Good win for Ullmark, I thought. He seemed very calm and focused for the most part. Hope we see more of this from him. We're going to need it. I also thought Olofsson had a good game, the goal notwithstanding. Indeed, his goal was was like a reward for some solid offensive zone play all game. Vesey, on the other hand, blew his chance at removing the stink that continues to grow around his name. Instead, he added to it.

Maybe. However, I thought we weren't going to look at the past to drive the future...Ralph? What gives, Krueger? Either we look at the past and use it to drive what you're doing, or you start with a blank slate, like you keep saying. If RK is being honest, that's not the reasoning behind putting Bogo and Dahlin together. I know it's ridiculous, but this is what RK has been saying.

The ego is a horrible thing when not under control and fuel by stupid.

@Randall Flagggets this. If we're making any moves before the deadline, ideally, before Christmas, to actually improve this roster, it's not just Risto who is moving. It's going to be Risto/McCabe, Risto/Scandella, Scandella/McCabe...or something. Our marvelous, deep, D corps, which every successful team needs, will be shot if Gilmour gets picked up. This is yet another sign that Botterill lacks a real plan and RK can't keep his word or has no idea what to do with this roster (or both). I also like what Gilmour brings. I think he'd make a solid depth D man for a playoff team. I do not like Nelson and Pilut is another way over-rated D man. You people like your soft D. A lot of good they're doing us.

We will forever be working with what-if's, hypotheticals, and paper darlings if there isn't a vision that ties it all together into something greater than the sum of the parts. It's not the fault of ROR, Montour, Eichel, Skinner, Samson, and all of the other "good" parts if they're not creating, together, something that works, but they since they aren't their value TO THE TEAM isn't any better NOW than any other player. Are we certain that we're finally just a few parts short of something that clicks? I'm not. We're endlessly in that position it seems. Montour has fine skillz. Frankly, I think he's a sub-par defender (which makes him average on this team). If another team wants him and we get something that works in return, then that's where his real value lies, not in what could be if we ever get there, where ever there is.

I don't know WTF you're over-reacting to now. Breathe and observe how the posts unfolded. If you're still upset, I can direct you to a good CBD store. OMFG, I'm not down on, or criticizing ROR, BUT HE NEVER MADE AN IMPACT ON THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TEAM. Whoever is to blame for that.
-
I'm not saying he sucks. I'm saying he's not a valuable addition to the team and that he is over rated by people on this board. What good are his potential skillz to the team, what value is there, when they can't be leveraged? The value exists in potential and on paper but not in reality. You can say that about a lot of guys. If he can be moved to get someone on the team who actually makes a difference in team production, he should be. We might never be the team that he blossom ons, just like we weren't for ROR.
-
What?
-
He had one decent year in 17-18, but even those metrics aren't anything to justify the non-touchable status he gets here on SS. See below. What more do you need to see?
-
Montour is over rated by this board.
-
I would have preferred to have kept Evander. He was the ROR of this board, though...lots of people wanted him off the team because his shenanigans could spoil Eichel. However, all signs had pointed toward Evander not re-signing here.
-
And...? Are you saying Montour is a valuable addition, because, no.
-
This is so unbelievably stupid. If the concern is trying to create and/or maintain a rep for being fair to the players, they took a step back with this move. Botterill has no idea what he's doing. He's trying to play checkers with the spare pieces that they include in case you lose one. The guy is an idiot. We have an idiot GM with his idiotically created roster and a coach hired by his idiot reasoning.
-
Ullmark - that's how you do it.
-
Sabres can't buy luck right now. Yeesh.
-
Montour, how about buying in and diving in the net to stop the shot?
-
RK needs to address that BS with some sort of finality. Jeepers.

Even Rob Ray says "shoot". SHOOT!

I finally found the picture of the sign I saw outside the arena back in November 2013.

I feel like I'm sitting half way up the 300s watching this game.
-
Dang, sorry I missed it. Maybe I should ignore the second, too?

Correct, in fact obvious to the point where I'm disappointed it took multiple posts to draw out.

I thought one of the recent 31 thoughts went into detail on the whole Byfuglien thing. He's claiming he had a hockey injury from last year (as stated above) even though he signed off on it. He signed off on it because they all thought it would heal over the summer. Now the team doesn't think it's a hockey injury (implying he hurt himself over the summer), while Byfuglien does.

Lindy and, wasn't some other coach in the very recent past guilty of this?
