Yeah, but, no one moves here.

So, ERod might still have some cache. He and another forward plus a D man can be packaged up for a trade or trades. They don't all have to be a part of the same trade, but orchestrated in some manner as to clear a spot on the middle 6, collect some trade assets and wheel and deal for some scoring help. I'm not in this thread every day, so I may have missed it, but what's stopping Botterill (other than Botterill himself) from sending away a guy like ERod for a 5th round pick, and then turning around and using that pick in a 5th round pick/Sobotka pacakge and getting back a 3rd round pick. Then using that pick as a 3rd round pick/McCabe package for a middle 6 guy who can do 20 goals or so and lay some heavy?

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
... replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
My wife has been binging Yellowstone. She kept going on about how good it was, and I would sit down for a minute to catch a little. Anyway, I finally sat down to watch full episodes while she was in the middle of the second season. It's like the Godfather combined with a good John Wayne western. Wish I had watched more of the earlier episodes. Some of the production looks like it was done by the people who worked on Westworld (opening sequence for sure, but the cinematography has a similar feel, too). Also saw Ford vs. Ferrari over the weekend. Surprised by how good it was. You need to appreciate an "older" style of linear story telling in film instead of the chaotic modern style of jumping all over the place. Bale and Damon do a fantastic job and the supporting cast is very good, too. You don't need to know or care about car racing for this film to work. -
The Pegulas have a nice deal with MSG and control a lot of the programming as it is. This page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSG_Western_New_York provides details. One of the prime take-aways is this: "MSG as part of the agreement pays $19 to $20 million per-year in rights fees to broadcast Sabres games and programming, as well as Buffalo Bills programming..." To juice any more out of that nugget they'd have to take that $19 to $20 million and invest it in creating and marketing programming. As @SwampDpoints out above, they have run the numbers, and are content with what they get out of their relationship with MSG. It would take significant effort and an outlay of money to do any more than they already do. It's not unlike the hockey club - you need real talent to increase the quality of the output and that talent costs money. The broadcasting industry is not known for paying money to retain talented people. They will pay personalities at the top of each tier, to a point, and the executives will pay themselves, but after that, the money disappears.

It's elite in its ridiculousness. He really ought to just give in and just let it all grow out to a lovely flow.

This would explain the call from the Sabres to my home the other day. They're definitely not looking at hiring me.

He's on a 69 pt pace.

Indeed, and Victor's is pretty impressive, too, for it being his first full NHL season.

The Sabres should be doing this to the Devils. I mean, they need a confidence building game, I guess, but this isn't Washington they're playing.

The Leafs got superior goal-tending, that's the story of the game. -

Wow. I don't know what to make of this game. The Sabres looked like the better team, the Leafs are supposed to be strong, but have been on the skids for a while, too. The Sabres looked good, even Sheary. -

Berglund on Waivers with Purpose to Terminate His Contract
... replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
A. GM (St. Louis General Manager) negotiates no-trade list for PB (Patrik Berglund). B. PB creates no-trade list negotiated as per section A (above). C. PB submits list to his agent to pass along to GM. D. PB's agent fails to submit list to GM; does not advise PB. E. GM does not receive list agreed to in section A (above); does not advise PB he did not receive list. F. PB assumes list is submitted; continues day-to-day normally. G. PB is traded to the Sabres. H. Per section F (above) PB is surprised, shocked, horrified to learn of section G (above). I. Per sections A, B, C, F, G, and H (above) PB believes the trade is invalid; life is unfair; he is living in Hell. J. Per section I (above) PB no longer can operate normally. -
Berglund on Waivers with Purpose to Terminate His Contract
... replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
You need to re-watch that moment in the video, it's at 2:57: Q: "Buffalo would have been one of the 20 no-trade teams probably at the time?" PB: "Yes, yes." Berglund isn't agreeing to "would have been" as if the list never existed, rather "would have been" is another way of saying "was", or the past tense of "is". So, if this were a present tense question it's "Buffalo is one of the 20 no-trade teams?" -

Berglund on Waivers with Purpose to Terminate His Contract
... replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Where does he specifically point to Buffalo as being the problem? Maybe I missed it. In that narrative, they were careful to build up the fact that he was drafted by St. Louis, loved it there, and that his dream was to win a Cup there. They also made sure we knew his agent didn't turn in his list of 20 teams he couldn't be traded to. Buffalo happened to be on this list, along with 19 other teams (Buffalo + 19 other teams = a list of 20 teams). They said he was not happy from the moment he heard he was traded. Any one of those 20 teams (and probably all other teams, frankly) would have had an uphill battle to make Berglund feel better about his life. Berglund tainted the process from the very first second - there was nothing Buffalo could do. Phil wasn't playing Berglund likely because Berglund had demonstrated he wasn't a team player and that he didn't want to be there. In my opinion, you're making it up in your mind that the Berglund situation has anything to do with the Sabres specifically. The only thing the Sabres could have done was have the perfect mix of everything that appealed to Berglund himself to prevent Berglund from doing what he did ultimately. Which is clearly ridiculous. -

This had nothing to do with Buffalo. Replace Buffalo with those 19 other teams and Berglund would have been just as miserable. This story is about a dude who loved what he had going on, had it all taken away from him, and doing what he had to do to find peace - none of those things reflects on Buffalo. -

Yes, I think this is the theme of the game. SAVE THE SEASON! A win tonight can salvage a season that has, once again, gone horribly awry. This isn't a good roster, but in order to attract people here who can make it good, the team can't look like a tire fire. Do this! Win! Fix it! -
Each person processes things differently. What helps Frazier process the game and positions while on the ground might get in Daboll's way and vice-versa. If you had a choice to sit anywhere you wanted at a Sabres game, so long as you chose your seats only for the view they provide, where would you sit? I bet you it will be different than where I would choose. Can't believe this is even a thing.

Not a soul outside of Buffalo thought Buffalo was going to win this. Combine that with a fun game, solid performance by both Allen and the coaching staff, add some pumpkin pie, an upset Jerry Jones and over two-decades of being a nothing nationally, and of course fans are going to be pumped up.

I don't know man, people keep talking about their easy schedule, which it apparently is, but they put it in the context of the Bills haven't proven anything because of it. Seems to me the easy schedule has been a gift, allowing the team, the coaches, and Allen a chance to improve what they're trying to do each week. It's like a progression of boss levels where they aren't too hard, but give you a chance to get used to the game and work on your skillz, so when you do get to the harder bosses, you're more prepared to take them on.

"Bills back...Bills back. If we ain't got y'all's respect now, we got this sh%t, for realz. They gonna respect Bills Mafia." "And we built different, we built different. This sh$t different. We don't need that fancy-ass - all that - bull crap all America team. We built different. No cap [editor's note: I think this is what he said] we stand on that."
