  1. Back to the election ... What do my Dem friends think about the party's debate scheduling? Number, format, time?
  2. I know your sincerity. I said I joke, I joke. No one demonstrates any more sincere concern for people than you. My interest of late is language and standards. Imagine if Cruz said something like "only property owners should vote". We've called out American parents as Xenophobes while in other parts of the world parents send children to camps to chant "Kill the pig Jews" while holding AK47s. Bush is dumb while our current President underestimated American terror fear because he doesn't watch cable news. Imagine Bush saying that. Imagine saying our President is dumb. Trump hate speech is denounced in hateful terms. We have a border. Discussing what it's used for and how it's used is bigotry. We group, smear, and skip the analysis. I love the left. I'm liberal. I'm uncomfortable with the left's language to the extent it derides. When I'm uncomfortable with the right's language, it's the idea. That is not a 100% analysis. Nothing is. It's my synthesis of a theme. It endangers discourse and ideas. I, too, am guilty. I'm partisan. Most of us have beliefs or affiliations. Here's to that! Let's talk at a barbecue. PS .. Honest self reflection. I will listen for right language that derides groups. Caution flag: evaluating refugees is not deriding a group. Exhibit A OUTSIDE my synthesis regarding the right: obscene religious tests.
  3. Agreed re: Florida. There are Gators, Seminoles and, to a lesser extent, Hurricanes. They're people. Most of the three are also Bucs, Dolphins or Jags fans. They're sports teams people like. I'm a Gator who happens to be a BIlls fan, too.
  4. Morton!!! Holy, schmoly .... Smoked on television! Oh, and I am shocked at my friends on the left referring to voting tests and disparaging college drop outs! You are feeding the "elitist left" charge from the right. Next, you'll be supporting poll taxes, voter ID and other limiting measures. You're joking, I know, I know ... Ol' Morton had more "mean" than "mind", though, that's for sure. Hoss, I'll need your home address. I see a Trump PiƱata on eBay that I'd like to send you for Christmas, er, Rosh Hoshana, er, Mawlid, er, Festivus, er, The Solstice Celebration, er, Holidays .... Or, in the tragically empty and unintendly ironic world and words of John Lennon, for no meaningful reason whatsoever.
  5. I'm posting just in case GoDD is reading as a civilian. Some of you wrote so well, I'll unashamedly borrow your language. GoDD, I wish you well. I looked for your posts. Colorful insight is the best kind. You stirred the pot, and unsettled pots are the best kind. Make me think and I'm yours forever. I use the phrase "piece of work" often. When I do, it's a term of endearment, recognition, and envy. My grandmother used it differently. You are my kind of piece of work. Further, you are recklessly courageous. So was Charles Lindbergh. We need Lindbergs. However, I'm reminded of my office, today, as it compares to my office in 1983. There are jokes and giggles we shared then that we no longer share. That's a good thing. This place is too intimate for any internet veil to obscure that intimacy and its corresponding responsibility. I also believe SDS and his team did what had to be done. I can feel their reluctance. There is always a larger picture and those responsible to see it. I understand. I'm grateful. Who mentioned eight lives, above? Dead on. There's no place like SabreSpace. Someone else referred to the effort behind his posting and likened him to a talk radio host. Wonderful analysis. I didn't have those words, but I do now; oh, and death by cop and challenging icons. These resonated with me, as well. It must've been difficult to be GoDD without occasionally being GoDD. Everything in moderation. Regarding "he who left". I'll be happier when he's "he who returned".
  6. Hasek, playoffs, New Jersey, 4OT, 1-0, 70 saves, 4/27/94. Most ever, playoff shutout, Normie Smith, 92 saves, Mo'real Maroons,1936.
  7. Out loud, man. I laughed out loud. "Happy 15th birthday"!
  8. Is it me .... or has there been a mysterious "hummmmmm" in the background of MSG broadcasts this year? I've switched between various games, and it's Sabres, only. HD and regular feed. I've not yet done home v away analysis.
