Beserkely CA made it in 2.5 days! Stuck only 1/2 an hour on Donner pass because idiot escalade slide off road, easy afterwards.

Left NYC last nite at 9pm, currently near Iowa City headed for Berkely CA. Wife and I sleeping and driving. Kids watching vids.

Hmm learned a lot in the last couple of days. Guess I think the politics thread is a lot tamer than most so while it may affect some i have hard time understanding it. I agree having both the Sabres and Bills losing for the length of time they have has worn on me too. I walked away from TBD a while ago because of the mismanagement of the team not the site. The rah rah one Buffalo is also irritating as a PR scam over an inferior product. I go there lurking for info on the Bills but only occasionally watch the team. Sabres I would have a hard time giving up on this site. The political discussion aside. I frankly enjoyed that part here, more intellectual discussion until the silly season took over. While I have been frustrated with lacknof clarity until recently of the mods intentions. Now that I understand better their views on the tone of things and cooling off and reevaluating period is understandable even if I think things could have been handled differently by SDS's designees. Upshot begrudgingly I am ok with whatever is decided.

I have had on ongoing pming conversation with nfreeman over this exact issue. Have to agree with Dark... if the explanation ahead of time was more transparent and a little more info on the decision msking process instead of pulling teeth from the other mods the agnst would not have been as bad. That being said this election has been unusually contentious and a few warnings over locking the discussion might have served everyone well. SDS, I understand better than some your time constraints, however a designee allowed to answer questions and elicit more of the members thoughts on the issue of the discussion and proper parameters would have gone a long way imo. The discussion got stupid at the end because of the elections intensity but once discussions return to issue oriented and process oriented info i think the angst will settle down. It does depend on how polarizing this admin intends to be... which will require ettic rules on this board to be enforced.., deleting inappropriate posts if need be. Again current events, process questions and policy choices are useful to members of this board imo. Name calling is not.

Ditto, sorry I missed it. Civility yes and openess is essential. Sorry I could not participate because of my schedule. Actually have more time between cases then when at home. I am mixed on the political thing here not because of the lack of civility though I think civilty is better for the board and some parameter of decorum should be followed. Hard in this climate when even our leader dont follow such practices. And as a hockey player, my first instinct is to verbally kick the crap outta the other side when i feel they have crossed that line of eticate. So to me while i enjoy the rough and tumble. Some ground rules need to be established to preserve the board.

Guys are just not practicing it enough. Make them both do it till theyre sicknof it "Herb Brooks style"

Until either or both goaltenders can do better in shoutouts.... Sabres are going to have to work harder to end it in OT... which is why secondary scoring needs to improve... or not as there is one possibility... a slow tank and the shoutout deal is to ensure that the Sabres in fact do tank... Just saying... I put my tinfoil hat on tonight... and am sitting in a lead lined room.

A local kid who scored winning or tying goal for michigan state frozen 4 and assisted on the other. Sabres drafted, played ok but tried to leverage too much and was let go. Good kid, but borderline NHLer especially because of small size.

I think he makes a very good play making winger and high end secondary scorer with Jack. Still learning physical side and jack needs a scoring winger on the other side a la Nylander or Pu or high end draft pick.

Been watching him lately and he is finally starting to hit and play better in the corners. A work in progress but he is being more physical. Once he gets that down and finds a way to encorporate it into his passing game, I think hell be fine. I think he just needs to work thru it. Its coming be patient.

4.5 thoughts about game: -Sabres not great on back to backs in 1 st period but get better seems to be a theme. -Carolina ice sucked, especially evident during shootout. Carolina fire pucks unprepared Sabres fumble finess moves. -Apparently Carolina doesnt freeze pucks before use, holy bouncing rubber batman. -Glad they picked up a point, but god Gorges cant outlet pass... send him down and get Falk and Fedun in. Franson ok but needs someone along side who doesnt just give the puck away.
