot, not scum -- gulf war vet with issues, went off deep end. Sad for him, the police and questions raised by the protest. So yes using explosives is definitely a new potentially dangerous precedent that needs debate and consideration. Killing a dangerous, but mentally ill person is a whole nother issue. Using a bomb to do it... due process v imminent danger all things to consider, not to criticize but evaluate and decide what level a civilized society is willing to tolerate. BTW, local police that i know imo are often myopic in their opinions-- good guys but not open minded, maybe as they should be most of the time. Still issue is not only for them to decide.
