So there in is the Rub and to me its all about fit. A guy who adjust systems to fit players, play better D but dont eliminate up tempo style using Sabres speed and the speed is coming with Dahlin, Montour, Borgen, Pilut and even Risto. McCabe isnt slow either was thinking this isnt a bad top six if coached properly... on offense with Mitts showing signs of life and Asplund coming along in A, a top draft pick heck all Sabres need is Laaksonen and Samuelson to take big steps forward next year so Sabres can have plenty of cough Risto trade bait. If no Risto... need Bogo replacement... he wore down toward end of year. So who is it... I am not confident in any of the names mentioned... Taylor maybe but I like him in the A...

Born in San Fran but moved to Buffalo when I was 3 as Dad joined UB English Department; folks rented a flat on Delevan before buying a house on Summitt two blocks from the zoo near St Marks. Went to school #54, got kicked out in kindergarten for hitting a kid who stole my Bills sweater and took it back. Parents help start Central Community School for two years then went to School #64 till 6th grade, then to Calasanctius till 9th when we moved to Eggertsville and joined Amherst High. Graduated and went to Geneseo for year and a half and transferred to GW. Folks retired left in 2005 for San Diego. Have my old next door neighbor who spent a lot of time taking care of us 3 boys growing up, treat him like my older brother still living in North Tonowanda... my only connection still living there.

Who ever fits the bill of being able to develop a young team. Show some fire and adjust to team capability with situational awareness. Not sure who is best fit though???

Just thinking about moving parts and who is drafted depending lottery spot, would want as much time pre-draft input with new coach.

I tend to agree but the only way he stays is if he can learn from his mistakes and work on getting guys to be consistent, one way is to keep lines together and keep developing young players.

Phil's biggest problem was constant line juggling and his second was being wed to St Louis players in trade. TT needed Chris Taylor's fixing stuff. The lack of line consistency doomed Mitts and contributed to winter swoon. That being said Mitts continued to develop imo and should be much improved next season. Goaltending needs to be better. Especially in up tempo game. Botts adding Montour's and Borgen's emergence is great. If Sabres can add a center plus draft a big winger/center should be on their way. I am hopeful Aspund and UPL end up with big club next end of year and Laaksonen and Samuelson play some with Rochester. Still unsure about Risto, but I think a backend of McCabe, Montour, Dahlin, Borgen, Pilut, and either Risto, Bogo (one should not be here next year) with Nelson as a 7 is decent. Scandella needs to go... Hunwick as 8th. Risto as others have said is highest value for a trade for 2nd line center. Problem is Housley game time line decisions and inconsistent line juggling. CJ Smith should be up on checking 3rd line or 4th. Looking forward to seeing draft class and Pekar's development.

Binnington emergence is reason Blues are winning. PS watch Rangers go far next year because of Georgiev (sp). Sabres need to develop one.

Talked to a guy last night, our beer league goalie from Jamestown, NY big Nate.. he does think Phil needs to go but wants to keep Chris Taylor with Amerks because of his ability to develop guys. AHL imo if coaching is good allows guys to fix things or strengthen weak spots without NHL speed and pressure. I wonder how fast UPL develops.

Close friend of mine Dan Green died last night due likely to a clot 5 days post up from hip surgery. Died in his sleep. Guy had the ability to make you laugh and cry all in the same sentence.
