  1. My interpretation of this game in pictures...
  2. These outbursts seem like the last attempts of denial to assert itself before vanishing completely. To me it's akin to the denial of the existence of significant threats to the country, or that the United States federal government can (or, more accurately, has) turn against the people, that'd we see two blizzards here in one winter, or that there's life on other planets. If can deny those, I guess you can deny that Pegula has meddled to the detriment of the team.
  3. I was impressed with him at the beginning of the game, just like I was impressed by the Sabres scoring 2 goals in 5 minutes. I think he has the tools but now we're seeing his weaknesses, which, to me, seem like issues that can be addressed (as opposed being issues that rule him out as an NHLer altogether).
  4. I must have missed the memo explaining the elite joke.
  5. His positioning is all out of whack. Leaving holes and, I think, too deep in the crease.
  6. Stick hand upper corner at least twice on Lieuwen. He needs to work on that....
  7. Lieuwen is lacking the consistency a regular, far more mature NHL regular goalie has, yes. From the little I've seen, it seems the goals on him are directly related to his lack of pro experience at this point.
  8. Okay, Lieuwen may need a few more years in the AHL.
  9. Uhoh. Are we looking at a 5-7 barn burner?
  10. There's still Ullmark who isn't even on this continent yet.
  11. No, no, you have to see him being interviewed these days.
  12. The Sabres are so set for goalies it is laughable. The goalie depth alone ought to attract some younger free agents.
  13. OMG, McBain gets a goal...there goes the tank.
  14. My wide says Mitchell is a hotty, along with Drew. She also says Rasmus looks like Draco.
  15. So, I told my wife I thought she might find Lieuwen sexy looking, but she says no. Isn't he handsome?
  16. They made that look easy, like they're pros.
  17. Chemistry is hhhhhuuuuuggggeee-ah. Seriously, the stuff that turns me on, in a manly way, is the signs of good chemistry. There were several unusual signs tonight, in my opinion, which give me "hope": -Scott sending Conacher into the penalty box with his helmet (rather than Conacher's). -Hackett smacking Ruhwedel's fanny, during the game, right after the play near the end where Chad dove to make the save (the fact that Hackett felt compelled to do that while the play hadn't yet exited the zone makes it unusual). -Ennis and Stafford several times storming the net and looking like they knew what they were doing. There were a few more I noted, which I forget now, but, again, I like that stuff and it's what a team in the Sabres' position needs right now.
  18. I've pretty much watched them all, though a few I may have picked up at the second period due to things like karate or children's plays.
  19. ...wow, Hackett is Miller-like emo! He's like a cozy, old pair of slippers.
  20. I'll have to search out the psych predictions I made on how different players would respond to Nolan being their coach...IIRC I was pretty close for most players I analyzed.
  21. I will have to be the voice of dissent here and say that of the four Sabres' goalies, Hackett seemed the least in control. He left a lot of open space that, thankfully, the D was right there to compensate for. Not sure what you'd call his style, but he was definitely on the ice a lot and dropped early and often. It's way too soon to make any judgments, of course, so maybe we'll see more of him on the road here.
  22. Hackett has benefited from a lot of heads-up D after the Oilers' goal.
