    Talked to a guy down here in Westchester today at a grocery store who saw my Sabres t shirt and we got talking hockey. Turns out he is from western ny and has had some contact with the Pegulas. He said two things interesting. One, they view Mitts as a 3C and were surprised and happy that Cozens dropped to them and they view him as the future 2c. Also, otherwise the pic would have been Zegras, though they felt Zegras wasn't tough enough for NHL... nothing earth shattering, but weird that he thought front office has Mitts pegged as a 3c ceiling. Hope any of these kind of pigeon holes lights a fire under Mitts. PS His kid played against Zegras throughout high school as a goalie.

    A good replacement for Sobotka would be TT when he is ready then... or by Committee with Larry, Girgenson, eventually Asplund and maybe one of the younger draft pics.

    Doc in complaint thread you asked about AK... Northern exposure was a short lived sitcom I think in the 90s.  The dark winter months can be brutal... though your services are probably very needed up there.  Lots of alcoholism and suicides...  PS I too hate some of your profession, my oncologist who is administering my chemo is such a negative nancy and little nasty critter.... that being said he got his protocol from a very positive guy at Cornell Weil so I have faith in what they are doing if not him.  

    Plus I am always correcting some internist who has no idea what they are ordering, hasn't looked at the patient's chart to find said order was already completed and results or are placing a duplicate order etc...

    Being in a place and working with people you like is crucial imo.  The work itself can be mundane as long as I am with good people or being left alone.   As I get older, money is important only in as much as it is sufficient to do the things you want, after that it is about control and power

      I feel you, it's a very ego driven profession.... I certainly enjoy the time off/lifestyle portion as I'm a nutso traveler....Once the day comes when I don't have this wanderlust I will absolutely be cutting down my shifts.

      Yeah on the God complex deal you are right.  Dealt with myself on capitol hill as a higher up staffer.  You just keep remembering what you are there for and you will be fine... set your own example and help others by it to remain humble and of service...  that mantra always helped me get my head back on straight when I started getting frustrated....

    I don't have a solid opinion of having Casey up or down, but agree learning how to drive the net better against bigger players, playing better in the corners and generally being tougher to play against are all things Casey needs to work and appears to be doing this year, but imo has a long way to go... again seems like on Sam's development curve. My guess is you put him on the 2nd PP in front of the net and make him learn to take hits and tip shots and rotate behind the net dig pucks out and pass setup to cutting forwards etc.

    Risto for a 2c or bust... otherwise I like what I am seeing out of him in preseason. He is staying with the puck better even when he doesn't or isn't able to clear the zone. Less boneheaded plays. Dahlin on the other hand... Still the two seem to be backing each other up so much better... hope it continues.

    Hoping Lazar makes the team... kid has skill and a Skinner attitude... I think he would be a good replacement for Sobotka... can play wing or center and has a hx of scoring when put in the right situation. Needs someone to have some faith in him and then I think he takes off.

    In someways he reminds me of Sam who got a slow start... really good passer not overly physical. Sam worked really hard at becoming better physically and other skills he did not have before. Looks like game is slowing down for Sam now, whereas Mitts is still at the beginning of that evolution or near it.

    Casey needs to show more drive. IMO its a maturity issue... he sounds like he is still a loner... not sure what is missing but he isnt the same player we saw at IIHL

    Hutton is what he is... a backup... Sabres need Ullmark to step up and or get lightening to strike again with Hamburglar or UPL develops quick... Either way need massive improvement.

    PS finally feeling a lot better, turned the corner yesterday evening. One more week til I feel crappy again, but its the last one... whew then I can really eat!

    He has gotten better imo, watched him a lot at Montreal last year... not sure of off ice issues and if he has matured. Not as many D hiccups and kid, can skate, dangle and pass when he wants to. Still a bit selfish with puck.

    he needs a play maker say Sam. Not sure best combo for Jack... Victor and??? TT or Vesey? Just not sure, heck I would even try Mitts up there.

    I still like idea of Sam driving his own line possibly with Skinner and Johannson. Wonder if Olaf and Vesey could work with Jack. Agree with comments on Scandella, Joker, Ok and The Boat on the negative side and Mitts and Gilmore on positive side.. TT still needs to work on getting puck out between his feet.... maybe shorter stick.

    Food still tastes weird a week from last treatment. Water has a metallic taste. Chicken broth works and salted meat ie bacon bout only thing can handle right now. Cant wait to be able enjoy some Za and wings.