  9. To Hoss: I think we have different hate speech thresholds and differing aversions to labels. I'm a blind squirrel.
  10. I am hopeful. You removed reference to groupthink Republican as it regards Trump and added Islamic to modify terrorist. I will hide you from the Jacobins. Trump's a demagogue opportunist. She's a terrified shallow thinker. They're made for one another. I don't fear him. Instead, he's exposed the larger problem. I care not what he says but I can't look away from those listening. I have moved to Cruz as my handicapping favorite. I no longer dismiss Trump as impossible. His supporters are pissed. Pissed! Like "whadda we want, dead cops" pissed. Political parties have been successful channeling, fueling and fomenting anger, identity politics and victimhood. Interesting thought - Trump's brought it TO the Republican Party as a tentative plank. His supporters are not racist, bigoted, illiterate hillbillies who need to be shouted down. You and I work with them. Of interest - what medium and what Petri dish have we created? Absent those two things, we need not worry about bacteria.
  11. This, twice.
  12. Mug Control and caffeine free zones. It's not the idea, intent or the person, it's the object! Wait, she's a government employee ... NOW what are we gonna do? Fox, bigot, racist, give me a name to blame! Better call Saul. Not him, HIM. Snap, snap, snap ... Heal, stomp, heal, stomp ... step, step, step ... Line up and march. Where's Marat? Write it up, write it up ... Summon the guillotine! 1st Amendment, check. Under siege. 2nd Amendment, check. Under siege. 4th Amendment, check. Under siege. 16th Amendment, che.... wait, we can use that one. The Laviathan starves and the sheep are otherwise deployed. Robespierre, we will win! I've said it before and I meant it ... it's not my beautiful Hoss. Safespace Alert: NSFN -
  13. In my early days here, I started a thread with a poll asking if Myers had the greatest first year of any Sabre. Perreault , Barrasso ...
  14. The world does not revolves around me lesson number 13,428. I thought I was the only adult break checker on the planet. I have not break checked a sheriff, to my knowledge. You give me pause. I am glad we will not be debating your release from jail under unfortunate medical circumstances some 40 years from now.
  15. Good point .... not necessarily the best players, but the best team for 7 or 8 games ...
  16. A la Tyler Myers ... Absent dad played. Dal Colle, too ... A big name. I. Looking for debate and intrigue online.
  17. I'd let any 90 year old who's dying and no danger, and who's served significant time, out. Humanity first, for me. Justice isn't served by him dying in jail anymore than it has or hasn't been already. He has a family. He loved and was loved. He did bad things.
  18. Insight .... I just watched it again. I'm not certain what each is supposed to do in different situations, but Eich had time to get off. Long shift. Suspect he was gassed, but shouldn't have been in that position. Methinks!
  19. Two decades of Devils hockey, maybe more, just leaves me dull when I see their sweaters on television, success notwithstanding.
  20. I have i, i, h, z, t, n, and k .... hmmmm ... I'll start with zhitnik across the center tile for twenty three, double word score to 46, and I drew o,v,z,a,d,o,r .... The Grossage-Vardebedian Papers.
  21. One of my sons lives in Charlotte. He's an impressive young man in charge of growing 30 story steel and concrete things. The rest of the family visited him for Thanksgiving. Gratuitous background complete. We visited the NASCAR Hall of Fame. What a trip! I have no NASCAR background that exceeds that of the most casual sportsfan, but I loved the HoF. NASCAR is, to an extent I can't immediately think of in other sports, a blend of old school larger than life personalities, built-in-my-garage genuine American know how, bucket over the falls daredevil courage, and rocket telemetry astrophysics. If you're in town ... Now, a comment on humanity. Whether it's a sports blog, a political blog, or a cultural blog, you'll often hear the phrase "NASCAR crowd". On some (most?) occasions it's not complimentary. You will not find a kinder, more polite, group of families enjoying a sport together. The chorus playing in the background is "yes, sir, no, ma'am, after you, and thank you". I'm a polite guy. They humbled me.
  22. Wonderful road game against a quality team ... I think this Reinhart's gonna be something.
  23. I like Samson getting some critical time on the road ...
