He never concerned me, but the team surrounding him certainly did.

Unless I’ve had a beer or two with a player, I really only know what they present to us in interviews, community events, and what people close to them might reveal. What KO exhibited in that regard while here was leaps and bounds above whatever Kane chose to share. So yeah, there it is.

If Evander Kane had one iota of the class and dedication illustrated by Kyle Okposo over the years, perhaps a few would have been happy for him.

2024 Stanley Cup Final - Edmonton vs Florida

Edmonton outplayed Florida for long stretches in those first three games as well, but Bobrovsky was the difference. He hasn’t looked the same since. -
I’ve heard several chefs say to use regular olive oil for cooking because of the higher smoke point as the flavor holds up much better and that extra virgin should be used for dressings, etc.

The offside rule went in because Jerry Buss died? Who knew? -

In fairness to me and the other doubters at the time, both Mitts and UPL were playing like absolute crap when we made that assessment, so I don’t apologize for it at all. -

Somebody mentioned that Lindy likes at least one solid two way player on every line and imo, that’s Benson on line one with Tage and Tuch or line two with Cozens and Quinn. Benson is gonna bring his 200 foot game no matter where he plays, but he has offensive chops as well, which is why I see him more as a top six winger. -

Uh-oh. -
I thought it was understood that my entire premise was based entirely on an unrealistic outcome in the first place; strictly a theoretical exercise.

I’d love to see them come here. But if by some miracle Savoie and Kulich demonstrably outplay Ek and Bennett, is that KA not doing good enough or us having underestimated them?
-
Yes, and if you’d read my posts in this thread you’d realize that I agree that Savoie and Kulich have little to no chance at all of cracking the lineup as I’ve always maintained that they both need more seasoning in the A. My only point has been that IF they should outplay whomever Adams brings in (again, little chance that happens) then we will have underestimated them.
-
Perhaps you missed the part of my initial post where I said there would be little chance of either Savoie or Kulich making the team as I believe both need more AHL seasoning. The point is that if they should happen to play well enough to beat whomever Adams brings in, then perhaps we’d all have underestimated them. Pick any two players that you’d like to see brought in, any two. If by some miracle Savoie and Kulich beat them out (and, again, I highly doubt they would) then I don’t think we could say Adams didn’t do well enough so much as Savoie and Kulich did far, far better than expected. Hence we will have underestimated them.
-
Perhaps you’d be underestimating Savoie and Kulich.
-
I agree, but what if Adams brings in enough talent and Savoie and Kulich end up outperforming that new talent, anyway? Imo, both Savoie and Kulich need more seasoning in the A so there’s little chance of that happening, but it would be a nice problem to have.

As great as Barkov and the rest of the Panther skaters may be, the difference in this series is Bobrovsky, full stop. He is the leading contender for the Conn Smythe to this point of the series. -
I don’t disagree that his style is suited for TV. As I’ve said numerous times he can get away with that style for a TV audience while the radio audience is left in the lurch because he simply can’t provide an adequate description of the action. It’s too bad that we can’t have a dedicated radio broadcast as well, like it was back in the day.
-
I’ve read that a couple times, that nobody listens to radio and I have to quibble a bit with that assertion. While the listening audience may not be as large as it once was, the various radio networks for each team all have numerous affiliates. The Sabres have 10 affiliate stations on their network for instance. There are also various radio streaming options as well. Advertisers don’t pay for premium rates if the size of the listening audience doesn’t justify the investment. Anyway, the listeners, regardless of how many are being cheated with inferior play by play of the action.
-
Regardless, my bet is that the ASL play by play is much faster and more coherent than whatever Dunleavy offers up.
-
Remember when we heard, “Perreault winding up behind his own net … “ and we could follow that radio call all the way down the ice? Lost art indeed.
-
My dislike of Dunleavy has absolutely nothing to do with RJ in the least. And the fact that other PBP guys around the league are just as bad as Dunleavy doesn’t elevate him in the least, either. It seems radio play by play is a lost art. Much to the detriment of the audience.
-
NHL hockey is too fast for him and Dunleavy cannot keep up with the play. You can get away with that on a TV broadcast but not on the radio, where the audience is dependent on the PBP announcer to paint the image for them. Listeners should be able to follow the puck up and down the ice, but Dunleavy leaves huge gaps in the action making that difficult. The broadcast crew serves the TV audience first and I get that, but it would be nice to have a dedicated radio broadcast team as well.

Horizontal? What, they can’t call it the long jump for some reason?
