Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
darksabre replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
They straight up stole $2.5 million from the National Parks Service to pay for this nonsense. Trump should have had to pay for this parade from his own pocket. -
I'm just trying not to be super mean!

I love when people couch their bad takes with this one. It's got nothing to do with being old school. You're just a dork.
-
lol dude has been playing the long game. He tweeted all through the 2018-19 season about actual (and mundane) Habs stuff.
-
That's the big question mark in all this. There are schools of thought that say Risto is better than all these charts and graphs indicate. And there are GMs out there that probably abide by that school of thought.
-
You got it. It's not a cap thing so much as a roster space thing. I would hope that Botterill would execute a Risto trade before a Gardiner signing was announced. But these things ain't easy. Ideally you'd want to move him first. But timing is tough. I guess we'll see when the dust settles.
-
It's purely a numbers thing. Signing Gardiner makes Risto's cap hit untenable and gives us too many players to protect for expansion. It would immediately dilute Risto's value. It's gonna be D for picks and forwards you gotta think.
-
That's why I liked motorcycles lol Pick the engine up and take it to the kitchen table
-
If the Sabres landed Gardiner what that would say to me is that the market value for Risto is IN THE TANK and all of this "some GMs think he's a first pairing D man" stuff is totally out to lunch.
-
Correct. He's a better defenseman than Risto in basically every way.
-
I'm factoring skating into this equation.

This isn't even remotely accurate.

I'm a rank amateur but mostly it's because I've never had a place to do any work. Being a shade-tree mechanic is hard when there's snow on the ground half the year. I like wrenching but it's a lot of time, money, blood, sweat and tears. And RUST. Most of my work has been with motorcycles. I reattached the bumper to my Caprice when I was in high school lol I did a heater core on my Delta 88. I'm pretty good at cooling system stuff. Did plugs and wires on it too. I tried to do brakes on my Suburban and ***** up real bad so I've pretty much sworn off brake work since then lol I did manage to do the distributor on the Suburban though. I also replaced a bunch of seized up door lock cylinders and broken door handles. And I put a trailer hitch on it. I replaced the air shocks on my LeSabre (the compressors always crap out) with load assist shocks which actually went surprisingly well. I also patched up a huge rust hole around the gas door and got a lot of compliments for my bondo work. And I replaced the alternator and the thermostat. I didn't do any work on the Golf because it was new. Which honestly wasn't any fun. On the '96 Roadmaster I did an oil cooler line (which went better than expected) and fixed the parking brake. That car was a rusty mess to work on. I sold it before I could replace the AC compressor which was seized and would smoke the serpentine belt if the clutch engaged. The Impala has been annoying because cars are starting to get to where you really can't DIY them. I can take the whole dashboard apart in about 10 minutes with my eyes closed, but I can't actually do the repairs I need to do because I can't really diagnose the problem (electronics). I did fix the leaking taillight seals though (bad design GM). I'd like to buy a project car to experiment on (read: ***** up) but I can't justify the cost. So I'll just have to settle for watching Roadkill videos on youtube.

That'd be something.

Here's the thing about trolling: even if it starts out as disingenuous, "for the lulz" if you will, there tends to be enough seeds of conviction in the trolling that eventually it stops being trolling and starts being genuine. A certain politician's base is a perfect example of this phenomenon. A certain internet conspiracy theorist who will not be named has pleaded in actual courts that he's only a troll "playing a character", but we know that's BS too. I don't like the term "troll" because it provides too much cover.

I wish this forum had a hall of fame for threads, because this one should go in it.

Just to be clear, you never played in the NHL, were never drafted, never had an NHL agent, and never engaged in any kind of NHL contract negotiations, but you feel that puts you in a position to judge someone who has?

Fixing the name is less important than fixing the logo and graphics. Amateur hour stuff. A total rebrand would be for the best. -
I ain't touching that lol
