GDT: Sabres @ TB Lightning 3/6/2025 7:00 PM ET; ESPN

More like rough defense, amiright? -
I’m glad someone said it. JJ’s defense is comically poor. No interest in putting the effort in to play defense. He’s a wonderful offensive player but let’s not act like he doesn’t have warts.

Sabres sign Jordan Greenway to a 2 year/4 million AAV Extension

For Rempe and a first E5

There has been no indication from anyone involved with the Sabres that anything will be done anytime soon.
-
Ah yes let’s add $60 million in player salary to a team that has <checks notes> negative $10 million in cap space. Salary is fake, yada yada.
-
I guess that was tremendous foresight on your part as I didn’t see anyone re-signing with the team before the end of the season.

Am I the only one that is somewhat annoyed with the “signing” portion of this thread? That’s what my octogenarian dad calls trades in sports. They aren’t signings. They are trades. Signings occur on and after July 1st. Please don’t fill my ear (or eyes) with how players like Greenway signed extensions in March. That’s clearly not the intent of this topic.

The discussion for Greenway needs to start and end with the penalty kill. He’s an elite PK specialist. He also contributes 5 on 5. But his calling card is the penalty kill and he doesn’t hurt you 5 on 5. -
What will be the Sabres approach at the trade deadline?

To be fair, if they resign Greenway and Zucker, the Sabres would be lucky to get a few mid round picks for Joki, Bryson and Gilbert -

Not really invested in what they do with Adams. I’m still not convinced he’s going anywhere. Firing Lindy now or even after the season would be doing him pretty dirty. I mean he probably deserves it but you have to maintain face as an org. Maybe move him into a different role but straight up canning him is a terrible looks. -
GDT: Sharks @ Sabres, March 4, 2025 - 7:00PM, MSG 📺, WGR550 📻 🎙

Our players are so bad at being tough -
If you think he’s broken and can’t be fixed, I’ll listen to it. Maybe he’ll never be the same player. I’d hate to give up on him in a trade deadline move (not sure who’d want him other than a team looking to fleece the Sabres).
-
He’s a scorer. You put him with scorers. Get him away from Cozens and whoever else they’ve had him with. Now is exactly the time to see what they have with him. Put him with Tage and Tuch.

Why are we throwing away Jack Quinn? If people are worried about players moving elsewhere and flourishing (which is not what happened with Eichel or Reinhart as they were great players before they left but fans have a funny way of misremembering the facts), Jack Quinn would be someone I’d be extremely worried about. I haven’t seen anyone dominate the AHL like him. He’s had a rough go the last couple of seasons but that’s obviously attributed to his injuries. I think if he’s put on a line with actual proven NHL players, he’s going to be good. How many NHL players get signed in March?
-
Sigh. That wasn’t my question.
-
What do you think the cumulative haul will be for Zucker, Greenway, NAK, Joki, Bryson & Gilbert? Two second round picks and a couple 5ths maybe. I honestly doubt they deal even half of those players. Two of them should be on the roster next season.
