I think that would be for the best. There's a fine line between pragmatism and malice and I think you need to meditate on that a bit.

For what, a couple months? Big deal. People will get over this a lot easier than they would get over their loved ones dying because people like you think this is just the worst. I know you seem to think that this whole thing is an overreaction, but I think you might want to turn the mirror on yourself. It seems to me that you're the one overreacting to what will be seen as a small sacrifice made by a society that likes to at least pretend to believe it cares about human life. Debate that all you want, but most people are making the effort and that shows me a level of selflessness that I wasn't sure was still alive here in this country. Let a couple million people die "because death happens" is something a sociopath would say. I'm saying this as a friend: you may not want to continue this line of discussion.

Isn't the whole point of medicine, healthcare, modern society, technology, to allow people to get as much out of their lives as possible in the way that makes them happy? Those people "scurrying around like insects" see this as a bump in the road. They see life beyond the bump. Just because you'd be satisfied with dying tomorrow doesn't mean everyone else is. Seek help.

Yeah, I have no confidence that a vaccine is the solution to this problem.

I don't think anyone is arguing that herd immunity doesn't work, or that it's not the goal. The whole purpose of these measures is to build herd immunity at a rate that hospitals can handle. Hopefully we've got a good idea now of the things we can do to slow the infection rate to reach herd immunity while not crippling the healthcare system.

Welp, one of my co-workers has officially tested positive.

Bam Margera. Wow. That commerical must be ancient.

I'm not entirely sure I understand it, but I'm new to it still. It's fun for making memes but the whole "it shows you things like what you watch" means if you watch too much of something that's like all it shows you. Right now my feed is mostly standup comedy, but it'll change at some point. https://vm.tiktok.com/vccnNH/

Hospitals "hurting for patients" is just the perfect example of how weird our healthcare system is ?

There would be taint. You can't just take the stink off with a little Febreze. Sports is all about the stories. It's not about whether you win or not, it's how you get there. And the story for the Sabres winning a Cup this year would be: Team out of playoffs at start of global pandemic upsets frontrunners to win championship; 125,000 dead. I'm not interested in that! lol

Interesting

I'll keep it in mind! As far as the injury, that's a story for another time and place lol

I've been out of cycling for a while due to a nagging injury but I'm holding out hope for a return this summer, and it that works out I'll probably buy a new road bike next summer. And one of my main motivations for buying a modern road bike will be that fixing flats roadside on a bike from the 70s is effing brutal lol
-
Ah yes, the classic mistake. Time to start keeping that repair kit on the bike.
-
Amazing. I wonder how many other random celebs have laced em up over the years.

Did you guys know Evel Knievel played hockey? I had never heard this before but it popped up on social media. From wiki:

Imagine the Sabres getting into the playoffs and going on an epic Cup run so that we have to spend the rest of our lives getting chirped for winning it on the back of a global pandemic.
-
We would win.

They actually only recently changed the rules. Military academy athletes can defer their service now if they go pro. And if they don't end up coming back to serve they have to pay back the cost of their education.

Report: “Another Disconnect” Between Botterill and Krueger
darksabre replied to That Aud Smell's topic in The Aud Club
The story went up an hour ago nerds -
That's kinda what I'm getting at. I think if we a. Eliminate the insurance company graft and b. find better ways to look at the costs associated with care, we can probably find ways to make the system more efficient and cost effective so that those inflated itemized costs go away. So many of the problems with healthcare costs are artificial creations of the system itself.
-
I honestly think system that functions without needlessly added costs would end up giving you a raise.

Sabres “salary cap space is a mirage” per Yerdon in Athletic

Y'all understand who the GM is right? The cap moron himself?
