I don't think Shattenkirk hurts Risto's value that much. Shatts has an injury history that is going to make teams wary. I can't believe he's only 30. He'll be cheap, but will he be worth it?

Arguing one season's worth of usage against Hutton's established career as a platoon style goalie doesn't really do Ullmark any favors. You couldn't steal the starting job from a career backup, Linus? Not a lot of ground for him to stand on. Hutton's experience makes him more valuable.

I'm a little surprised by that Sabres offer. His lack of development under a goalie coach that was fired doesn't even get him a little slack. I'm assuming the Sabres probably offered him a higher number but his agent rejected that, so the Sabres are just low-balling to hopefully get Linus at the number they originally offered. No chance.

I still think Risto is going somewhere unexpected, like Anaheim. And I'd put better money on someone like Nelson going to Tampa.

According to Joe Yerdon, part of the fallout from all of this is that the Beauts are playing at Northtown Center instead of the Harbor Center this year. That SUCKS.

Yikes. That's a lot of term and money. He is only 25, but still. In a league where you can still win Cups with hot rookie goalies making 850K, it just seems ridiculous to pay one goalie that much money.

Surveillance is, I suppose, a human tradition. People in control, or desiring control, want information. The devil is in the deployment, the psychology, etc. The European tradition of overt surveillance is pretty well established. The Brits love their CCTV cameras, speed cameras, etc. They're well ahead of the US on that kind of stuff. The US seems to prefer covert surveillance, which I think is largely the fault of the public's perception of surveillance activities. Out of sight, out of mind. We're fine with the Patriot Act but we don't want to see any cameras watching us in public places.
