  1. I get most of them too, '64. However, I worked in the field for 21 years and tend to attack even when listening, when in campaign mode. Kinda like a hockey game, the other team is the enemy till game is over then with few exceptions all is forgiven afterwards.
  2. Agreed the speed is a different animal and definetly a different challenge.
  3. The speed yes but the vitriol no, not even close. When animations start showing up in mainstream media of Trump having sex with Putin or Hillary doing another woman that would start approaching bygone nastiness... Emphasis on mainstream media.
  4. Agreed, need to read up on yellow journalism during the previous turn of the century post reconstruction era. It makes this shiite look tame by comparison.
  5. Interesting will check it out. The why on partisanship is two fold, minor changes in the electorate can have a huge effect on election results. Right now both parties are competitive enough to make these election winds have significant impacts. The implication of the communication age speeds up the velocity of these changes and probably add 2-5% amplitude of the winds.
  6. I disagree with that quote, yea its bad but it has been worse. 1920s and 1930s the age of muck raking was much worse.
  7. Ironically untilVietnam used to be just the opposite. Obama has been a little of both imo.
  8. Scored a goal and an assist tonight, first goal of the season... felt good. Almost had another.
  9. Psycho Trump Q'est que c'est, Fa fa fa... fa fa
  10. Saw Cheap Trick, Heart and Joan Jett at Jones Beach last week, seeing Don Henly next week and Farm Aide in Manassas this September
  11. As I stated earlier in the year, Psycho Trump... Q'est que c'est.... Fa fa fa... fa fa
  12. So maybe Buflyn had a reason not to like Kane... hmmm. Prob is TPegs' Penn State is just now recovering from the Sandusky/Paterno fiasco. Do you think he needs another situation within shouting distance of that?
  13. Working a double tonight into tomorrow, then hockey followed by one more shift till real sleep.
  14. On the topic of privitized health insurance, the problem still becomes a cost v cherry picking of low risk insurees by the insurance cos. To solve this problem when I was leg liaison in the federal crop insurance program, we established 3 risk pools based on acturial tables that could allow for a sliding scale subsidy based on income, but had tthe federal government be the reinsurer. The insurer had to accept loses from each risk pool - 25% of the high risk pool, 50% of the middle and 75% of the low risk pool and were able to collect premiums inversly corresponding to above. The insurance companies administered the program and the feds audited it and accepted most of the losses of the high risk pools etc. The only requirement was that all farmers wanting government payouts from usda had to participate and prove they had insurance and the companies had to use accepted acturial tables. This preserved free market principals while amiliorating some of the risk. Wish this couldve been done with health insurance...
  15. Nice headed to lake in August, can't wait.
  16. PS I hope your Dad gets well... my thoughts and prayers. There are advocates that help your family deal with the system.
  17. The private one would probably cut you out sooner because you make too much to qualify for pro bono charity... Sigh yup gonna be interesting to see when I am 72.
  18. Doesn't surprise me. I knew a lot of longtime democratic and republican activists and Hill staffers that became lobbyists to pay their bills. The underbelly of politics and political access :( Many work for organizations who support party ideology, though some do not and it still gives them access.
  19. They were all going up and getting cut. Ins cos were cherry picking, initially some cost went but they finally stabilized. Long term this is a good thing. Only way to leverage ins cos imo. short of nationalizing them and federally regulating them.
  20. Yeh part of the muffy and Dave tennis design crowd.... hate them too.
  21. If I can get up there and get tickets will check in.
  22. Can't wait, let the fun begin .
  23. With the exception of Bengazi, which I think was largely a made up criticism of Clinton because it happened on her watch and her words were twisted to fit Republican tin foil hat crowd ok i can agree. Bengazi is a bunch of BS by GOP
  24. True and Gingrich et al taught Clinton ironically. But they need to be more than talking points which at times you seem to get caught up in. I do ad hominem attacks often so there is that.
  25. The Bridge is cool do it, the NY metro museum is a couple of blocks past the mall and CT Houses. Borrow Hall was my Great Grand Father's Court House. Old NY Supreme Ct.
