Oh snap, now you're just finally starting to actually read what she wrote. Took you long enough. Her statement didn't need any correcting from you guys. She anticipated the "maybe they weren't victims" argument because she knew people were going to come for her about it and that didn't even stop you! Do you get it yet?
-
I'm definitely like that. She's my balance. I think sometimes people assume that she's up for the same argumentative stuff I am. This is not the case
-
Different opinions is not what this is about. It's about communication and knowing ones audience. There are a-hole posters here who love to fight and debate. Fine. But not everyone here is like that. The same goes for the real world. It should be obvious at this point that Josie isn't here to get into arguments and debates. She isn't here to put up with the condescension that other posters are willing to put up with. Friendlier language and understanding who Josie is would be nice.
-
I don't really feel obligated to do anything other than ask that you not be a prick. You're already doing a pretty good job of it today. If you aren't sure how to do that, perhaps you need to step away.
-
It's not that hard.
-
You might want to rethink your phrasing here. Is this a community or not?
-
I'm not going to dig up old posts. My only suggestion, and this isn't just for you, is to perhaps not treat everything as a debate or a point in need of correcting.
-
Excuse yourself please. You're not innocent of this either. I'm sticking up for her now because I see how these interactions frustrate her. I've been patient, but I'm a little tired of it. She's not a confrontational person but most of her posts here are met with condescension. I would like it to stop.
-
Of course not. But that's because you're not used to being talked down to by dudes like she is. She picks up on stuff in the way men talk to her that I don't always catch. No woman would have responded to her post that way, but PA certainly felt the need, and then he proceeded to dig himself a deeper hole afterwards. It would be nice if dudes would think about the way they respond to women a little more, especially in a thread like this.
-
Wildcard at least tried to couch his language. PA's response was purely superfluous, and perhaps predictable. The only purpose it served was to invalidate Josie as a poster, not her post. All one has to do is read that post and say "Ah, perhaps there are victims here. If so, I agree." And then move on. It's not a comment that demands questioning. And yet it was questioned immediately. I wonder why?
-
It just blows my mind that we have to sit here and entertain every single one of PA's contrarian arguments all day every day, but the moment one woman tries to show some compassion for potential victims, oh no. Can't have that. Someone let her know that these women might not have been victims, like she doesn't already f*cking know that this is a possibility.
-
It's about acknowledging different perspectives. Josie tried to bring a female, victim-side perspective to the discussion and was immediately told that this perspective was probably not relevant. By a bunch of dudes. That isn't harmless at all. It's exactly the problem.

I think the Pegulas are learning to take a more hands on approach in the day to day stuff. It seems like at the beginning they were hoping to run things the way Terry has always run his fracking ventures: hire a bunch of people and put them to work, things will sort themselves out. But this sports venture appears to have been a different animal than they expected. We've seen the problems that have come with too much of a hands-off approach, especially with the way the Sabres were being run under Murray. They also, perhaps, were taking the advice of people who shared different mindsets when it comes to how things should be run, the culture of an org, etc. They're clearly trying to establish a uniform culture (take that how you will). I think the Pegulas are getting a grasp on this business now. I think Kim taking the reigns herself is good. That kind of can-do, no BS attitude should trickle down through the ranks.

PA, etc. The token boomers in this thread who are hopelessly behind the times on these topics.
-
It's not surprising. They steamrolled over the only female who tried to weigh in so far because in 2018 the only perspective that matters is still a man's when it comes to topics like workplace power dynamics/abuse of power, relationships, harassment, etc. So of course it's cast doubt on Kim Pegula o'clock.
-
No, that's Australia.

I'm probably cancelling my TV after this series. There won't be a better one in these playoffs.
-
I'm not worried at all about Kim taking on the role by herself. I would be very worried if it were Terry.
-
Saying weird stuff that, while technically true, is perhaps not appropriate. The bar over there is imperceptibly low.
-
A bit Pegula-esque

I tried to read some of that thread but it made my head hurt.

Thank you for clarifying.
