Most NHL analysts blasted the Panthers GM for the Seth Jones trade. GM has a Cup. I guess he’s absolved of criticism because of the resume.

I’ve seen many a Sabre get absolutely mugged just like Cozens working over the Canadien. Never have I seen a penalty for it.

Cozens isn’t a trade deadline move for any team. Why anyone would expect him to get traded when he’s been garbage the last two seasons is interesting to say the least. Teams have to want him, if the rumors are true (which I’m highly suspect of), then I guess there is interest but only because stupid people run NHL teams. Adams has mentioned in the past they use analytics as a tool but by no means use it exclusively. Based on what’s he’s said and what’s we’ve seen, they either choose to ignore the data or they rely much more heavily on the eye test, unfortunately. I’m in favor of moving him as much as the next guy but to use that as the only metric to measure this organization is akin to using data the way the Sabres do. Not so much.

This is what happens when you don’t make the right offseason moves and you don’t immediately recognize the free fall your team was in (13 game losing streak). So they want to make a hockey trade with contenders that are only looking to add players for their playoff run. Well, no one is signing up for that.

Dude ain’t coming until 2027. It’s pretty hard to be optimistic about a guy we won’t even get a sniff of for 2.5 more years.

We shouldn’t forget, his big problem is foot speed. We saw last season what a lack of foot speed can cause, see Kyle Okposo. Brett just can’t keep up. For a team that struggles mightily on the back check, having a player that just physically can’t get there is a problem. That being said, I wouldn’t be opposed to giving him one last chance but I think the org has already made up their minds.

Yeah and if someone though Big Murr had the goods to make the show, he would have gotten that opportunity. He’s on at least his second if not third contract with the Sabres. If he can’t make the last place Sabres, I’m not sure he deserves a chance elsewhere.
