  1. I feel like I’m beating a dead horse but just because I guy was drafted high and at one time was “maybe” considered a prospect doesn’t mean Magic Don can fix him. By all acceptable goaltending metrics UPL has had one “less then half season” in the ECHL were he wasn’t considered one of the leagues worst goalies. How long can we blame hip surgery and defensive systems? If Buffalo was going into this season with two “top end prospects” I wouldn’t be happy but I’d understand. To be going into this season hoping that Levi defies history and UPL suddenly becomes average is management malpractice, especially when there is a solution that only cost money, a draft choice and the team’s fifth best prospect.
  2. I’m hoping he develops into that 4th line center but like you said, real long shot at this point.
  3. I really loved the trades to acquire Jacques Richard and Real Cloutier trades at the time but obviously neither worked out. Of course, in retrospect, the Tom Webster for Roger Crozier was my all time favorite.
  4. They actually started as strictly a food truck but have had their brick and mortar store for awhile
  5. Murray is a perfect example of just because you are large doesn’t mean you are tougher. He is a career AHL’er.
  6. Yep. Even in this area you can tell which pizzerias adjust for humidity depending on the time of year. Like I said, a multitude of factors
  7. Everybody is always talking about someone can make a killing elsewhere but it’s not typically as easy as bringing recipes to another part of the country. Weather and water, for example, play an enormous part in dough quality which obviously affects pizza and beef on weck. There are ways around it but they aren’t cheap. Also, people like what they like and what one part of country thinks is to die for, the other part has to be convinced. A lot of other factors involved as well but just my two cents.
  8. Peter McNab and while it wasn’t a trade, letting Dudley go to the WHA really pissed me off.
  9. Hence the reason there is some hope of bridging the gap now. They have some leverage.
  10. To be clear, bridging Powers is not Buffalo’s preference.
  11. This is such a non story but like Chad, I feel the need to explain a little bit about how this works. These contracts are at least 90% boiler plate and 9% precedent driven. There really is not a lot to negotiate once term and AAV are agreed on. It’s why guys can sign five minutes after free agency begins. So when someone tells me that term and limit are in “non deal breaking territory” the deal is done. The reason I was misinformed about the Ullmark deal is because Buffalo ultimately met his numbers only for Boston to swoop in after their plan A(Darcy Kuemper) became unavailable. It happens. There is nothing that can blow this deal up short of Rasmus blowing out a knee at an amusement park. For what it’s worth, I’m hearing Owen is going to be a shorter deal. It really is the smart play for him unless Buffalo goes way high.
  12. If Kane ends up in Buffalo, it would be in a support role and nobody will be spinning it any differently. On the other hand, you are nothing if not consistent.
  13. Tampa was able to partially offset this with zero state tax and quality of life but your point is well taken. I do believe a lot of players will be potentially pissed at their agents when the cap approaches $95M/$100M and they realize they should not have signed such long term deals.
  14. I still think they want someone better between Z and Kyle but, yeah, I like your scenario better. However, it has come up a couple of times that they need Dylan to be better defensively and more aware of the situation. If he doesn’t improve, I could see a move to the wing.
  15. I can’t envision a scenario where Thompson goes to wing. I wouldn’t be shocked at a scenario where Cozens goes to wing.
  16. OMG, Matt Tkaczuk had a great playoff and suddenly, the silent Neanderthal’s of hockey think you can’t win unless you play “heavy” hockey.
  17. No, he gives perspective of what he thinks of them. Look, like PA says, he has 300K followers so based on my knowledge of YouTube pay scale, he’s making about $5K per month minus expenses. Obviously people find him entertaining so good for him and for them. He doesn’t pretend to be connected but he’s obviously pretty knowledgeable about the sport.
  18. I’m not sure what credibility he has. He’s just a guy with an opinion, not much unlike anyone on this board. To me it’s not different then watching a video message board.
  19. I think that pretty much sums it up. He’s just another fan with a bigger platform.
  20. How about Peter Ciavaglia(sic?) I had to check, although he went to Nichols, he was born in Albany. He may have been first drafted from this area schools.
  21. Doing things right and the optics of it all are important. I remember picking up Eichel at the airport when Rasmus signed his first contract after getting drafted. Jack took time from his summer to fly into town just for the signing and he was cool with the whole thing. Even laughed at security who chased us because I drove past their checkpoint.
  22. They are just waiting for him to return to the States.
  23. It’s funny, Dudley was one of my favorite players and I completely forgot he was a GM
  24. Even the radio play by play guy had a stroke. After awhile, it’s just draining.
