Crapping on the media is very popular right now. And given how unpopular Harrington is, this kind of thing definitely hurts him more than anyone. He already has pretty much everyone blocked on Twitter because he's such a dope. Not surprised the Pegulas themselves are completely unafraid of him. That doesn't bode well for the career of someone who is paid to be taken seriously.

Neighborhood Facebook pages are my favorite. Absolutely awash with local morons for our comedic benefit.

Evander Kane did very well in his 1st playoff game

Looking forward to San Jose locking him up long term  -
This is correct.

Before the playoffs I might have said this. I can't say it now. Vegas looks for real.

I dunno. I think I'd have wanted a little more production from someone I'm going to give up a 1st for when I sign him. They're going to do it. But once again SJ is out.

I feel like it's worth noting that, on the cusp of elimination, Evander Kane has had one point in this series.

 I saw "inflated view of their own knowledge" and assumed this was tongue in cheek. I'm not saying women don't do it, it's just that they tend not to do it on large platforms. Sure there's insufferable stuff like "The View" or whatever, but I think women tend to be more careful with the things they say in order to avoid people (righteous men) jumping down their necks about every little thing. We tend to dominate/take over conversations women are having in public spaces, whether through verbal diarrhea or simply straight volume. Personally, as a very loud man, I have to be careful that I am not dominating conversations with women or talking over them, regardless of my intent. The trend at the moment is to start trying to turn the microscope on the things men talk about, the how, and the why, especially in the public realm. We escape scrutiny for our words far too easily and often. Speech and thought is full of learned patterns, most of them subconscious. Male domination of conversation, whether verbal or written, and the subtle cues in the words and phrases we use, is something that we should be taking greater care to be aware of. It's our responsibility. Every conversation or discussion any one of us has is almost automatically improved when a woman's voice is involved. For me, it's a lot easier to simply change the things in my speech/thought habits that are problematic than to complain about how hard/confusing it is. Crying about being forced to get smarter is not very masculine, at least in my eyes.

It's definitely rambly. When people aren't thinking too hard about what they're saying they ramble. It's kind of a symptom of a bigger problem, which is the proliferation of dudes talking mindlessly about anything and everything, regardless of whether or not they know anything about that of which they speak. Radio, tv, podcasts, Twitter, hell...this forum.

Yup. So when I look at what Friedman is saying, as a public figure and in a public forum, I have to roll my eyes because it's just very self-centered. Someone who is worried about, I don't know, losing a female audience, might have taken a more simple and tactful approach. "I've always had good experiences with him, but I cannot speak to any of the sexism claims" is just about perfect. Is that asking too much? I don't think so. Not from someone who's entire career revolves around words and what they mean.

I read it the same way you did. You provided a very specific example of the phenomenon, but the general point remains: personal experience with someone doesn't always count for anything. We see this all the time after some horrific murder happens or whatever. They interview the neighbor and it's always "oh, well he seemed like a nice young man." Sure. To you.

Also, water is wet.

 I've noticed that companies around here, on Glassdoor, often have issues on the "business side". I could speculate as to why that is...

Someone is screwing with us. Is this a throwback?

I know. I know. He's an owner and can do whatever he damn well pleases. Beyond that bit of wisdom, how do we figure this out? The News mentions today that the Sabres will not be commenting further on Norty's role. I think it's a mistake, because now we have this thread and there will be many different takes. If he's going to be an overarching president of both hockey and business operations, say it. If he's just the next Seymour, say it. I think we deserve to know if Scotty is now reporting to a hockey president.

Actually, we skipped spring here. Went straight from winter on April 30th to Summer on May 1st.

Maybe it's because nobody cares?

Probably not whatever it was that Russ was doing.
